We are cruising in Jan 06 on Eastern Magic. I was wondering if they have crab, lobster or filet, or steak. Is the only available on certain nights, or maybe just at Palo's. I'm looking forward to the dining and would love to be able to get my favorites

Lobster is served on semiformal night, Thursday. You can ask for more than one if you would like. :) There is some cut of steak on the menu every night. The filet at Palo melts in your mouth, as well as the tenderloin that they slice very thin at the brunch. :) :) :)

Watch the menu closely..on our 14 night..we had lobster offered in a variety of ways..3 or more nights.

Steak is available every night.

We had the most wonderful crab cakes..don't remember which night..I think pirate night (appetizer menu).

The food has really gotten good on the magic! Enjoy!

Yes, and they can even make you a surf and turf on Lobster night, but definitely ask more lobster tails.... :cool1:

I am very glad that some of the previous posters enjoyed the crab cake appetizer on Pirate night. The bottom line on all food or wine is one's own individual taste. That said, I post to offer an opposing view that the crab cake appetizer was definitely in the bottom half of crab cakes we have had and was one of the reasons we chose pirate night to be the night we skipped the dining room and went to Palo when we cruised again 2 1/2 months later. Perhaps the folks who liked the crab cakes have never been to Maryland, or some other reason why they have not had better crabcakes.

There is also a filet on the final night of the cruise, the night after "lobster night"/semi-formal captain's gala menu. I think the menu on the last night is Master Chefs? Best of? In any event, a nice filet on that menu in the dining room, very good, but not as good as the filet in Palo. And the strip sirloin that is always on every menu as a "default" selection was really better than I had remembered from two years ago when I cruised earlier this year.

We ordered 2 lobster tails each on captain's gala night and enjoyed them, enjoyed the service of our asistant server removing the tails from the shells. Sounds like your favorites will be well represented and available on the Eastern.

Wow logan..sorry to hear..on our recent may (repo) cruise..the food in the dining rooms was so outstanding..we opted not to return to Palo again..lol.

The food we were served rivaled some of the best restaurants from around the US that we have visited.

Never been to Maryland, but I always laugh when we get visitors from the coast in Minnesota and they want to go out for sushi. Some things are regionally famous. I know the steak on the cruise can't hold a candle to good steak in Chicago and Kansas City. And I suspect that the reason Maryland is famous for crab cakes is because they are darn good there. (Come here and we will feed you walleye.)

Its a matter of expectations. We find the food on DCL to be good, not excellent. But I have a high bar for excellent.

On the Enchantment they served almost 6,000 lobster tails for about 2,200 guests on our cruise in January according to our server. There were 4 adult men at our table and had our fair share of that almost 6,000. I will not list specifically how many per, but let's just say it was more than 2. :cool1: pirate:

This is where it is all a matter of taste. I thought the May repo cruise had some of the worst food we ever had on DCL (and in my opinion they have never been known for their food). We were served cold food and steaks ordered medium well were served very rare. However, I don't eat seafood but was assured by the others at my table that the lobster dishes were good each time they showed up on the menu.

I LOVE lobster, but being from New England, I can't say that I enjoyed the lobster tail, and I actually never got it again. When you are use to Maine Lobster, eating it hours after it is caught...the lobster tails on the Magic just can't compare.

Lobster burgers.... :earseek: Your kidding right? That would be the ultimate!

Lobster anytime is good, but your right east coast lobster is the best just after it is caught!!! yum yum :cloud9:

I was surprised on our last cruise by the quality of the lobster tail. It was so tender that it reminded me of the lobster rolls we use to get up in Maine. :) It wasn't tough or overcooked that time. I almost asked for another but didn't want to chance getting a different batch.
