Was just at thanksgiving and a person made a pie that was delicious. She said she didn’t have a food processor as she just had a basic kitchen. Her quote.
I would be willing to spend $100. A coisonart 8 cup is in the budget.
Would this be a good ? Do people use these?

i cook all the time I never bake. And never used one. Yes or no for a Christmas gift?

Do you think she was hinting for a gift?

Me, personally, I don't have one, either. And I probably wouldn't use one if someone gave it to me. I have enough "gadgets" in my kitchen that I'm used to.

She was def hinting lol in the headshot of my mom and me. I spend around $100 bit if that small a size isn’t helpful I don’t want to buy it

Have a smaller chopper and use it all the time. Grinding nuts for cookie recipes or making graham crackers crumbs for a pie crust are typical examples. If you never bake, probably wouldn't use it enough. Those larger units also have attachments for things like shredding vegetables for salads. The smaller units are less then $40. Those larger ones would be more in the $100+ range.

I'm confused as to what this had to do with a delicious pie? :confused3 Honestly, I'm not a small appliance person. Over the years I've returned almost every one I've ever been given. Ask her first if she wants one or make sure to give a gift receipt so it can be returned or exchanged. FTR if the Cuisinart model you're looking at is similar to this, it would have more than adequate capacity. 8 cups is about as big as they come.

I have a quisinart. And use it maybe once a year. It works well, but it's heavy and lives on the pantry floor, because there's no room on the counter

I like it for what it does. I have 2 mini choppers that I use weekly

Had one years ago with several attachments - seldom used it - donated it - don't miss it - love other small appliances that I have tho. - maybe she would use it, a lot of people love them.

I use mine occasionally such as when I make applesauce, need breadcrumbs, etc. It's one of those things that I don't use most of the time, but when I do use it I'm really glad I have it. I got mine several years ago at a Macys Black Friday sale. Macy's is one of the few stores that still has good Black Friday sales.

I use my Cuisinart mostly for chopping nuts for cookies, and for shredding (finely grating) cheese. If I can find finely shredded cheese at the grocery store, it saves me the bother of using the food processor. And yes, I can also buy chopped nuts as well.

Is the pie maker interested in using a food processor for making pie crust? If she thinks she'll really use it then the 8 cup would be a good size. I have other small appliances that take up a lot counter top space in the kitchen, but it's nice to have them when I need them. Making pie crust isn't my idea of a good time, but that doesn't mean someone else wouldn't enjoy making them with a food processor.

I spent more than that on a Kitchen Aid food processor 10 plus years ago that I never used. Ended up selling at our garage sale. But, for some people I know who have one and use it regularly, they love it.

I have a Cuisinart food processor that I got for our wedding (over 25 years ago). It's about that size (8-cup ish). I do not use it often (it's heavy, and kind of a pain to clean), but when I do use it, it works well. I think 8 cups is big enough for normal household usage.

For the person who was wondering, lots of people swear by a food processor for making pie crust. I've never tried it myself, but I have seen it on numerous cooking shows.

I don’t have a separate appliance, but my Ninja blender, which was a gift, has a food processor attachment. I’ve only used it a few times, to chop nuts, and make guacamole and salsa.

I would say, if your relative/friend suggested she wants one, then I’d buy it for her, why not?

I love my Cuisinart. It gets things done that my mini Krups chopper and Ninja don’t do as well. I use it make homemade peanut butters, pestos, salad dressings, hummus, cutting butter into flour. Yummy.

Thanks everyone. I wanted to make sure that the $100 model was good enough.

my mom is going to just give her (not a gift) her kitchen aid stand mixer since mom never uses it.

thinkiing she may still want the food processor for other things. She is an excellent baker!

I have to say..we have the Ninja blender which comes with a food processor attachment. It is awesome! For smoothies in the blender to chopping veggies in the food processor. Highly recommend.

I got a cuisinart food processor for a wedding gift 20 years ago and it’s one of the small appliances I do actually use on a regular basis.

I use it most often to make hummus, pesto, and to shred cucumbers for tzatziki. I have used it to make pie crust in the past.

I love my cuisinart food processor, mine has a 14 cup capacity. I don’t use it too often because I’ve cut down on my baking, but when I do it’s an absolute lifesaver. I will say that my favorite pie crust recipe just uses my hands, no need to dirty the food processor for it.

An eight cup cuisinart is fine for the average kitchen. I’ve had one since the late seventies . It’s the KitchenAid it took me forever to buy.

The only time that I have used a food processor is when my kids were babies and I made their baby food. But I have not used it in almost 2 decades. I do use my kitchen aid stand mixer for baking though.
