So we always use Wegoshop to get items delivered to the room. We stay for 2 weeks so our list is a bit long. But I just went to place my order and the fees have increased. In addition because we are getting there late she will leave the items with bell services so we are looking at $70 in delivery fees. So my question is, am I better off taking a cab to Walmart and buying the stuff myself? What is the closest grocery store? We are looking to buy beer, wine, water, gatoraide, and a couple of small things.

I put this in the budget board because we are looking to save some cash here.

I know if you are staying on 192 there are a bunch of places there. Why dont you do what i just did use google earth and put in the addy of the hotel. then you can scroll around and see whats near it. I will be driving my SUV because we are in fl but found there is a Walgreens right near my hotel so if needed we could walk to it. not sure how this would work to carry heavy drinks maybe bring a foldable suitcase cart with you? then you can use it for the luggage and a walk to a store if needed. Just tossing ideas out for you.

70 dollars in delivery fees alone?:scared1:
Use GardenGrocer. I just placed an order with them, it's 12 or 13 for delivery and then whatever you choose to tip. If your order is over 200, then delivery is free.

Okay...so everyone has some good ideas. I cannot imagine doing a 1 day car rental but maybe that will work. We get in a 8:20pm, which is where our problem is coming from. $70 is just in delivery fees, so yes, very expensive. I am sure a car rental or even a cab would be cheaper.

Are part of the fees because you get in so late? If so, why not just have the groceries delivered the next day?

I thought there was a service i think it was a limo ? that will stop at Publix on the way to your hotel so you can get the things you need? i know I read it on here but not sure how much it is etc?

My friend and her family always use a car service with 1 stop, I believe that it is for 30 or 45 mins. without additional charge. They stop at a strip plaza on the way to the resort. It has Publix, some kinda sub shop that they get dinner for that night and eat it out at the pool, a liquor store, and Walgreens in the parking lot. She makes up a list for each of them on what they need, when they get there everyone know what to get and goes for it, then back in the car. When they visit they stay 10 to 14 days. Mid vacation they go to one of the outlet malls normally the one right across from downtown, there is a Publix at the far end across the parking lot that they go to grab anything that they are running low on. I think that they rent a car for the shopping which is a van for the day, I asked her she said that it is normally around 50.00 for the day. It could be less if you book on line for a compact car.

Another vote for Garden Grocer. Flat fee, always prompt, and very professional. We love their service and have never had a problem. And it gives us more time to spend in the parks! ;)

We take public tranportation from the TTC (MK) to Walgreens and Publix. They are side by side on #192 about a 15 minute trip on the Lynx bus #56, near Celebration. Here is a link to the schedule

LYNX Central Florida Regional Transportation Authoritywww.golynx.com/

Standard 1 way fare is $2.00

Are part of the fees because you get in so late? If so, why not just have the groceries delivered the next day?

Yes, an extra 10% of the cost of the delivery on top of the delivery charge. The only opening they have for the next day was for 11am and we plan to be in MK at that point. Just don't want to have to wait around for them at that point.

I used to fax my order to the Albertsons on Orange Blossom Trail and pick it up on my way from the airport.

We were not planning on renting a car but I am starting to rethink it. I was just able to get a compact for 2 full weeks for $250 inclusive of all taxes and fees.
