Only 20 more days!!!!

I'm so excited! We will be there the same time as you! Hopefully reading your reviews will help me get over my post-Disney World blues :goodvibes

Yay...maybe we'll run into each other.
BTW..what kind of dog is that as your avatar? The face looks a little like ours.

Ok..we're back. Quite a few changes to the dining but still some great food....and lots of pics to make you all hungry.

Our first meal was at Raglan Road. I apologize, no pics for this one. We were meeting up with a couple of dis'er and in all the excitement I forgot to take pictures.

Jeff started with the soup of the day. I honestly don't remember this one because it was gone in no time. I saw it come out and then the next time I looked, it was gone, so I'm pretty sure it had to be good.
I started with with the
Scallop Forest - Georges Bank Scallops in a golden batter served with citrus lime dipping sauce & sweet chili jam. These were done perfectly. If you haven't already seen pics of these. Each scallop is stuck on a fork, so they look like little scallop trees. The dipping sauces were good. I preferred the citrus lime sauce ..yummy

For entrees, both Jeff and I got
Fish & Chips - Our famous beer battered fish n chips with fresh tartar sauce.
They were very good, hot and crispy but not greasy...and a very generous portion.

For dessert ...of course we had to try
Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding
Like no other pudding you have ever tried.
Believe us.

This was also really good. I'm not a huge bread pudding fan but I had to see what all the fuss was about. The sauces that come with are a gift from heaven. I was pretty full, so I only ate half. It is a little heavy on a hot day but still really good.

I would give Raglan Road a 7 out of 10. The food was very good, service was also good...just nothing exceptional.

Meal number 2..Jiko

How do you say yummy in in African?

Here is their bread and butter spread. I'm sorry I didn't take better notes...I was too busy stuffing my face...but the butter had a cinnamon spice taste. It was excellent!

I started with the
Brentwood Creamy Corn Soup with Jumbo Lump Crab, Crushed Avocado, Corn, and Sweet Chili Sour Cream
P9300042.JPG

Yes, the white lumps are huge pieces of crab. This in an amazing soup. If you like corn chowder, you will love this. I could've licked the bowl. but I refrained.

Jeff had

Merguez Sausage, Piquillo Peppers, Onions, Midnight Moon, Arugula, and Muhammara Yogurt.
Must've been good, because it was gone before I could get a taste. Of course my head was submerged in my bowl of soup at the time so we'll cut Jeff some slack on this one.

For entrees...

I had
Maize-crusted Corvina with Vegetables of the Moment and Tomato-Butter Sauce.
This was really good. It definitely needed the sauce though, because the Corvina itself was pretty bland.
P9300044.JPG

The vegetables of the moment...and believe me, they only lasted a moment on my plate were excellent.

Jeff had
Oak-grilled Filet Mignon with Hominy “Risotto”, California Asparagus, and Red Wine Reduction
P9300043.JPG

He though this was excellent, although different than the last time he ordered this. I think they may be cooking it differently. The texture was almost as if it was slow cooked. Almost flaky. The flavor was great and the it was done exactly medium rare. The risotto was the best I've had. I did get a taste this time:thumbsup2

For dessert we shared
Cheesecake, caramel and toffee - Creamy Madagascar vanilla cheesecake layered with salted caramel, whipped cream and chocolate covered coffee beans

Unfortunately no pic...
We were so full, we took it back to the room and ate it later. I was going to take a picture for all of you..however, it kind of got jostled around a bit on it's travels and didn't look that great. But it tasted fantastic.

Oh and for a beverage, I had the safari amber. This was a really nice beer. I'm kind of picky about my beers. This was very refreshing, light but with lots of flavor.

Rating for Jiko....8.5 out of 10.

Liberty Tree Tavern

Ok so this was a first for us. We've eaten alot of places but Liberty Tree Tavern has not ever piqued our interest. However, we decided to go to the 40th anniversary of WDW and needed to make a reservation somewhere in the park, since at first nothing was announced as to when or what was going on. When I looked..the only thing available was LTT or Tony's Town Square. Been to Tony's before and ruled that one out.:snooty:

We booked the first lunch reservation of the day at 11:30am. One of the cutest kids opened the restaurant for the day by ringing a bell. We were announced and shown to our table shortly after. We were seated in one of the more intimate areas in the back, which we were thankful for!!! The restaurant got a lot busier within the next half hour or so.

Our waitress Cheri was very chatty and nice. Helpfully suggesting the things she thought we would enjoy and making small talk about the 40th. It seemed it was a very exciting day for them also. Cheri said she had worked there since around 1996. Don't quote me though...I didn't take notes.

I started with the
PA010086.JPG

Declaration Salad Field Greens tossed in your choiceof our Tavern-made Dressing or Garlic-Buttermilk Dressing.
It was very good..nothing crazy but a good salad.

Jeff had this
PA010085.JPG

This was a special. It was a pumpkin squash chowder. Sounds festive so he decided to try it. Well Cheri came over..took one look at his face...and said..I'll bring you the New England Clam chowder. I'm not saying the pumpkin/squash chowder was bad, but it was not to his taste. He said it had too much of a sweet taste.

Here's the New England Clam Chowder
PA010087.JPG

This one disappeared very quickly. He gave this one :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We went with Cheri's recommendations for the our entrees.

I had
PA010088.JPG

Pilgrims’ Feast Traditional Roast Turkey served with Herb Bread Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, and a Garden Vegetable
This was good...it was comfort food. It was also huge. I finished about half of it. Honestly I was all set to be disappointed....but although slightly different than our Thanksgiving dinner....it was very good.

Jeff had
PA010089.JPG

New England Pot Roast . . .
Our Tavern Keeper’s Favorite Braised Beef in a Cabernet Wine and Mushroom
Sauce served with Mashed Potatoes and Garden Vegetables
Jeff like this also...it went.."All Gone" I did get a taste it was really good.

Although I was all set to have

Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake
Vanilla Cake with a Gooey Toffee Filling, Caramel Sauce, and Vanilla Ice Cream

We were just too full!

I hate to break it to you guys...but this is going to be a trend for us. Not a ton of dessert pics.

All in all...This restaurant was good. Would I get up at 7 AM to make sure I got a ressie....NO!
I think this would be a fabulous restaurant during the winter..it's got the holiday feel. In 95 degree...not so great of a choice. There are some lighter entrees on the menu but I think these type of foods are what they do best.

Ratings - food - 7.5 out of 10
Service - 9.5 out of 10

I will add my disclaimer now...this applies to all previous and future reviews. This our opinion and only our opinion....according to our tastes ....and applies to only this visit....and our opinion could and will probably change on a future visit.
