Went to DTD and Epcot today and notice the food prices at the quick serve places have increased. I noticed a hot dog at DTD now costs 5.00 and the combo with a hot dog, bag of chips and soda is $8.50.
Then went to Epot and a funnel cake is $6.00. A 22 oz soda is $2.19, up a dime for $2.09. Went to the Liberty Inn and a Cheeseburger and fries is $6.59. And the kids meals have jumped to $4.99. A bbq pork sandwich and fries is over $8.00. Chicken breast nugget meal was over $6.00. those are all the prices i can remeber at the moment.

I wonder if that's why Chef Mickey's was more expensive when we went last week. It was the Tuesday after MLK so I wasn't sure if maybe the holiday season pricing ran that late, but we were charged holiday prices.

<<Could this be Disney's way of encouraging the DDP???>>
No, it's their way of getting more money out of us lol

DH often buys the full size Mickey head rice crispie treat at the Main St candy store.
We noticed the price increased and the head has shrunk considerably. Obviously a different mold being used.
I would guess the individual bar process have increased too. :confused3

I'm sure it's just because of rising food prices.

They like you to get the DDP because they know they'll get X amount of money whether you eat out or not.

and that i why for the first time ever, when we go in March, we will be bringing our lunch with us to the parks (except for MK).

For MGM, Epcot and AK we are going to leave our food in a cooler in the car and take a break and walk out to the parking lot to eat. Since the three of us are adults this will work best for us. We will get counter service at MK since we can't park outside the gates and I don't want to drag a cooler of food around. I carry enough stuff LOL.

We are also going to eat a huge breakfast in our room instead of eating out, and since the parks are closing so early this year we figured if we eat a late lunch we can have dinner around 7:30 - 8:00 back at our resort (Saratogo). I am bringing the Crockpot and food with us from home since we are driving.

We do have two ADR's cause I wasn't giving up Chef Mickey's and DSS wants to go to Prime Time and it is his birthday .

It will definitely be a different dining experience than usual but for the three of us our dinners were going to avr. over $100 per meal and lunch close to $40 With or without the dining plan we would have been spending close to a $1000 on meals, that is my grocery budget for 3-4 months. I told DH it just wasn't going to happen, even on vacation. Not with the economy the way it is..

Of course my March trip is still subject to my having a job. Lose my job and the trip goes away.

Maybe it's because I am used to gouging at my local parks but the new prices don't sound too bad.

A 22 oz soda at my local parks, Dorney Park and Great Adventure are $3.49 at both. The cheeseburger and fries is $11.99 at Great Adventure (and 1 slice of pizza is $6.50!)

Of all the amusement parks I go to, I always find Disney to be the cheapest for food (except Knoebel's but that is the exception and even there a 20 oz soda is $2.00)

Food prices have really increased at the grocery store, too.

Someone told me that there is a five year cycle to food prices going up and down. I have no idea. We will have to see if WDW's food prices go down in five years. LOL

I do, however, remember the large water used to be $2.50, and now it is $2.00.

And of course, we all remember when the DDP went down by $1.00, but the appetizer and tip went out the window.

Oh well,

Have fun,

I too have found Disneys food to be cheaper than most amusement parks tho the one closest to us that we go to the most has FREE parking FREE softdrinks an FREE sunscreen and their ice cream cones are HUGE an was only like 1.50 last summer.

I did not notice the higher prices when we were there last week since we were on the DDP, however I did notice that they have gotten more stingy with the DDP allotments. Most noticeable was that last year an individual cereal and milk used to count as 1 snack credit, now it is 2.

Those prices seem kinda cheap to me as well.:scratchin

After spending a small fortune on food at Shea stadium or the US Open, I find it hard to complain about Disney prices.

I many times have compared Disney to our local park as well (Cedar Point). I remember at one time a few years back when Cedar Point raised their ticket prices many people wondered why they would charge so much for attendance. Their response was something like "well Disney does it, and we are just as good as Disney"...uh no, not true!

The way I look at it is that it's a vacation for us. We go once a year and work VERY hard through the year to go. We normally always stay at the value resorts and drive down so that in the week (or maybe a little more) we are there we have saved enough to do what we want.

It was nice to get the $200 gift card this year, because each of the kids can have $100 of that for spending plus my mom have given them some money as well. I'm really looking forward to going down in 2 weeks and knowing that I have worked so hard over the past year to be able to really enjoy Disney the way I want.

I find the prices at WDW to be reasonable, but am really on the fence at the moment about buying the DDP. DH thinks it's a lot of money to lay out all at once, but it seems like we would at least break even with the plan. :confused3 Oh well, we've still got 2 months to think about it I guess.
