I have had 2 items I thought were really good and the rest has ranged from good to just OK. Palo is much better than the dining rooms but I based my answer on just the regular dining room meals.

Cruised Disney, NCL, RCL, HAL and Paquet. All had great food, Paquet had the best, but their specialty was gourmet food, so that is to be expected. The fact that wine was included at no extra charge with lunch and dinner also was nice on Paquet.

I've been on two DCL cruises and both times I always founds something really good. This last time, in January, I thought it was even better quality than the first time which was a few years ago.

Ya know, if I'm not cookin' then Anything is good to me:rotfl2:

Really though, I've been to some pretty nice restaurants while growing up here in NYC
and both me and my DH are impressed with the food....
His mom is even an authentic Italian-American mama and he loved the food.

When you read these boards, there's always going to be someone who will pick everything apart.
You know what?
You're on vacation, you go to each meal stress-free, you sit down in a wonderfully decorated restaurant that is clean,
the presentation of the meal is beautiful; really, what's not to like?:cloud9:

To me the food is good to great. Palo, on the other hand is EXCELLENT!

We travel every couple of months and enjoying great food is on the top of our list of things we do when we travel. We recently traveled to Kauaii where we enjoyed the Hyatt's top rated restaurant as well as many others in the area. We stayed and ate at the Arizona Biltmore last Feb and in November, enjoyed Tucson's number one rated restaurant, Janos.

In comparison, we thought the Disney Magic food quality was very good and the dinners were very impressive which surprised us after reading some of the less than good reviews. It's not upscale service but you get ongoing "attention" in particular to the kids (in our case). But we really liked our servers and think the service issue has more to do with the way they train their servers and have them follow you around. We actually don't like that aspect...it gets too friendly for us and we'd like some variety in our interactions with waitstaff.

Anyway...as far as the food...the lobster, shrimp and fish were wonderful, the tenderloin was perfect, the chicken was tender and couldn't be better. The Topsider lunch buffet had loads of peel and eat shrimp, crab claws, marinated calamari and desserts galore. The only thing I didn't like at dinner was the crab cake appetizer.

That's our opinion...BTW..we really DON'T like chain restaurants ie: Applebee's, Friday's, Macaroni Grill, etc. if that gives you a gauge. I would say the dinner menu might be considered too "out there" for some people who are used to the basic steak, burger, fried chicken thing with nachos, mozzerella sticks and onion ring appetizers for a choice. That is NOT on the menus. Maybe that's where the food complaints stem from???? Otherwise, I truly can't imagine complaining about the food we were served in the restaurants.

While personal preference and the possibility of an 'off' night have to be considered, Palo's filet mignon was very disappointing- tender but completely without flavor. I expected that an intimate setting would allow an escape from the blandness of the main dining rooms and yet that was the common denominator of all Palo entrees...in our opinion, of course. It is only since our return that I now see reservations being expressed here about food, so we traveled with high expectations and thus were disappointed.
