Food Drunk- 10 Days of Deliciousness.

subbed! great food revs ;)

Just read through 4 pages--thanks for the great reviews!:thumbsup2 Looking forward to more.:goodvibes We were just there last week and I feel the same way about Ohana; those noodles are addicting.:cloud9:

Glad you're enjoying them!

The Dumplings and sticky wings and noodles look so good! Great review so far.

They're really good! I could have easily filled up on that stuff.

subbed! great food revs ;)

Thanks!

Thanks for the reviews and pictures. I'm starving now!!popcorn::

Hahaha, me too. I wish I could run over to Teppan Edo for some food.

Sorry for the delay... My computer is possessed by Satan or something and it crashed while I was mid-review! Sooo, let's get back on this bad boy!

So, for those that recall... I had to cancel my Kona breakfast on Saturday because I was so sick, but we thankfully were able to reschedule it for Monday. We made it to the Poly about 20 minutes early and were seated right away. Our server, Erin, was really nice. For my drink, I had some Lilikoi juice:

Disney290.jpg

This is delicious, even though my throat was like completely wrecked from coughing so... a wee bit acidic. Still delicious. I also had some Diet Coke because well.. I have a problem. Erin didn't charge me for it. Thanks, doll!

Andrew had a Mega Berry smoothie-

Disney289.jpg

This comes with a big ole pile of whipped cream on top of it, negating any health benefit it may have provided you with, but he drank the whole thing.

To eat, I had the Big Kahuna-

Disney288.jpg

Pancakes with Macadamia nut butter and pineapple sauce, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, sausage, bacon, ham and french toast. Oh man, I'm having a heart attack just revisiting this picture. I could have done without the french toast and the meats, in retrospect, but this was a great choice for indecisive people like me. Nothing was bad... but the pancakes are the real star.

Andrew had the much lauded Tonga Toast, with bacon-

15ydys.jpg

This is like a big old banana donut coated in sugar. I had a bite and that was... enough. It didn't taste BAD by any means, but a bit too much sugar for me for breakfast. He thought it was awesome though, so it's really just one of those things you have to try.

So, we officially endorse both restaurants at the Poly and would stay there if we weren't poor college students!

The Magic Kingdom was rainy and busier than I felt like dealing with. By around 2:30 or so, I needed to sit down, so we went back to Columbia Harbor House, mostly because it was close by. I went with another Dis recommendation and got the Anchors Aweigh sandwich-

Disney297.jpg

Oh my god, the BREEEEEEEEEAD. It's so toasty and flavorful. I liked that the sandwich had lettuce and tomato on it... The creamy tuna, the tasty bread and the crunch from the vegetables was delicious.

Andrew had the fried shrimp basket-

14mx35.jpg

He said the cocktail sauce was the nastiest thing ever... I tried it with a shrimp and it... tasted like cocktail sauce. Hahahaha.

For dessert, I ordered a chocolate cake, but I regrettably ended up tossing it because I just wasn't hungry for it:

Disney299.jpg

SHAAAAME. These things are full of preservatives and stuff but they're yummy. Andrew got another one of the apple tart things. We didn't take a new picture of it.

Sadly, I didn't feel much better after the regroup so we decided to go back to the hotel for a little while before going to Teppan Edo for dinner. I was SO upset but it ended up being a good call because we made it into the room and I basically keeled over

Anyway, when we got to Teppan Edo, we waited a few minutes to be sat with a group. The employees in Japan are SO polite... They bow every time they leave the room! I loved that.
I could barely talk thanks to a worsening cough, but... even if I could have, I don't think the couples we were sitting with would have been too talkative  We were the only ones on the dining plan and the other 3 groups were giving us dirty looks. Ummm, what? I didn't ask you to pay my check. Whatever, it didn't detract from our meal.

I had Diet Coke to drink and Andrew had a cocktail. It was called a Mt. Fujirita... Not 100% sure of the ingredients but he loved it-

Disney313.jpg

He switched to orange soda after the first one. The little sweetheart we had as a server was awesome with refills.

Before the chef came out, the server made us beginner chopsticks, which I was PSYCHED about. Seriously, we'd still be there if they'd left me with regular chopsticks.

Here are some pictures of our chef cooking:

Disney315.jpg

Disney317.jpg

Disney318.jpg

For my entree, I had filet mignon cooked medium rare. It was absolutely AMAZING... melt in your mouth tender and juicy, especially with the sauce that the hibachi chef called 'yummy' sauce. It's best compared to ranch, but not quite as strong. Here's the steak along with some udon noodles and veggies:

Disney320.jpg

Andrew had the chicken and sirloin combo, which escaped being photographed :scared1::scared1: but he enjoyed it. This was really 'his' pick because he loves hibachi restaurants but we don't live anywhere near one, so I was glad he was happy.

Oh, and here's the rice, which is bottomless-

Disney321.jpg

We were the only ones on that blasted Dining Plan :woohoo: so we got dessert. I had the chocolate ginger cake-

Disney322.jpg

I was pretty stuffed at this point so didn't finish it, but it was really yummy. The ginger flavor was subtle and the cake was super moist.

Andrew, to my shock, got the green tea pudding-

Disney323.jpg

I think this looks... pretty bad :rolleyes1 so I didn't try it but he said it was actually delicious and ate the whole thing. Whoaaaaaaa. Go Andrew!

Our meal ended literally minutes before the fireworks started, so we camped out at the Japan pavilion and enjoyed the view. It was so perfect. Illuminations is absolutely incredible.

Next up-- Eating and drinking around the World :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Awww, thank you! I had been planning the trip for over a year and a stupid cold wasn't going to hold me back!

Sounds like a great food day-- I've always wanted to have breakfast at Kona! Why would the others at the table care if you were on the DDP or not? Strange!

I definitely recommend breakfast at Kona... It was so tasty.
And yeah, it was SO strange... I felt so awkward.

Another great update :goodvibes

Yeah, it was really unfortunate. Glad you're enjoying the report.

Great pictures and reviews. Thanks for sharing.:thumbsup2

Thanks for following along!

This day started off LOUSY... I woke up and felt like I'd spent the night in a blender or something... It was just the worst. So, instead of getting to Epcot at open, we spent some time in the room, MUCH TO MY CHAGRIN. I don't go to WDW to hang out in a hotel room, so I was all upset and bummed.

The good news is that my health took a turn for the better around 12:30, so we headed off to the World Showcase! I was *so* looking forward to this and it ended up being one of our favorite parts of the trip!

I didn't have a table service reservation for today, which was definitely a good thing since we had lots of quick service to use up and plenty of places to choose from.

Before I get rolling, here are our breakfast pictures, from the Pop Century food court-

My chocolate croissant-

Disney326.jpg

This is blasphemy and everything, but I preferred this one to the one from France :scared1:

Andrew's cheese danish-

Disney327.jpg

To me, it looks a little... preservative-y... But Andrew loves stuff like that, so he happily endorsed the cheese danish.

By the time we walked to the Showcase, I was starving. I really wanted to get fish and chips from the UK but the seagulls were sooo aggressive. I was scared to death, so we kept walking to Morocco and camped out INSIDE the Tangierine Cafe. We had the chicken and lamb Shwarma combo:

Disney338.jpg

It came with a baklava for dessert-

Disney339.jpg

Holy CRAP this was a lot of food! It's easily large enough for sharing. Starting from the big roll in the middle-- Roll was okay, wish I'd asked for a pita, but I forgot. Chicken with onions and sauce (Is this the Shwarma part?)-- delicious and flavorful, hummus-- I love it, Andrew isn't too keen on it... So I ate most of this, couscous salad-- Andrew is a couscous fan so I let him eat most of this but it was tasty from the bite I had, tabouleh salad-- Yuck! This tasted like parsley that had been soaked in vinegar. It was not good. Finally... LAMB with onions and sauce. :worship: The chicken was good and all, but if I get this again, I'd get it with just the lamb. It was SO delicious... The flavor is robust and the meat is tender. We scarfed it down almost immediately.

As for the baklava... It was far from traditional baklava but we both thought it was tasty... Almost more like a toffee cookie than a pastry. Weird, but it's worth tasting!

To allow ourselves to digest, we spent some time in the massive store in the Japan pavilion. That place is a blast... It just keeps going forever! We ended up buying a ton of Japanese candy and then decided to hit up the sake bar!

I tried the sweet sake and Andrew had the flavored sake... His had these wonderful orange notes to it... It was great. When I first tried mine, I was like WHAT'S THE DEAL? THIS TASTES LIKE MY COUGH MEDICINE but the aftertaste was actually really pleasant and it was completely smooth. I ended up finishing it. Would I want this with every meal? Definitely not. But it was worth a try!

After leaving the shop, we got a rainbow Kaki Gori-

Disney347.jpg

This is basically a snow cone on steroids. The texture of the ice is so awesome and unlike a snow cone, the whole thing tasted delicious until the very end.

During the consumption of the Kaki Gori, we went inside Yakitori House so as not to be eaten alive by seagulls. It wasn't busy so I didn't feel bad sitting at a table without any food. We did consider getting some curry rice, but I still had my heart set on fish and chips once we made it back around to England, so we passed.

In the America pavilion, we had every attention of just passing through, because... well... we're pretty much surrounded by hamburgers where we live. And we even have decent pulled pork sandwiches. BUT! I saw a kiosk with the Disboards famed jalapeno cheese pretzels! Um, I have snack credits burning a hole in my pocket... YES PLEASE!

Disney350.jpg

While I do enjoy the plastic yellow cheese that you can dip pretzels into, this was easy to carry and delicious... Not too spicy but it had a nice kick. AND it was starting to get dark out so the seagulls didn't try and steal it from me.

Next was Germany... We weren't hungry but Andrew decided to get a beer. This is an Oktoberfest in a souvenir mug:

Disney351.jpg

It took him a while to drink it, but he finished it! We perused the shops in Germany, briefly stopping at the caramel shop and STUPIDLY not buying anything (I have this problem where I can't even look at food if I'm too full... Boooo). We also considered a wine flight just so I could try Ice Wine but time was a wastin and we had decided to catch the last British Invasion show of the night.

Oh, and for those keeping score... We didn't buy anything in Italy but we decided that it counted because we'd had dinner at Via Napoli... RIGHT?!

Next was China! Andrew wanted orange chicken from Lotus Blossom cafe but we needed to make a pit stop at Joy of Tea before we did that. I had heard so much about the Peach Snap, and I LOVE peach so I knew I had to get one!

This is a picture that someone else took as I was too busy getting a brain freeze from mine to whip out the camera. The only difference is that mine had a flat lid:

6pn31v.jpg

In China, Andrew finally got to have his orange chicken with white rice:

Disney353.jpg

For dessert, he chose caramel ginger ice cream:

Disney354.jpg

The chicken was surprisingly good... The sauce was a little sweet, but when you mixed it with the rice, it was delicious. Andrew LOVED it. The ice cream was okay, but not worth precious stomach space, in my opinion. If I hadn't already eaten a ton of stuff, I probably would have finished it.

Norway time! We rode on Maelstrom and tried to get Andrew another Souvenir mug but they were SOLD out. I secretly think it was for the best... He would have taken 10 hours to drink another huge beer. We peeked into Kringla but that stupid 'I'm full, food is gross' thing set in and I couldn't buy anything. FOR SHAAAAAAAME. So! We bought a pressed penny just to say that we bought something in Norway! IT COUNTS.

j0bgwz.jpg

We got this one, only... ours actually looks like a penny.

In Mexico, Andrew got himself a margarita from one of the stands. He prefers his margs on the rocks, but he said this was pretty good for a frozen one.
And, in our most regretful move of the trip... WE FORGOT TO GO TO LA CAVA DEL TEQUILA. Whaaaaaaaat were we thinking? The peach snap must have been stronger than I thought because I was REALLY looking forward to getting a blood orange margarita. I FAIL.

We made the loop around in record time, and bypassed Canada (WE HAD DINNER THERE SO IT COUNTS!) for snacks, but got a chance to hear Off Kilter for a few minutes. We had a little extra time to kill before British Invasion, so we went past the UK to get me a second Grey Goose slushie-- :worship:

Finally, it was fish and chips time! They come with a little Shortbread cookie for dessert, which was fine with me... Shortbread is delicious and easy to eat!

Disney357.jpg

I got plenty of vinegar and salt for my fries and then happily munched away while watching the show! These were delicious... everything I'd hoped for and the best part was NO SEAGULLS! I would definitely recommend this meal to any fish and chips fan.

To end a magical night, we took a bus back with the BEST driver I've ever had. He didn't play the pre-recorded Disney message and instead joked around with us the entire way back. We and two other people gave him a tip at the end of the drive... He was truly magical!

Well, this concludes Amanda and Andrew Sort of Eat and Drink Around the Whole World! Hopefully you enjoyed this segment of my report-- I certainly did :cutie:
