How does the Food Court at Port Orleans French Quarter compare to Pop Century and/or All-Star Music? Is the food quality and/or selection any better? (I'm trying to talk myself into paying $53 more per night for the Moderate versus the Value)
I thought the food court at POFQ wasn't very good, and they were really slow. Not busy, just slow. There wasn't that much to pick from and I didn't care for any of the food. However, the food court at PO Riverside was really good (make your own pasta). If comparing POFQ food court with POP food court, POP is much better. The food is better and there are more choices. Like another poster said, check out the menus at allearsnet.com.

As you can see in my signature, we've stayed at POFQ MANY TIMES...
I have to agree, the food court is slow. It seems small these days with the number of guests staying there, in other words, the busy times are very busy and you'll wait to get food & to pay (longer than at Pop Century).
The food is okay, but you don't have as many options as with Pop.
That said, we really enjoyed the food court at Pop; again, if you go during a busy time, it's gonna be crowded. More choices for eating & in our opinion, more adult (sun dried tomato calzone, mom's tv dinners, greek salad, flat breads, veggie burger...)
I looked at the food court menus at www.allearsnet.com and there seems to be a lot more selection at the Values Resorts. POR also seems to be better than POFQ.
For those of you who have stayed at both POR and POFQ, which one would you recommend overall?
The food court at Pop is loud and crowded. The food court at POFQ is a much more relaxed experience. It gets crowded too but nothing like the madhouse at any of the Value Resorts.
I've stayed at both. POR is better. POFQ is so small and slow! POR has alot more to offer and the whole main area is more appealing in my opinion. POP and POR are my two favorite food courts in all of Disney, including deluxes.

POP and POR are my favorites too! Along with Captain Cooks
I like POFQ the resort, but not the food court. The decor turns me off and it is slow. I used to really like the food court at ASMo but its changed and moved out of my list of favorites.
Well since I checked my finances, and I can definitely afford to stay at a Moderate, so I think I will stay at Port Orleans Riverside instead of French Quarter.

I agree!
We checked out numerous food courts on our last trip (Jan.01 to Jan.19.2008)
-- Captain Cooks (Polynesian) = great salad and very good veggie stir fry noodles
-- Wilderness Lodge (don't remember exact name) = very small, salad poor, soup unremarkable
-- Mara (Animal Kingdom Lodge) = salad great, soup pretty good (didn't really care for the squash soup altho we've heard great things about it, liked the potato soup enough to go back a second night)
While I probably will never stay in a Value level resort again I really liked the ASMovies food court much more than the POFQ. I grew VERY tired of the selection at POFQ very quickly. I tend to eat fairly healthy and the selection at POFQ was pretty limited. I am looking forward to WL Roaring Forks because there appears to be a few more healthy options.
