Food Poisoning and Bad customer service ruined our trip

I'm sorry you and your family became sick while at WDW but unless they received multiple complaints of being sick and eating at the same restaurant during the same time frame, it's going to be very difficult to prove it was food poisoning. One of the ways it is diagnosed is through testing the food or stool samples. They can't very well obtain them at this point.

Sounds like you all had a case of Gastroenteritis which can spread quickly between family members, or people traveling together.

As far as the bathrooms being closed, of our 10 times at WDW, I've rarely, if ever, seen a bathroom closed. I agree that CM's should know how to direct you to the nearest bathroom, but other than that, I really don't see what they can do for you at this point, after all it happened way back in November. Those people who misdirected you may not even be working there anymore.

You're more than welcome to send them your complaint, but really, what do you expect Disney to do for you?

Wow. If you cannot track down someone at Disney to address your complaints, I bet an Orlando lawyer would know just who to contact and be happy to do so. The hospital paperwork should confirm a diagnosis of food poisoning. And two days in the hospital is not a frivolous lawsuit in my opinion.

Hospital? I thought she was in the hotel room for two days??

And I agree with Blondie...I'm not sure what you expect Disney to do for you...

You're right, my bad. It says "hotel" not "hospital." I thought posters were being kind of mean to these people that went to the hospital.

If three of the poeple in the OP's group became violently ill simultaneously, I do believe it was probably food poisoning. I'm sure Disney knows by now if they had a food poisoning problem that day, unfortunately the OP will not be able to prove it-- unless they can find other people on message boards who had the same problems on the same days.

I'm no doctor but I have had true food poisoning before and dying would be better than that.

It sounds like what you got was staph:

STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS
Disease: Staph
Source: Carried by people on skin, in boils, pimples, and throat infections; spread when carriers handle food. Staph bacteria produce toxins (poisons) at warm temperatures. Meat, poultry, salads, cheese, eggs, custards, and cream-filled desserts are susceptible foods.
Symptoms (after eating): Onset: 1-8 hours; vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal cramps lasting 1-2 days. Rarely fatal.
Prevention: Cooking won't destroy staph poison, so practice good personal hygiene and sanitary food handling. Don't leave perishable food unrefrigerated over 2 hours. For quick cooling, place hot food in small containers no more than 4 inches deep; cover when cool and refrigerate.

That being said, I do find it ironic that one other person on the cruise board posted about getting poisoned by pickled herring.

Who the heck would want to eat that anyway?

:teeth:

All other food poisonings take at least 4 hours to show up.
