Still plenty time till I go, but as we all know… the planning is ½ the fun :).

For the first time we’re flying into Orlando, so was going to ditch the car and use the magic express.

We normally stop off at a Publix on the way to WDW for fruit, water, breakfast cereal etc , but can’t see the coach driver being keen on this :).

Is there any 7-11s, pubix, wal*marts etc around Disney, ideally Downtown Disney, happy to walk, but don’t mind a short taxi ride.

Thanks

There is a Publix on 192 near to Animal Kingdom Lodge - I would hazard a guess that this maybe the closest supermarket to Disney! :thumbsup2
So yeah....just a short taxi ride away!

Another idea, maybe you could do a bit of online shopping before you go and have it delivered to where you are staying? A couple of websites:

www.gardengrocer.com and www.wegoshop.com

Happy trip planning! :thumbsup2

Yes, definitely do the online shopping. It's so worth it because it comes right to your hotel room door when you arrive.
We use WeGoShop and love and recommend it, but because you are coming from the UK, you may like garden grocer better as you are able to go onto their site and order what you want from their "grocery isles".
With WeGoShop, you pick the store you want them to shop at(we do Whole Foods) and you need to know just what you want and send them your list.
I know with WGS that they charge the actual cost of the groceries, plus their % fee. I don't know about garden grocer as we have never used them before. :)

Another quick question, how does it work with the room number etc.... We'll be staying at All Star Music, do they get the room number for the resort, or will I need to supply that??.

Thanks again

they drop the delivery to guest services and then once you get to your room you ring down and if its arrived already (you book a slot like at tescos) guest services will bring it to your door. we used garden groucers twice now and can def reccomend them, a life saver for us as it means i dont have to pack nappies, baby foods etc

Now Scott did you not believe me ;)

PS you need to get yourself a ticker :thumbsup2

I used to live in DC and half the fun for me is just going around the grocery store (sad i know) identifying all the products I used to love.

There is also a Goodings at Crossroads, about 25 minutes walk from DTD along Hotel Plaza Boulevard. Alternatively, you could catch Lynx buses 50 or 111 from either the MK Ticket & Transportation Centre or DTD to the end of Hotel Plaza Boulevard - both buses run every 30 minutes.

closest to downtown Disney is the hess garage 3-4 minute walk from West side bus stop

I am currently working on an order with Garden Grocer (our first time) We love just wandering around the supermarket BUT with 3 small children after a 4 hour drive up from Miami it sounded a bit hellish to me.

Just getting the basics to keep us going for breakfasts and snacks etc. Will probably make a return visit if we decide to eat an evening meal at the house.

any hoo back to Garden Grocer - very easy site to use, it saves your order so I have been adding to it when I think about it.

We will definitely do this next year - for similar reasons. Looks like they have a good selection.

cheers for the help folks.... and I know the very one you mean Paul, thanks

grab a taxi to wal-mart. you wont believe the prices for groceries , and for clothing etc. its absolutely ludicrous , how cheap it is.

Do lynx buses actually stop here, we"re not driving this year just me and 2 DD but one of our traditions used to be goodings and red lobster but cost of taxi is putting us off

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure if there is a stop directly outside Crossroads - you may have to get off at one of the hotels towards the end of Hotel Plaza Boulevard where you would only be a few minutes walk away. If no-one else can answer, I'm sure the bus driver would be able to help you.
