Both channels have a message that they were pulled by Scrippt Network (owners???) because they couldn't reach an agreement. Cable said something to the effect that Scrippt is having "financial difficulties" and refuses to negotiate "fairly"... They never indicated any problems so this is totally out of the blue....

I hope they work this out SOON as they are my fav channels....

Our provider did that with SciFi and my DH was really upset. So we called, and they said it would be ten bucks a month to add it. I hope they get it worked out for you!

We lost ABC last year for the same reason with DISH.
They finally reached an agreement.....6 months later!! I missed a lot of my favorite shows.
I hope your cable gets an agreement a lot faster!!

That's a shame.

Our cable/internet bill just went up $4+. We pay $114 per month for internet and basic cable. They've dropped some channels in the past few months. :confused3 So, we're switching to AT&T. We are combining our phone service with cable and internet service. It will cost a few more dollars than we currently pay for all 3 services, but we'll be getting a lot more channels and services.:thumbsup2

Oh - that really stinks. I wouldn't know what to do without my househunters.

Hope it gets settled soon.

I know! We discovered the same message this morning. No warning or anything. There is a spot on the FoodNetwork and HGTV websites to send a message to Cablevision, which I did. I love both those channels so hope they come back.

So far with AT&T, I have only found they are always adding and subtracting channels all the time.

I DO NOT miss the DISH network & their rants.

Hopefully it works out OP.

Same thing here. I was shocked--I guess the fact that Fox could get pulled by Comcast was bigger news than Cablevision/Script having a price fight. I hope they work it out--i was planning to get thru the Olympics by watching Food Network & other cable channels instead.

Maybe your cable network is telling you to not eat as much, and to give up and let a professional do it ;)

I sure would miss the Food Network if we suddenly lost it.

I found out yesterday that they were not carrying them anymore, I couldn;t believe it.
They have 1 week to get a deal worked out and if they aren't able to, I'm calling and switching to FiOS. Need my HGTV and Food Network!

I am so upset about this. I'm tempted to go to FIOS but I've not heard great things about that either. I want my HGTV back!

There is a possibility that we will be losing the FOX network from our cable provider unless they can come to an agreement. FOX wants Brighthouse to pay them more to carry their programming. Brighthouse doesn't want to pay more because they would then have to raise the price of their service to their cable customers. I am pretty irritated with FOX. They are already getting paid by their commercial sponsors and now they want more money for the retransmission of the cable company. It we lose FOX, I won't be happy, but I am on the side of Brighthouse on this one.

Fox & Timewarner Cable are battling, too. At least they've been advertising it for weeks to let people know... With AI starting soon, I'd be sad to loose Fox. (Though I could live w/out the rest of their shows...)

I just read that fox and timewarner Cable came to a temporary agreement. The article also mentions the OPs issues

Fox grants 'brief extension' in cable dispute
Jan. 1, 2010, 10:17 AM EST

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Fox and Time Warner Cable extended their contract for a few hours, avoiding a threatened blackout of several stations from the cable provider while the two sides tried early Friday to resolve a disagreement over fees.

Time Warner Cable Inc. made the announcement as the clock rolled past midnight Thursday on the East Coast. Scott Grogin, Fox senior vice president for communications, said at 9:30 a.m. EST Friday the companies were "still negotiating."

The extension for a few hours made it appear likely that at the very least a further extension would be granted, allowing millions of cable subscribers access to Friday's Sugar Bowl between the Florida Gators and the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Cotton Bowl on Saturday, the NFL's final regular season contests on Sunday and "The Simpsons" and other Fox shows were also at risk.

Karen Amaya, a 30-year-old schoolteacher and Time Warner Cable subscriber in Van Nuys, Calif., said she was concerned about not being able to see "The Simpsons" on Sunday night, which her husband watches "religiously."

She said it was "kind of frustrating" not knowing what would happen, especially as both sides had heavily advertised the possible disruption.

Fox had threatened to pull the signal from 14 TV stations it owns, a move that would have affected more than 6 million customers of Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks in New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Fla., and other markets.

If the signal were dropped on cable, people could tune into Fox with an antenna if they have a digital TV or converter box. But most Americans these days get broadcast channels through subscription services such as cable TV or satellite.

Six Fox cable channels, including FX, Speed and Fuel, and certain regional sports networks were still being distributed throughout the Time Warner Cable and Bright House service territories. Carriage arrangements on those channels weren't to expire until Thursday at midnight PST (3 a.m. EST).

The dispute focuses on how much Fox is paid by cable companies to retransmit its stations' signals. Time Warner Cable and a smaller cable TV operator, Bright House Networks, have resisted paying a new $1 monthly fee per subscriber that News Corp. is demanding from both operators.

Time Warner Cable CEO Glenn Britt has called the fee demand excessive and said the cable operator has reached deals for "much lower" rates with Fox affiliates — stations that carry Fox programming but are owned by other companies.

Fox has said it needs subscription revenue to supplement the advertising revenues that have supported its broadcast network up until now.

Separately, Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which owns broadcast stations in markets as large as Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, agreed to an eight-day extension for cable TV operator Mediacom Communications Corp. to carry Sinclair's Fox and CBS stations. Mediacom will pay Sinclair a higher rate than it was paying under a contract that also was expiring at midnight Thursday.

In another fee dispute, Cablevision Systems Corp. said early Friday that it had failed to reach a deal to continue carrying HGTV and Food Network for its 3.1 million subscribers in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, adding it had no expectation of carrying the signals again.

The channels are owned by Cincinnati-based Scripps Networks Interactive Inc.

Time Warner Cable continued to carry Food Network and Great American Country under a temporary deal extension as its talks with Scripps also continued late into the night.

I'm sorry that you lost a few favorite channels! I watch HGTV a lot and DH likes the Food Network.

We haven't lost anything with Dish yet. Maybe the other squabble with ABC was regional?

I hope that Fox and Time Warner work things out.

I have DirecTv and we lost Versus last fall.

As television technology and the web begin to merge I am hoping for the day we can buy a-la-carte channels and have them streamed to our televisions. That way you can only buy the channels you want without having to buy packages that have 30 channels you like and 130 you will never watch. At that point we don't really need cable providers. We can buy Versus right from Versus, Fox right from Fox, History Channel, ESPN, (fill in channel you like here) directly from the channel owners themselves.

I think it is still a bit off because the cable owners will fight it but it is in our, the customers, best interest to at least have that as an option. I'm sure there will be many people who still get the channels from their provider, but there will also be many (like me) that cut the cord to them and just get the channels I want.

Getting back to Versus. If they don't end up back on DirecTv I already know of "alternative" ways of getting the events so in the end they are forcing me to turn to piracy. I am not going to miss the events I want to watch just because my provider doesn't want to give me the channel. I will go get it myself. If all of a sudden Food Network was taken off my TV I would be downloading the torrent of Good Eats the night it comes on. They would only have themselves to blame as I would be willing to watch it over their airwaves if they let me.
