Many people don't realize (and Disney makes no effort to let you know) that you can order items in the combo meals individually. The menu board may only list the combo - sandwich, fries, drink - but you can just order the sandwich for a reduced price. We've saved a lot of money that way.

We always asked if we could get the kid's meal without fries and have always been turned down! I guess I should be more persistent. I travel with my mom and 4 y/o. By the time we get two regular meals and one kids meals there is enough french fries to feed 10 people! On my October trip I will be sure and try this out again. Thanks for the info.

The problem with getting too many fries may be that you're asking for the meal, without the fries. You have to order, say, just the sandwich for one person, just a medium drink for the other, and a kid's meal for the kid. Every time you try to order a meal without something, they'll tell you no. You have to order individual items, and not mention the word "meal" Silly but it works

We do this all the time, and it always works well. I happen to have lots of food allergies first of all, which means that I never drink soda. Ever. However, if I get a kid's meal, I can usually eat parts of it, and one of my kids gets the soda.

The other good meal that works is in MK. Over near the Haunted Mansion are several carts. One turkey leg, plus one packet of veggie sticks, plus 2 pieces of fruit feeds both the spouse and I. . . for a lot less than a meal at one of the buffeterias.

I think it is the combo where you can not get the fries but the kids meal comes with fries.
