I posted on the Dining board --but then thought maybe I should check here. Previously trips to WDW were not an issue bec I knew that children's menus included ckn nuggets/hotdogs/macncheese/pnb. Now, ds is 11 and not eligible for children's menu. He has SPD --one of his dx ---and food is a major issue for him (not to mention just the fact of going to WDW sends us into overload bet/ the SPD/ADHD). How do you handle table meals w/ "picky eater"?

I'm also just realizing now with little one (he's 6) we've discovered more food allergies so I guess I need to take that into account. I can't see him trying much new though --except last week he had an allergic reaction when dh decided to hand him a coated cashew at a sporting event to try ---still can't believe ds actually took a nut and that dh never thought a second about offering it! He's not allergic to pnb (thank goodness) just the other nuts.

At counter service, you can order off the children's menu for your older son. Check the menus on the AllEars website to find table service that would have options your child might like.

Check out the FAQs above on this forum to find out lots of info about food allergies.

At most restaurants if you explain that due to a disability you child has a limited diet and items on the children’s menu are what are appropriate for him they will be happy (it is very easy for them compared to many dietary requests) just to supply larger portions for him. The may or may not charge an “adult price”.

Hi and :welcome: to disABILITIES!

There is no prohbition against anyone ordering from the Children's Menus. My wife used to order the Child's 4oz Filet Dinner at the Concourse Steak House.

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information.

Check out Post #3 and scroll down to the Dietary Restrictions area. There is a lot of information as well as link to reports. This should help you a lot.

Or, if you want an easier route to the FAQs, click on the link in my signature.

Just ask the host/hostess at the restaurants for a kids menu for your DS11. When we went last May, my DD11 was even asked at several restaurants if she'd prefer the kids menu. Disney doesn't stop anyone from ordering off the kids menu, no matter the age.

For your child with allergies, please mention them when you make your ADRs. Also, email special diets (address is listed on sticky FAQ thread above). They will email you a form you fill out and they forward the allergy info to each restaurant you have an ADR at. They'll also send you some info on safe foods at CS.

My Dd 11 still orders off the Kids menu
Adult is way too much food for her.
The only place we have EVER had issues at a table service was in France and I called over a Mgr. and had no issues after that.

Of course at buffetts we pay adult price but her brother & dad make up for her lack of eating :lmao:

We went to the Wave a few weeks ago-I am afraid to tell anyone as it was easy to get into and the chef was awesome!! The service was about the BEST we have had at WDW:) DD got the kids pick menu with a hamburger, potato wedges and a salad. She had fruit for dessert. No one said a word about her ordering from a kids menu.

Check menus in advance as quite a few table services DO NOT have Chicken nuggets and mac & Cheese! Many places you can contact them in advance and they can have them for you. My friend has a DS who will only eat certain foods and we had contacted Mama Melroses in advance and they were able to get him fries Chicken nuggets. But I have been told it depends on the chef. (we contacted special diet team)

What exactly is it about chicken nuggets that kids latch onto as their preferred food, anyways? :confused3 They're so over-processed and high in sodium and bad fats, for the most part. My kids' pediatrician called them non-foods, as they had 0 nutritional value, right up there with hotdogs and bologna. That was 15 years ago though, so hopefully they aren't so crappy now?
