Food Options Within Walking Distance?

Hello All!

First Time posting here, and I have a question. We will be taking our first trip to Universal in December and staying at the Royal Pacific. We will not have a car and since we do not know the "lay of the land", I am wondering: Are there any off site restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel? Specifically, fast food joints, since we'd like to save some money on meals, and all the on-site places seem to have the typical high theme park prices.

I don't think the restaurants in Universal Parks or City Walk are all that expensive. Much less expensive than Disney restaurants.
There is a Burger King right at City Walk if you want fast food.

Citywalk has a BK, Moe's Southwest Grill and Panda Express. I've heard that Pastamore' is a good deal for a sit down restaurant as well.

There are several fast food places on Kirkman Road but that would be quite a walk from the RPR. McDonald's, IHOP, KFC and a few others are up the street from Universal on Kirkman Road but again...that's quite a walk. There tons of places on I Drive but that's a hike too. As the other posters have indicated, there are several restaurants at CityWalk you might want to consider.

on Citywalk they have Starbucks and Cinnabon, in the parks as well.

To save a bit more, you can print some coupons off Orlandocoupons.com, also upon check in they hand you a few coupons for Citywalk

I was wondering if UO was like WDW, where you are isolated from the outside world, or like the Disneyland resort, where you have other shopping and dining options nearby. I guess UO is pretty isolated, right?

Universal is not as isolated as WDW because you have all of the Citywalk options within walking distance of the hotel. I'm sure you can find a list of Citywalk restaurants somewhere within the Disboard. As others have said above, there are several fast food places at Citywalk.

Not at all but nothing in the outside world is really close either. I Drive is across the bridge over I-4 and Kirkman Road is behind the parking garage. Check out Google maps to see where everything is located.

There are reasonable places to eat without leaving property. Two can dine for under $20 at Sal's Deli at Portofino with delicious pizza, Volcano Nachos at Margaritaville, just to name a few.

Like others,i find prices to be quite reasonable, no more expensive than other places outside on I'drive etc.
If i was going to go to S.Kirkman/Major Blvd, i would get the boat to PBH or HRH and then walk,you can exit at the back of PBH and makes it pretty close, have a look like PP said on Google Earth

Very surprised when I went to orlandocoupon.com and looked at coupons and menus. Prices at some of the City Walk Resturants we reasonable and then you got 20% off. I will be printing coupons for out short stay in Jan.

UO is less isolated than WDW, but more so than DL. At DL you walk 5 minutes or less to the end of the property and cross the street to several choices up & down the street. At UO, unless you are going to the parks, the resorts, or CW, you have to travel a little bit to get to things outside. It is nothing compared to WDW, however, where you can't walk much of anywhere due to how the roads are and the longer distances. However, if you look at the menus, you may find many of the prices comparable to many off site restaurants. If you are only planning on fast food, the prices will probably be slightly higher at UO, but for me it wouldn't be enough more to walk off site for fast food. JMO. Hope you have a great time!

and that particular starbucks is i believe the ONLY one with NO wifi GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

You could always go to the drop off spot at the entrance to Universal and grab a cab and go to kirkman and there is a golden coral tgi fridays and the ride will only cost you about $5 or $6 dollars but as most mentioned its not that expensive to eat at citywalk cause we are always on a tight budget but still can afford to eat at citywalk our entire visit

If you take the boat to PBH, you can walk to Burger King, Orlando (Millers) Ale House (kids eat free on Tuesday night), and I think China Buffet (Walgreens too). Google Map it.

Along the same line, is there a stop for the Iride Trolley near the hotels, and has anyone reading ever used it?

Yes, I will do a Google Map search of the area, but I like to hear from "voices of experience".
