Food from Kansas?

My son's class is doing "state projects". He was assigned the state of Kansas. Today he told me that he needs to bring in a food tommorrow that has something to do with Kansas. Apparently the class will eat it on Monday:confused3 so it can't be something too perishable. My son asked if he could bring in corn bread but I'm not certain that will keep 'till Monday...he asked about sunflower seeds--which seems easy enough...but I was wondering if anyone from Kansas/familiar with Kansas has other suggestions? Sunflower seeds will certainly keep, but I have visions of kids spitting seeds or other issues that could arise.;)

TIA

I remember this project from when my DD was in 4th grade. The honeybee is one of the 3 edible state symbols for Kansas. Maybe you could just send in a squeeze bottle of honey and a box of wheat crackers (wheat being a crop grown in Kansas).

Ooooh! I like that! Thanks! :):thumbsup2

Or get those bagels from Panera that have roasted sesame seeds on top... drool...

Being from Kansas I first think of sunflower seeds, being the sunflower state and all. For some reason when you say corn I think of Nebraska. Of course wheat crops are huge in kansas so I would assume anything made with wheat. Oh and of course our bbq rocks.

Yeah, BBQ was the first thing I thought of, but I wasn't sure what type of "non perishable" item he could bring in for that!

I find it so odd that they want the stuff brought in on Friday, but it won't be eaten 'till Monday? Really limits what he can take in! :confused3
