Hi all! I was dying to do a food review, since I enjoy reading all of the ones on here. I don't have pics, but I will try my best to keep you entertained with words.

Here's the cast of characters:
Me (31), DH (34), and DS (7)---we are not picky eaters at all. DS doesn't like things that are really spicy, but that's about it.

We were in the World from April 13-17. It was my first time in 15 years, DH's first in 5, and DS's first EVER. We stayed at POP and were on the DDP.

Now that the introductions are over, let's jump into the food!

Sunday--Arrived at POP super early to park our bags and get our KTTW cards and parking pass. Ate breakfast in the POP Food Court (OOP) before heading to the MK.
DH & DS both had POP Waffles with bacon and sausage. (DS loves his breakfast). I had a POP Waffle with strawberry topping. We got our refillable mugs (coffee for DH, Coke Slushie for DS, Coke for myself). All three pronounced waffles as "yummy". Boys said that the bacon and sausages were excellent as well.

Off to the MK. After a few rides, we were hungry again. We got off of POTC right at lunch time, so we decided to eat at El Pirata y El Piroto (or whatever it's really called). DS had the quesadilla kids meal with grapes, carrot sticks, and a sprite. DH and I had the taco salads with Cokes and Haagen Daas ice cream bars for dessert. I didn't know what to expect from this place, but I loved it. The food was great, and the toppings bar was fresh. DS ate my ice cream, because I cleaned my plate. Our second favorite counter service of the trip.

After lunch, we headed back to the room before our Crystal Palace ADR at 5...Which we decided to cancel in order to take a super nap to prepare us for MK EMH that lasted until 3 a.m. :scared1: So, I called dining and got a reservation for Concourse Steakhouse at 9. I had really wanted to eat here since i had heard great things and it's closing in June. After our naps, we went to MK to get our "ears" and some fastpasses, and had a snack of popcorn and coke. I love this popcorn and I swear that they put crack on top of it. So good!

Dinner was at 9 at the Concourse. We arrived about 10 minutes early, and had to wait about 20 minutes. I ordered the beef tenderloin, with the bread salad, and DH had the strip. DS had chicken. The only problem that I had about this restaurant was that they brought out DS's food super early (before our salads) and the chicken was cold when he got it. We complained to our waiter, who promptly sent it back and brought him a new dinner when our entrees came out. All was well. Our food was great. My tenderloin was cooked perfectly and was so tender that I could cut it with a fork. DH proclaimed his steak as "wonderful wonderful wonderful", or at least that's what I thought he said. He was talking with a mouthful of steak. I loved the bread casserole. So yummy and flavorful. DS said that his build your own sundae was the greatest dessert ever. My creme brulee was to die for, and DH stabbed me in the hand with his fork when I tried to get a bite of his butterfinger cheesecake. So I guess it was good.:goodvibes

After that, we headed to the MK for rides until 2 a.m. I have to go do some work :guilty: but I'll be back to start on Monday's reviews, with Sunshine Seasons and Biergarten!

Okay, I'm the only one in the office, so I'll sneak in Monday's reviews.

Monday!
Exhausted from late EMH's at the MK, we slept in a little and had muffins and froot loops in the room before heading to Epcot. After riding Test Track and getting fastpasses for Soarin', we decided to grab lunch at Sunshine Seasons. I'd heard great things about the food here, so I had planned on trying to be there for lunch. DH had the Black Forest Ham with Coke and Strawberry Cheesecake. He loved the sandwich and the dessert. I tried a bite of the dessert, but it wasn't sweet enough for me! DS had the Kids' meal sandwich (turkey) with carrots and pudding. He liked it. I had the rotisserie chicken, salad, and mashed potatoes, with fruit tulip for dessert. The chicken was okay (your average rotisserie chicken), as were the potatoes. I loved the fruit tulip. I shared it with DS, and he loved it too. In conclusion, the food here was nothing special, but it was good. A lot of food for the money. I'd probably eat here again, but I'll try something different next time.

Snack was a frozen lemonade and cokes from the Refreshment Outpost. They were...refreshing.

Dinner was Biergarten at 5:15. I was nervous about having to sit with other families, but we were seated with a fantastic couple from New York. We had a table right next to the stage, and DS got up to dance. DS ate a ton of bratwurst (he called them hotdogs), I ate my weight in sauerkraut, and DH, well, he had an incident with pickled herring (he thought it was potato salad) and it pretty much ruined his meal. Oh, well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad. I don't know if we'll go back here, but I thought the food was great. DH and I also had a beer flight each that we paid OOP, and I thought that it just added to the meal. DS had a Sprite (this is something you'll see a lot of. He's not allowed to drink a lot of sodas at home, but he thinks that Sprite is the nectar of the gods). So, for you keeping score, food =good, Entertainment= good, company=good, pickled herring=not good.

Next up: Tuesday, where we head to DHS, tackle ABC Commissary, miss our ADR at Sci Fi, and end up at WCC. Was it a good choice? You'll have to stay tuned!

Tuesday--Our day for DHS. We got up and had muffins in the room so we could be there for rope drop. After rides and such, we stopped at the ABC Commissary for lunch around 11:30. Wow, I wish we hadn't done that. This was the worst meal of the trip. I had the "Lost" Fish basket with the chocolate mousse for dessert. The fish was just okay, the fries were soggy, and the mousse was a little too thick for my taste. DH had the "Ugly Betty" burger with the strawberry dessert. His fries were soggy, too. He said that the burger was dry and the dessert was okay. DS had chicken fingers with apple slices and a cookie. He liked the chicken and apples, but said that the cookie was hard. I know that CS is lacking in DHS, but this was pitiful.

Dinner was supposed to be at 4:55 at Sci fi, but we decided to leave the studios around 3 because DS wanted to go back to POP and swim. So, we stopped by the concierge at POP to see about trading ADR's. (I didn't know this could be so easy!) They had a 6:30 at Whispering Canyon Cafe, and I was dying to eat there, so we chose that. What a great choice. I was nervous because DH tends to be a little on the shy side around strangers, so I didn't know how he would respond to the atmosphere. Let me just say that all of my fears were for nothing. Example? I came back from the bathroom and he was up in front of the room doing "I'm a Little Teapot". We had a blast! DS did a pony race and loved carrying crayons to other tables. We'll be back, but our only complaint was that it took so LONG. We were there for over 2 hours. I know this is probably the norm, but we weren't expecting it. But, like I said, this will be a tradition for us. We all three had the skillet, with DH drinking Sam Adams, me drinking a Western Sunset (yummy!), and DS drinking Sprite. We had the skillet, which was so freaking good. The ribs and barbecue were to die for, as were the beans and cornbread. We had the dessert nachos for dessert (DS had the worms and dirt). We were STUFFED when we left. I was so full when we got back to the room that I couldn't even drink a beer. The horror!

So, the tally for Tuesday was one bad meal, and one AWESOME meal.

For Wednesday, we hit AK for a little Yak and Yeti CS for lunch, and Ohana for dinner!

I love this popcorn and I swear that they put crack on top of it. So good!

I totally agree! But I don't think the crack is limited to just the popcorn. I have a feeling they've developed a way to infuse crack into the air. And that, my friends, is how we've all developed our Disney addition. :grouphug:

Great reviews! :thumbsup2

Okay, where was I? Oh, Wednesday....we headed to the AK (after breakfast of Muffins and Corn Pops in the room, of course). After riding and seeing a few things, DH was starving, so we stopped at the Yak and Yeti CS for a bite. Oh, wow. It didn't look like much at first glance, but it was super good. DH had the sweet and sour pork, I had the honey glazed chicken, and DS had the egg roll kids meal with carrot sticks and a cookie. DH's pork was yummy, and I don't usually eat pork! DS must have loved his egg roll, because he ate every bite. When I looked in the box, I thought my chicken looked like Mickey D's Chicken McNuggets on lo mein, but it tasted way better. The lo mein was great. DH and I both had mango pie for dessert and it was tasty! Different, but tasty! This was our favorite CS of the trip, and we will stop here next time we're in AK.

After AK, we went to DHS to ride Tower of Terror a couple of times and back to the room to relax before our 6:30 dinner at Ohana. On our way to the room, DS and I went to the Pop Food Court to grab a snack. He had a box of Nutter Butters, and I got a Mickey Bar. Yum. I was super excited about Ohana because this looked like something we would love, and we did. It was our favorite TS and we will be back. As I was checking in, DH stepped over to the bar to get a beer, and when I met him, he was holding a pineapple in his hand. He got me a Lapu Lapu! I'm a total lightweight, so I was a little bit tipsy after I finished it. DH had Sam Adams with his meal, and DS had Sprite. We loved every bit of this meal. My favorite part was the noodle dish. I could have just eaten that as my meal. DS loved the wings. He ate a whole plate. DH loved everything. The bread pudding was awesome. I could have just drank the sauce on top. (According to sources, I tried! Blame it on the Lapu Lapu).

All right, one more day to go...Thursday, with Casey's and Liberty Tree Tavern.

Absolutely. That has to be the reason that I've already started planning next year's trip.

Okay, last day of dining adventures. Thursday. After our breakfast of, you guessed it, muffins, we headed to Epcot. After a morning there, we headed to MK for lunch at Casey's. It was so crowded! We did find a place to sit down in the little "movie theater" next door, but it was still crowded. DS got the Corn Dog Nuggets (which we all sampled and loved) and fries, with a Fanta and Cracker Jacks for dessert. DH and I got the hot dog and fries. I had CJ's for dessert, and he got the brownie. This was a TON of food. Loved the toppings bar, but our hot dog buns fell apart, and it's hard to put toppings on falling apart hot dogs. Nothing special here. I doubt we'll try this one again. We saved our Cracker Jacks and brownie for later, and the brownie finally got eaten last night!

After fighting strollers in the MK, we decided to head back to the hotel for Pool Time. On the way out, I stopped at Aloha Isle for my first ever Dole Whip Float. I'm in love.

We had 7:45 ADR's for Liberty Tree Tavern, so we headed back to the MK around 5 for a little ride time. DH wanted one last batch of Popcorn, so we used the last of our snack credits for popcorn and cokes. (Most of our snack credits were used on frozen lemonades!)

Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. The character interaction was awesome. This was our only character meal after we canceled CP, and I was anxious to see if DS would be interested. He had a ball! Our waiter was not great, but the food made up for it. We totally enjoyed the meats, and had a couple of servings. We're big meat eaters, so our TS's suited us!!!! The apple cobbler was good, but not as good as grandma's. I don't see us doing this one again. Next trip, if DS still wants to see Characters, we'll try Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace (We'll actually GO this time!). It was good, but not a repeat performance.

Alas, we left on Friday. We've already compiled a list of places we want to go to next trip. Here's my rundown:
Favorite Table Service Dinner: Ohana
Favorite Snack: Tie between the Dole Whip and the Popcorn
DS favorite food item: Ohana Sticky Wings
DH's favorite food item: the giant spears of meat at Ohana
My favorite food item: the bread at Ohana or the cornbread at WCC
Worst Food Decision-ABC Commisary
Places we will return to: Yak and Yeti CS, Ohana, WCC, Pop Food Court, and probably Sunshine Seasons.

That's all!

great reviews! thanks for sharing! love Ohanas! will have to try yak n yeti!

Dinner was Biergarten at 5:15. and DH, well, he had an incident with pickled herring (he thought it was potato salad) and it pretty much ruined his meal.

I had this EXACT same experience! It happened 10 years or so ago and I am still not over the trauma!!

Thanks for your reviews!

Thanks for your reviews!

I'll have to tell him that he's not alone! He says that he had nightmares about it that night. :rotfl2: For the record, the ACTUAL potato salad was fantastic.
