Food Drunk- 10 Days of Deliciousness.

Just returned from my first 'big kid' trip at WDW! We went from January 3rd-13th and used the regular DDP. Not gonna lie... Nothing you'll see in this report is *too* unique because we went to a lot of the favorites on this board. I'll try and make up for it with my witty commentary. I'm also going to include my pictures from the dark side AKA Universal Studios, because it was one of the best meals of the trip.

The Cast-

Me- My name is Amanda and I'm 22 years old. This was my fifth trip to Disney World, but every time I go... I'm basically in a different demographic and the trips are always different. As far as food tastes go... I dislike mushrooms and olives. Almost everything else is fair game. When it comes to booze... Call me Chelsea Handler... I like me some vodka. But not too often.
BF- He's Andrew, and he's a relatively new 21, so it was exciting for him to be able to order a German beer or a Patron Silver Margarita (his favorite!) His idea of a gourmet meal before he met me was a Little Caesars Hot N' Ready so my jaw about hit the floor when he considered ordering swordfish at Teppan Edo (he didn't get it, by the way)

So, minor back-story... The boyfriend and I came across the cake gallery and decided to 'secretly' get each other a cake for our trip... I wasn't particularly excited by the way Disney does it... You have to get an absolutely massive cake to get any sort of personalization! So, I found a bakery in Kissimmee called Buttercup Cakes and got into contact with the owner, who worked with me to create the perfect cake for Andrew! Around October, I casually asked which bakery onsite he was getting my cake from and he was like 'I'm actually going off site...' and it came out that we were both using Buttercup Cakes

Still, the surprise was that we had no idea what the other was getting, so I was completely floored when I saw the cake he had designed for me:

You have to understand something.... I'm a huge movie buff and I still think that WALL-E and EVE are one of the most amazing love stories in cinematic history, so this was the best possible cake ever for me. I can't believe the work they did, including the little plant in the shoe and the blocks of garbage.

I died of happiness when I saw it.

This cake was red velvet with cream cheese filling... I think fondant tastes pretty foul but this was delicious. With all those built in desserts from the DDP, A LOT of the cake went to waste but it was worth it because of how gorgeous it was, plus the WALL-E and EVE toppers made it home with us!

This is the cake I got for Andrew-

It's EXACTLY what I asked for... whimsical and brightly colored with a gigantic Mike Wazowski topper... And I did the best I could, since Andrew isn't as passionate about Disney as I am. So, it's still awesome but lacks the personal touch of the one he made for me. This cake is coconut with key lime filling and vanilla frosting.

We didn't have a table service meal that day but by the time we got to the Pop Century, we were starving (and waiting patiently for our cakes) so we bought our mugs and shared an order of chili cheese fries.

These were the type of food that you eat and you can feel your heart murmuring 'please stop, please stop', but they were SOOO good in all their processed cheese glory.

We hit up Hollywood Studios that night but the waits were insane (I guess that's what happens when New Year's falls on a Saturday... people are still there on Sunday!)... I'm talking 2.5 hours for Toy Story! While planning our course of attack, Andrew got a turkey leg... This is the only picture I have of it-

Yum. Another one of those foods that is just obscene in its execution but it's so, so tasty.
The crowds really were awful and I'm not exactly a patient person so we went to see the Osbourne Lights on their final day! I'm so glad we got to do that! While on that side of the park, we went to The Writer's Stop and got a delicious carrot cake cookie-

I know, we had two huge cakes in our room but that thing just looked tremendous. And it tasted tremendous too... Definitely get one of these... it's a snack on the Dining Plan and The Writer's Stop is such a nice contrast from the crazy crowds.

After, we went to 50s Primetime Cafe for some drinks at the Tune Up (or is it Tune In?)... I had the Mowie Wowie (Malibu, Midori, peach schnapps, orange juice and pineapple juice, but I subbed the pineapple juice for cranberry juice. I love pineapples, but I feel like every drink has pineapple juice in it and I get sooo sick of it. The resulting drink was tart and pretty:

And yup, that's a glow cube. I didn't really need it but it made the drink lovely.

Andrew had a margarita:

At this point, I was dragging... I'd slept about 4 hours the night before and wanted to go back to Pop... So we went to the food court before turning in for the night. I had shrimp lo mein:

This was pretty good.. The noodles didn't have a LOT of flavor but the shrimp tasted great and there were a lot of them.

Andrew had chicken penne alfredo:

He loved it... I tried a bite and thought the sauce was good especially for such a busy counter service location.

We had fruit cups for dessert and I forgot to take pictures.

That concludes day 1... Next entry has Crystal Palace and Via Napoli!​

They did deliver... It would have been $20 per cake but the owner is super sweet and she just gave us a flat rate of $20 for delivery.

I LOVE that your BF and my fiance have the same gourmet taste in Little Caesars.... we had a long distance relationship for two years, and he lived off of that pizza...

LOVE the cakes! Such a cute idea!! I wish I could find a bakery up here that would do a Disney cake for my wedding... they all won't touch Disney with a 10 foot pole because of copyright..

BUT I might need to order a cake for when we are there for our Honeymoon!
