Have you seen the pb and j roundwiches??????? They would be perfect for a snack or for the kids at lunch.

I have not tried these yet but saw them about a year or so ago. The "official"policy for Disney is that food is not allowed to be brought in the parks. However you will see ALOT of folks do and I have never been turned away.

I have not heard of a single incident of Disney enforcing the no-food policy. In fact, since they have had the security checks, the guards constantly joke around with guests about what they are bringing in. On a recent trip, I had a backpack loaded with all kinds of stuff. The guard checked it and said, "I'm coming with you guys."

The PB+J's are great, though my daughter thinks they have too much PB. They are particularly good because they come frozen. By the time you are ready for lunch, they are thawed.

I stocked up on a sale on these about a month ago and my son loves PB&J and this is all he eats, so they are perfect for him. We pack them for day trips to the zoo/park etc. They are a bit small, but pretty tasty and convenient. They do sell these at the parks as well.

where do you find these? who are they made by?

They are called Uncrustables, made by Smuckers. They sell them at Stop and Shop, Pathmark, and I'm sure other stores. They come four in a box and are around $2.00-2.50 here, but I use coupons so I get them inexpensively.

They sell these is most of the resorts food courts and snack bars. They also sell them in many of the food places in the parks. So instead of carrying them around you could just buy them there. We did bring one in the park one day as we knew were eating at a place my 4 y/o didn't care for. She ate her sandwhich while we ate dinner. I highly doubt they would ever say anything about them anyway as you could have just as easily as bought it in the park.

I think they are like 3.49 for ONE though in the park. Much better deal to bring them in instead of purchasing them there.

Sure they are more expensive. What isn't in WDW? LOL! I find them worth the convenience of buying them when needed the carrying them all day in a backpack. We did it that one time and it was kind of smooshed and soggy. Not very appealling. For $3.49 it is a relative bargain for a kid like mine that makes an entire meal out of it.

I'm a couponer, so I just couldn't bring myself to pay for something I could probably get close to being free at the store LOL.

I used to attempt couponing but just couldn't keep up. I pay for the convenience. Price doesn't matter to me.

On wdw magic kingdom main page under faq it asks can we bring food and drinks into the park? The answer yes as long as it is not glass and no alcohol is allowed.

Really? They must have changed that. It was originally under the "Can I bring food into the waterparks?" Personally I don't see the big deal in bringing snacks and a sandhwich for the kid if he/she won't eat anything else. I say plenty of wheeled coolers two weeks ago so it seems that some are bringing in much more then that.
Edited to say that I just looked at the MK web page and it still does indeed say it is for waterparks. It made no reference of bringing food into the other parks.

In my stores we now have pb&j bread sticks. My kids didn't like the uncrustables, but they love the bread sticks, and you get 6 for around $3. I think new york bread makes them.

Rather an odd comment to find here on the Budget Board.

I must agree with summerrluvv that it doesn't make sense to pay Disney $3.50 for something that only costs about $.50 outside of the park. Personally, we haven't done the Uncrustables but we have bought kept a loaf of bread and jars of PB and J in our room and packed sandwiches.

Gosh I didn't know there were certain rules to follow in terms of posting on the budget board but thanks to airmchair moderator Steve I will keep that in mind. Anyhow, I posted to share my recent experience of coolers being seen in the parks. There were many roller type ones that were there last week so obviously they do not enforce the food in the parks. I don't know why my comment was odd. Just because I'd rather pay $3.50 for a sandwhich that is cool and fresh as opposed to saving a couple of dollars and carrying one around the parks all day doesn't mean I don't like a bargain when I see it. I just thought that this isn't worth the hassle of saving a couple of dollars. :p

well, we were at WDW in March, and the Uncrustables came in a lunch package with one of them, a bag of chips, a bottle of water or a soda and a coupon for ice cream. My kids and neice and nephew adored them, and they were about $3.50 each. I remember thinking this was quite the Disney deal.

skiwee1 - I apologize if my response offended you, or anyone. Certainly not my intent. Budget means different things to each of us. For example, I prefer to stay at the cheapest hotel I can find so I can afford 2 trips each year to WDW. On the other hand, a friend of ours recently said that she considers it slumming to stay at a Holiday Inn. But to each his own. Same goes for food, souvenirs, etc. We each choose to spend our allotted budget in different ways.

And as mamarobin24 pointed out in the last post, the PB+J is actually a much better deal than I realized if it comes with a drink, chips and ice cream all for $3.50. So I certainly stand corrected.:jester:

No problem Steve! I take back the arm chair moderator comment too! I wasn't trying to force people to buy the sandwiches at the parks but just wanted them to know that they are better freshly purchased and not toted around in a backpack. I know from experience that they smash more then the ones you make. I too bought pb&j and a loaf of bread one trip at the WL. I made my DD a sandwich and took it to the park so she could eat when we did. She is a very picky eater and if we didn't do that then we would not be able to eat anywhere good! The next trip I discovered those uncrustables and was ecstatic! I didn't know about them the other trip. Saved me time buying those instead of making them and hoping to keep it fresh. My time is more valuable then a couple of bucks so that is why I do it. BTW, the ones sold in the resorts do not come with any drink or chips or anything else. You get one sandwich for I believe $1.79. Still a deal when you think how much one child's meal can cost as those always come with a ton of fries that usually go uneaten. Those meals cost almost $6 so the sandwich can be a good deal looking at it from that perspective especially if that is all the kid will eat anyway. :D

That is why we usually share meals. My wife and I will each get just a sandwich. My daughter will get the kids meal with fries. All 3 of us will share the one order of fries. Saves money and cuts down on our junk food consumption.

Many people don't realize (and Disney makes no effort to let you know) that you can order items in the combo meals individually. The menu board may only list the combo - sandwich, fries, drink - but you can just order the sandwich for a reduced price. We've saved a lot of money that way.
