OMGoodness...you have read my TR right? You know that we are Star Wars geeks? If you DO go for a Star Wars Weekend, and you DO do a PTR or TR for it, I will definitely be subscribing! :hyper: It is on our bucket list to do that someday, we are just not brave enough yet to tackle the crowds and FL heat! :scared:

Well, it feels like the time to end this TR is drawing near. :sad1: I now have a desire to start a PTR for my next trip...even though it is still far away yet. I really only have about 2 more updates left for this, so I guess I will just bite the bullet and do it already.

DAY 6, MARCH 13, 2012, cont.'d

We left AK to board a bus headed to our ADR destination. Once we arrived we checked in and then went outside to wait for our table to be ready. Lucky for us there was quite a sight to see while we waited...

DSCN2488.jpg

Can you guess where we would be dining on this particular evening? We were at Animal Kingdom Lodge...but which restaurant?

Here is another hint:
DSCN2489.jpg

On this night we would be dining at Sanaa! This restaurant was gorgeous. We had a savannah view table. :cool1: The food was divine...and I remembered to take a couple of food porn pictures!!! :thumbsup2 Jillian is actually the one who said, "Mommy, you have GOT to get a picture of this!" when her dish came to the table. Yes folks...we have a Diser in training! :rotfl:

She chose to dine on "Today's Sustainable Fish - with Shrimp and Scallops served with seasonal Vegetables in a light Curry Broth" (thank you allears.net)
DSCN2493.jpg

She did a lot of ooh-ing and aah-ing while feasting on this!

I chose the Chicken with Red Curry Sauce and the Beef Short Ribs (since I made the unwise decision NOT to order the delicious short ribs at Chefs de France). These were served with Basmati Rice:
DSCN2492.jpg

This was sooo good, too!

Now, I did not remember to take a picture of my dessert, but I cannot recommend it enough! I had the Chai Cream. Let me see if I can google an image of it to share...

ChaiCream.jpg

*this image came from the website aklresort.com

This stuff was soooooooo good! I looked up a recipe...too complicated! :crazy2:

As we got ready to leave that evening, we had a chance to spread a little pixie dust of our own. pixiedust: I had printed out tip envelopes for our servers at all TS restaurants. Our server on this evening LOVED IT!!! She just gushed and gushed over it. She had us write her name on the front of it so that she could share a picture of it on Facebook! She went around to all the other servers showing them. This made her day, and in turn made our day. This was just the perfect way to end our final evening at WDW! :cloud9:

As we left Sanaa, I had one more thing on my must-try list to look for, Zebra Domes! :hyper: So, we made a beeline for the nearest gift shop...no Zebra Domes. We looked around for other places that may have them. The evening was late, and we finally gave up. I now know they can be found in the Mara...which is in a different building from Sanaa. I WILL have some next time I go. ::yes:: I plan to try Boma when we go back, and they have them on the dessert buffet! :thumbsup2

With full bellies and tired bodies, we went home for one final sleep at POR. The next day would be our last... :sad1:

We live in Texas so i'm really not worried about the heat. My dh said that we are going to take alot of pics of Star Wars. I even convince him to spend a extra day in HS which really didn't take much to do :hyper:

Sanaa looks wonderful - and your food looked amazing. That is so awesome that your server loved your envelope - what a great idea!

Honest, the zebra domes aren't all they are cracked up to be - but I will let you decide for yourself... there was another dessert at Boma that we LOVED, but I can't remember what it was.

If you would just like to do a food print out of all your food from this trip, then I can plan my ADRs for our next trip from it. Thanks so much! ;)

So very sad to see your TR coming to an end. That last sleep at Disney is always a sad one. But we have more sleeps coming - and we know it. WHOOT!!!

I think you should post past pictures and make a pretend tr so I don't have to face my disney depression alone lol,I'm getting close to the end of mine too eeek!!!! only 2 days left of it.

It's so great that your server was excited. It is nice to see they appreciate the little things that we spend so much time on :goodvibes

I agree with D on the Zebra Domes....they were just okay. Kinda tasted like tiramisu to me and I don't love the cake drenched in alcohol thing :crazy2: But lots of people love them, so definitely try them sometime for yourself.

And you are doing at TR with all those great pictures and stories of meeting famous Jedi and stuff, right??? :hyper:

Her reaction to the envelopes made it SO WORTH IT! :goodvibes Now, dude at 50's should not have gotten such a wonderful token of appreciation! :headache:

Interesting, your take on Zebra Domes.... I still want to try them. Liddy didn't care for Dole Whip and I loved it. I just  Disney food that way though...there is something for everyone! :thumbsup2

We did eat some yummy food this last trip. :cloud9: The two places I would recommend the most are Chefs de France and Sanaa...they were our family favorites. :drinking: We did like the food at Raglan Road, but our evening was already destroyed by one of these: :squirrel: and a lousy server. :sad2:

Well, I plan to start a very loooooooong PTR, so you can use it to help ease your PDD (post Disney depression). :thumbsup2 I will still post pictures of movie nights, random Disney purchases, etc...don't worry, my life IS Disney, so the magic won't end with this TR! :smickey:

I am kind of glad I didn't spend any extra $$$ or a snack credit to get any last time, but I do plan to try them on the Boma buffet next time...just to see if I have the same opinion as you and D~ both. :scratchin

THE END...AKA: DAY 7, MARCH 14, 2012

I am going to do this day all in one post...because I have only one stinkin' picture to show for it.

We got up pretty bright and early on this day, because we were to meet some friends at the Epcot rope drop...some IRL friends...my BFF and her family! So, if this was going to be our last day in our happy place, meeting up with them would be a great way to end the magic!

We got up and finished our last minute packing, then headed down and checked out of POR, and checked our luggage in with the UN-Magical Express desk. :sad1: We still had a little over an hour before rope drop...what to do? We thought we may just take one final walk around the resort...through the lobby, look through the gift shop, etc...THOUGHT being the key word here...

We were spotted sort of wandering aimlessly around by a DVC rep...and he snagged us...and he convinced us that we could get through a speil in an hour, and walk out with this super fast pass that would get us on both headliners (Soarin and TT) before we had to leave Epcot that day. We took the bait...

So we were swiftly whisked away to SSR for the one hour of torture...I mean the DVC speil...that took almost two hours. :headache: We repeatedly told the lady we just didn't have the $$$, but she just kept going. Oh well, we finally made it out of there with our super Fast Pass and we got over to Epcot as fast as we could.

We actually walked up just as our friends were going through bag check, so our timing was great despite the annoying set back. :thumbsup2 There were four of them and five of us. We decided to just grab regular fast passes for Soarin' and use the super Fast Pass to get the whole group on TT together.

The plan worked good. Not perfect, because they somehow ended up with a different return time for Soarin' than us, but it was okay because we soon found out that touring with a group of 9 was just NOT FUN! So we all rode TT together and it was FUN! By the time we had aquired the Soarin' FP's and rode TT it was already lunch time...yeah, touring with a large group...NOT FUN! :headache:

We made our way back over to the Land. Our plan turned into: lunch together, then part ways. It was not a big deal...they are IRL friends, we see them all the time. No hard feelings whatsoever. :thumbsup2 We all had lunch together at Sunshine Seasons and they got to tell us about visiting Legoland and WWoHP. They were spending just the one day in Epcot, then they were off to St. Augustine. Yeah, they spent their vacation bouncing all over FL and loved it...not our idea of fun! :rotfl2:

After lunch, we had to get a group photo (with Brian missing because he was the photographer) Anyhow, at least we have documentation that we met up at WDW!

I love how Gabe is torturing "N" (BFF's little boy). :rotfl2:
DSCN2494.jpg

After this we parted ways...but I DO want to add a little side story here...it is worth it, believe me!!!

BFF and her hubby tried unsuccessfully for three years to get pregnant with a second child. (Older boy in picture is her DH's little brother). She had tried tracking ovulation, fertility drugs, they had both been tested and told everything was in working order...still no baby. :confused3 Guess what!!! She found out a month after Disney that she was pregnant!!! :dance3: She sent me a text saying...guess we brought a little of the Disney magic home with us! pixiedust: She is due at the end of November with another little boy! :earboy2:

After parting ways, our family made a beeline for Soarin. Now, you may remember from earlier in the TR that Charity is our little fraidy cat who is scared of heights. She would not go on Soarin on our first Epcot day on this trip. She had gone on it in March 2011 and cried the whole time. Well, somehow we convinced her to give it a try again since by now she had been on an airplane and done just fine. She went, and she did just fine. :yay: It is still not her favorite, but she knows now that she can just close her eyes on the parts that she doesn't like, and she is fine. I was very proud of her for doing this, and for overcoming her fear!

After Soarin' we still had a few hours before our ME bus would leave...what to do? :confused3 We were all pretty tired at this point from such fun filled week. We decided to take the Friendship Boat over to WS...to see the American Adventure. Why did we decide this? We were tired, it was air conditioned, it was quiet, and it had comfy seats. :thumbsup2 How tired were we? Three out of five of us slept through AA... not saying if I was or was not one of the three... :rolleyes1

Out timing was just about right, when we got out of AA it was time to leave the park and make our way back to POR to catch the UN-ME. But, not before we stopped for one more Disney snack!!! We grabbed some Kakigori and ate it as we walked out...MMMM...it was just right. Something light and refreshing on a hot, crowded day at Epcot. :goodvibes

The rest of the trip was uneventful. We knew we would be hungry before we got home, so we had some IRL crap, ahem, food at the McD's in MCO before we boarded the plane. We slept most of the flight, and had no spills this time. :thumbsup2 It was dark by the time we landed in Nashville. Our car was ready at the Park and Fly. The greeted us with cold bottles of water and our trunk open and ready to load up with our luggage. We had a quiet ride back home and proceeded to crash into our own beds as soon as we hit the door... :cloud9:

I will come back with one more "closing comments" post next week, then I will need to start a PTR ASAP!

That's understandable...no one wants to take pics of the last day.

Good to know how long it really takes. No way my little one would sit through 2 hours! Glad the timing worked out for you though.

We actually walked up just as our friends were going through bag check, so our timing was great despite the annoying set back. There were four of them and five of us. We decided to just grab regular fast passes for Soarin' and use the super Fast Pass to get the whole group on TT together.

By the time we had aquired the Soarin' FP's and rode TT it was already lunch time...yeah, touring with a large group...NOT FUN!

Good to know this too. If our friends do indeed come, we will have 7 of us. I am hoping they will be okay with splitting up during the touring and maybe just having meals together.

We made our way back over to the Land. Our plan turned into: lunch together, then part ways. It was not a big deal...they are IRL friends, we see them all the time. No hard feelings whatsoever. We all had lunch together at Sunshine Seasons and they got to tell us about visiting Legoland and WWoHP. They were spending just the one day in Epcot, then they were off to St. Augustine. After lunch, we had to get a group photo (with a hubby missing from each pose depending on which camera was in use,) Anyhow, at least we have documentation that we met up at WDW

(will have to insert picture <HERE> after I get home and download the darn thing to photobucket...sorry!!!!)

After this we parted ways...but I DO want to add a little side story here...it is worth it, believe me!!!

HaHaHa...I love that theater, but yeah...now that I have seen the show once, I could totally sleep in there!

Out timing was just about right, when we got out of AA it was time to leave the park and make our way back to POR to catch the UN-ME. But, not before we stopped for one more Disney snack!!! I will come back with one more "closing comments" post next week, then I will need to start a PTR ASAP!

Yes, yes you do need to... :rolleyes1 popcorn::

THE END...AKA: DAY 7, MARCH 14, 2012

This is very upsetting for me... I can''t believe it's over... My only consolation is that I know you are going again - and it will be just as magical! :thumbsup2

[I am going to do this day all in one post...because I have only one stinkin' picture to show for it.

Oh well, we finally made it out of there with our super Fast Pass and we got over to Epcot as fast as we could.

So, it really isn't the hour they promote it being? :scared: See... and I would be stuck there all day, asking questions, asking them to let me see other resorts, letting me lay in the beds... Pulling out the sofas... Cooking a meal... Watching TV... :scratchin

[We actually walked up just as our friends were going through bag check, so our timing was great despite the annoying set back. There were four of them and five of us. We decided to just grab regular fast passes for Soarin' and use the super Fast Pass to get the whole group on TT together.

Glad you all made it on time - no LARGE tour groups are no fun, IMO... Maybe for a ride here and there and a lunch, but all day - every day - NOPE.

SOunds like a good trip home - well as good as it can be considering the circumstances of an amazing trip over...

But look at all of us - we are all planning another trip back, and it will be AHHHHH-MAZING!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay:

Can't wait until you start your PTR.... I need to know your plans... Because if Suzi is stalking me - I will need to stalk you - I can't deal with her alone. :scared: :rotfl2:

D~

Yes, yes you do need to... Ooh, that sounds nice...what is this Park and Fly? I've heard about that where you stay at the hotel for the night before you fly and then take their shuttle to the airport. But I haven't heard of one where they get your car for you upon return....Hmmm, wonder if they have that at MHT???

SOON, very soon my friend!! :thumbsup2 I have already decided on a title...

Park and Fly is a 24hr manned parking lot for long term parking. You drop your car off and they take you by shuttle TO the airport, and then they will pick you up FROM the airport when you return. We really liked it. Our Park and Fly even offers to detail your car while you are gone for an extra fee. It is a very convenient service that we were glad we took advantage of.

Where is the PTR?!?!?

Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments! :goodvibes I have really enjoyed doing this TR, and can't wait to start my PTR soon. I actually feel some closure on this past trip, and have some great ideas for my PTR already!

Please let the Chicago Theater know that I am currently not booking any future appearances. My talent is being used elsewhere...if drama-filled episodes with my children count. :rolleyes1

Jillian is still working on the Kingdom Keepers book! :sad2: In her defense, she has had to read two other books for school, so that one keeps getting put on a back burner. She has FINALLY been assigned a sci-fi for her next school reading assigment, so she is going to finish Kingdom Keepers and use it for her report. I get it when she finishes, just sayin! :thumbsup2

Sugar works wonders! Our kids don't get much candy IRL, so this is always a vacation treat for them. They are ready to party it up when it kicks in...makes for some GOOD TIMES! :joker:

I am actually getting anxious to start that PTR...got ideas rolling through my brain, and I am ready to wrap this TR puppy up and get rolling on it. I will be sure to post the link when I get it started. :cheer2:

YAYYYYY I love that the end isnt really the end that makes me happy dance:yay:

Stay tuned...I have lots of fun ideas simmering for the PTR, including a pretty nifty title (if I should say so myself)! :hyper:

This is very upsetting for me... I can''t believe it's over... My only consolation is that I know you are going again - and it will be just as magical! :thumbsup2

So, it really isn't the hour they promote it being? :scared: See... and I would be stuck there all day, asking questions, asking them to let me see other resorts, letting me lay in the beds... Pulling out the sofas... Cooking a meal... Watching TV... :scratchin

Glad you all made it on time - no LARGE tour groups are no fun, IMO... Maybe for a ride here and there and a lunch, but all day - every day - NOPE.

THis is awesome!!! Congrats to them!

I started to fall asleep in AA too, but I was so scared that I would start snoring, so I tried so hard to stay awake... Next time - I will bring my travel pillow and breathe right strips. :thumbsup2

D~

I am actually getting REALLY excited to start my PTR now. I have ideas that have me giddy to get it going! :yay:

Uh NO! It definitely was NOT just an hour! :crazy2: And yes, I can imagine THEY would be the ones checking the time trying to get out of there if you were on the receiving end of the spiel! :p :rotfl2:

October should be...interesting...because we DO have others joining us, AND we will be there at the same time as my other BFF and her family...who will be staying at POFQ next to us at POR...and they have others joining them too... :crowded: ...yeah INTERESTING! :scared: But we have made it crystal clear that we do not intend to spend every waking moment together with anyone. Here's hoping it goes well. :crazy2:

Okay, so since I now have PTR ideas whizzing around in my head I feel the need to put this TR ending on the fast track! I realized I totally forgot to post our PP pictures from AK...so here ya go!

CLOSING COMMENTS

This was a great trip! I work well with bulltet points, so here is a list of my favorite highlights of the trip:

* The Reveal- it far exceeded anything I could have imagined! My childrens' response to the surprise was a very moving and proud moment for me. It moved me to see how genuinely surprised and overwhelmed they were. It made me proud because their gratitude was so apparent. :cloud9:

*SQUIRREL!- It was a very nerve-racking and traumatic moment when it happened. But now we can laugh about it....and we do...more often than we probably should... :rotfl2:

*My first ever Dismeet- it was an honor to meet these wonderful ladies. I now keep in touch with all three of them on a regular basis, and was even privileged enough to have an IRL meet with Lidian again. I am excited to see new Disfriends on my next trip. I am ECSTATIC that I will get to share a few moments with D~ and her girls again next time we go...and we may even have a few Dis surprises up our sleeves for our future TR's. :rolleyes1

*The Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage- this was just SO much fun! And the view was spectacular. It was a truly magical way to see Wishes. pixiedust:

*Getting picked for Indiana Jones- it just felt good to cut loose and be silly enough to get picked...just that one time! Brian and the kids loved seeing me get picked, it was a great memory.

* FOOD!!!!- Jalepeno Pretzels, Dole Whip, School Bread and Chefs de France. I loved how Jillian gained such an appreciation for Disney food this time. I am sure she will be all up in the ADR planning for next time.

And my #1 highlight...

* THE MOMENT- that Brian became a Disney lover too. That moment standing in line at Kilamangaro Safaris when he wrapped his arms around me and dreamed of coming, just the two of us someday.... yeah, that MOMENT. :cloud9:

I want to thank all of you for joining me on this journey. I have enjoyed doing this TR so much more than I thought I would. Next week I will start my PTR for October 2013. I will come back here for last minute replies and post a link...

Awww.... I am just so sad to see it over.

I do have to say that all of these bullets are probably my favorite highlights of your TR too.

It was so wonderful getting to know you and your wonderful family all these past months (has it almost been a year already?), I am so fortunate to have all these great Dis friends - and to count you among them. I look forward to seeing all of you in WDW next October, and hopefully spending a bit more time together. :)

(((Hugs)))
