Food from 1/31 - 2/4

Just a few notes from our trip last week.

Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare ~ very good, everyone in the family was happy with it. The characters were great, lots of fun. The food was just what we expected (very good) and the server was very attentive.

Dinner at the Castle - we arrived early for our 5:15 res (5:00) apparently Cinderella hadn't come out to the main lobby yet so we missed the photo op (didn't know it was available until we saw picture packages being delivered to the surrounding tables). Food was pretty good. Very expensive for what we got. Service was excellent.

Dinner at Chef Mickey ~ wonderful as usual. I found that I don't like going there during daylight hours ~ the restuarant is nicer looking at night.

Dinner at OHANA ~ WONDERFUL. Family's new favorite.

Dinner at Whispering Canyon ~ probably last visit there. Service was excellent. I thought the food was exactly as it's always been but my family was disappointed. FIL & MIL said the ribs were not at all like they used to be. They now want to do OHANA instead. Kids loved it though.

Dinner at 1900 Park Fare ~ same as always, very good food, good service.

Dinner at Yacht Club Galley (on our last night all of the EPCOT eateries indoors were booked so we decided to go to Beaches in Cream, on our way there ~ we got a little lost ~ we passed YCG and decided to eat there instead. EXCELLENT. Although the hotel is very stuffy IMHO, the food was very very good, we would definately eat there again.

Kona Cafe for breakfast was VERY GOOD.

Captain Cooks for breakfast and snacks was VERY GOOD.

We will be making our first WDW trip in the fall (we are DL veterans), and I have 1900 Park Fare, 'Ohana and Chef Mickey's on my 'most likely', and the castle on a 'maybe' list (I'm waitching to see if people like the new format here).

thanks for the reviews...I am confused on the castle dinner...you paid the package price and didn't receive a photo? I thought that was included in your meal price?

We were actually there on the last day of the original format. Not sure if they were testing the picture thing or what. I couldn't tell and when I asked the photo guy he said just stop by downstairs and we could take a picture, but the line was very long and we wanted to go to the rides.

Some may disagree, but I consider Chef Mickey's a must. It's the meal we traditionally start out trip with to put us in the Disney mood. That and the parmesan mashed potatoes are to die for. 1900 Park Fare is great if you have a little princess. My daughter, and actually the rest of the family, are too picky for the Norway meal, so Park Fare is our Cinderella Dinner. I wonder though since the Castle is now a Cinderella Dinner if Park Fare will change.

Forgot to add one thing. I'm extremely disappointed to the changed made at the Land food area. Too much gourmet and Asian fare and not enough plain food. It was very difficult to find food that everyone would eat there and we didn't have a lot of choices as the weather was so bad we didn't want to take the baby out and search for food. I didn't realize that the menu had changed so drastically. There used to be pastas at least and that's ALL gone.

We loved it there too. The atmosphere was electric. The characters were so funny and it was a magical experience. I can't wait to go back. You'll have a blast!!

Not sure how much budget is an issue, but if you can at all consider it, I would take your DD to My Disney Girl's perfectly princess tea at the Gf. If this WDW trip is a one time thing it's an amazing experience. My daughter LOVED it. Check out the info on it at allearsnet.com. We did the tea last year and she still talks about it. She even carried her doll "Ariel" with us this year.
