The current state of the Paris meal plan is not all that good. You get minimal discount, unlike WDW where it's a bang for yor buck, you can definitely lose out on some money with the Paris meal plan.

It seems like most people go to DLP for 2-3 days, if that's so, what do you recommend? Can you all convince to get the food plan? From everywhere I've seen and what I've heard, I'm definitely not a fan and will do pay as you go when I visit DLP in the future.

nope, don't bother with a meal plan at DLP. Its restrictive and doesn't save you any more than at most the cost of a soft drink, over just paying for what you like when you like.

DLPdaft is right. I wanted to get a meal plan also, but it's too strict and I would even loose money. Not worth getting.

The only benefit of the Meal Plans at the moment is that you have paid for your meals in advance, which can be good with budgeting for your trip.

The last time we had them, we just used the vouchers at face value, and used them with our shareholders card. Sometimes we got the shareholders discount, and some times not depending on the resturant.

It seems like a great deal, just looking at dlrpmagic.com. Say you do full board premium, and you were already planned on eating meals on Inventions for Sunday Brunch and and Yacht Club for dinner. You're looking at about 60 pounds for Inventions without vouchers, and 35 at Yacht CLub for dinner. That'd 95 pounds with no meal plan vs the 75 you could spend on meals with the premium full board plan.

Am I missing something here? If you plan to eat at these nicer, sit down restauraunts (which most everyone recommends) isn't the full board a no brainer here? Twenty pounds a person per day seems like a pretty good discount, especially when you're definitely going to use it with all of that good food!

I'm used to being charged US dollars, so when I look at prices in Euros and calculate the exchange rate I'm having a mini-meltdown. I can't figure out if the meal plan is worth the cost or saves a lot, but I think we can only afford counter service for most meals, and maybe one or two table service the entire week we are in DLP.

Yeah that would be tough if you're on a budget. If you just google pounds to dollars then that's really helpful and intuitive. I'm sure they have apps too if you want to figure it out at the parks!

The problem with the meal plans is u save money of you would have a 3 course meal every night. And most menus it's a set menu. We're going for shareholder that way we'll save 15% on every meal whether we have 1course or 3 and once we're done we'll just sell out shares,

Also the meal plans even say on the website you save upto 10%.

We got premium last time and we wouldn't do again. Also if u get premium u feel like you can't eat at some of the cheaper places as you end up losing money x

but it's very expensive. And if you want to eat somewhere else, you loose money. Like if you want to meet Remy...
I was thinking of getting a meal plan, but then I checked cafes and restaurants we wanted to visit and some of them were from premium, some from plus and standard. So what's the point if I use them face value? Money gives me the same option. And if it's fully booked and I want to go somewhere else?

Maybe, if you're set only to eat in those restaurants maybe then it pays off.

The Premium meal plan voucher covers the dinner buffet at Inventions, but doesn't cover the Sunday brunch.

That example wouldn't work as like Elaine said above ^ ^ you can't use a meal voucher for Inventions Sunday Brunch, you can only use it at face value (I believe it's €51 for the premium plan) and pay the difference. This is going to be at least €17 as you'll have to pay for a drink if using the voucher for face value.

Also, would you really want two sit down meals a day considering breakfast is included with your holiday? I wouldn't be able to do it and I've got a healthy appetite ..... ;)

We had half-board plus vouchers for the first time last week. When we used them in Cape Cod and Parkside Diner it worked out fine as the buffets both cost €28.99 and the voucher covers this and a soft drink - it was especially good in Cape Cod as we were given larger drinks than it covers. If you stick entirely to the restaurants applicable to your voucher ie plus restaurants with plus vouchers and if it's not a buffet only choose from the set menu then you're good but beware that the set menus are very limited. I didn't originally choose to get the vouchers, it just ended up that way, but I wouldn't get them again out of choice - they're far too restrictive for us.

I agree with you. You have to follow the plan, no changes can be done and I'm not sure if I'll be in the mood to eat there or my kids will want that. ON my last trip my "meal plan" changed entirely and we ended up having meal elsewhere. So I'd rather stay with a free choice of where and when to eat.

Counter service isn't much cheaper then some of the buffets, just bear that in mind:thumbsup2

Well, I guess I will have to look very carefully at all the menus before we leave and plan my budget accordingly. Who knows, my diet may go better than planned, as I will be eating less because of cost!!:rotfl::rotfl2:

My first visit to DLRP I had a little trouble with meals - I didn't have very satisfying meals and felt like I spent a lot on food - but after following some advice of those on the boards here second time around was much better.

First trip I tried to choose the cheaper counter service meals and it really wasn't helpful. Second time around I took some posted advice - I had a good breakfast at the hotel which was included and ate a late lunch at one of the more economical buffets at the parks and found out I spent the same on meals and ate much better quality meals.

I would recommend the buffets that are around 20-25euros for fairly good food and a decent price. Happy Planning fellow Texan!:)

Also save yourself the pain - just think in euros - if you think in dollars it can create a meltdown - I relate.

I did not even think about that.. Lol yeah 2 meals is wayyyy too much with Breakfast. Oops.
