This was a poll on Food Network, and it instantly reminded me of all our Food Porn sites on the Disboards...and of my husband using his humungeous camera to get an artistic pose from a piece of bread. :goodvibes

So which would you vote for?

I did this for the first time a couple weeks ago! We were in Hawaii and I had to show everyone at home the scrumptious shrimp from Giovanni's Shrimp Truck and the wonderful Dole Whip at the Dole Plantation. No embarrassment here.

I get a little embarrassed, but last time we took pics at the Wave the next table asked where we were posting so that they could show their friends!

I'm so thankful for the people that take pics. They have helped me make a lot of my choices!

I'm planning on taking pictures at a signature dinner in Vegas next week. so it's not just Disney.

I have loved seeing all the food pics on here. It actually helped me make some ADR decisions!!!

I used to love taking picturs off my food on vacations when I was little until my sisters shamed me into stopping. Since then I have found this wonderful website and you can bet this next one I will be taking pictures. I even have a friendly contest between my DH. We are bringing two cameras and each taking pictures of our own food to see who can do better. Also the dinning reviews and food porn provided by eveyone has helped a ton in me making my up coming ADR's. It made it so my husband agreed to go to Jiko! So I say go for it!

I am always nervous to take pictures of my food, but I do anyway because those are some of the best memories!

(Also, I think it was on Bravo during Top Chef Masters last night)

we have but really just for desserts if they are really great presentation and not just at disney, but I've never posted them before. I don't do it for the hassle of reposting and I take so many pics of other things, that I don't, but I do like looking at the food threads and it has made me & my DH make up our minds on getting an entree or not, so i'm all for other people doing it!!

I stand corrected!! :goodvibes We are usually watching all the shows on
Food Network! Love the new show Chef vs City....kind of like an Amazing Race for chefs!

Me and DH did that too during last years F & W Fest...he cheated tho, he has a more awesome camera!! But after messing around on Photoshop I came out on top on a few of them. :rotfl:

I enjoy "Food Porn" but I don't contribute to it at all! I'm not at the point where I can just sit there and take pictures of my food! To be honest, I've never seen anyone at Disney take pictures of their plates, what is it, do you all have a mini cams hidden in your hat or jewelry?

Just as a word of caution to people, if the restaurant is dimly lit taking pictures can be hazardous to other diners health. My DH has a seizure disorder, and lights flashing in dim lights can cause him to have one. One snap is no big deal, but someone taking several pictures with flash in dim light could cause him to seize. NOTHING makes me more mad than people taking flash pictures on the dark rides. Remember, to some people it is not just annoying (and against the rules), but could be hazardous. :thumbsup2

Feel a little weird sometimes taking food pictures (especially when I was in Italy, got a lot of looks there ) but when you're looking back reminiscing about the vacation it's SO WORTH IT!

The way I feel about it is, I'm buying the food therefore I own it and can take pictures if I want.

I also LOVE seeing the all the great pics people post of food on the DIS. It's helps so much in deciding where I might like to dine and what I might like to order. I've seen pics of food that I would never thought of ordering if only reading the description but the pic made it look so good that I wanted to try it. And vice-versa too. I think it's great!

I try to be descrete when I take it, but I am definitely one who likes to take pictures of food, and not just at Disney. I found that I used to describe our dinners to people, and sometimes they would say "I wish you had a picture of that!". Once I found that people on the DIS were avid photo foodies, I joined in!

I'm all for it. As many people pointed out, it can help in making ADRs. Plus, the chefs often put in considerable effort to make the food presentable, so why not take a picture of their work? And besides, if it's such a bad thing then why do many restaurant websites show pictures of their food?

I do agree with the poster from Greenwood whose husband has seizures, though. In low-lit areas it is courteous to not use your flash, even if the picture doesn't come out that great.

I just spent $500 on a new lens that is great for food close-ups. I think that tells you my answer. :lmao:

I rented it for a trip last year and took pictures like this on an older camera, can't wait to use it on the new higher end camera:
