We are a family of 5, dd11, dd9, ds7, dh and I. Just wondering about resonable budget for food each day. We will be there 9 days with no character meals or anything. We normally eat fairly cheap as a few of us are not big eaters, a kids meal is plenty for me or appetizer sometimes. I had planned about $100 per day, we often eat a big breakfast and early supper. We normally only eat 2 meals per day on vacation. Is this a workable budget or do we need more? We will have a car so we can leave and eat after the parks close sometimes.

Thanks!

Hi there! I think you culd do it on $100 a day for just counter service if you are not big eaters. Where will you be staying? I would suggest packing your car/packing a suitcase or stopping for room provisions to supplement your meals. Bottles of water, snacks, granola bars, whatever you can, because they really getcha on the snacks and drinks. You can eat breakfast in the value and moderate resort food courts for cheap, or go offsite and you can also have pizza delivered to your room for dinner if you would like. I just load up on all the snacks and then budget $125 a day for us, but we are only 4 and we like to eat, eat, eat on vacation. This has always been plenty since we eat in the room (no big breakfast eaters) have a big lunch and then a light dinner.

We are staying at POR. I have heard people say that Fort Wilderness has a reasonable priced buffet so we might try it. We often eat late at home so we may wait until some parks close and have supper. We plan to bring or buy snacks, water, soda, etc. for the room.

hum- if you do breakfast in your room, bring snacks and drinks- it could be possible. dinner is always the big ticket of the day. Mine are still young and will split a hotdog fries, etc for lunch and our dinner are uually sit down and never under $50 for the 4 of us. I always bring cereals, muffins for the rooms, drinks, etc. the kids have their juice/water, goldfish snacks, etc for during the day. a few days we do character meals and that adds up for the daily expenses also.

I think you will do fine on $100 a day for food by sticking to counter service & POR food court. Most kids meal are only $3.99 and include a drink. For an adult, you should expect to pay around $10 each at a counter service including drink.

If you are planning on doing sit down meals at Disney, I think you would need to up your budget. An adult at a sit down is probably at least $20.

Don't forget to budget the extra stuff like water, sodas, ice cream etc during the day at the park. That eats up a huge part of your money. I usually spend more a day on water ($2.50 each) than on food. My kids are big water drinkers & I hate to carry it around all day.

Here is my budget for 2 for a seven day trip
One meal each day will be paid for by Vouchers.
I figure 40.00 a day for one other meal and water, soda and snacks.
I have a seperate budget for alcholic bevrages.
We will buy the refill mug at the resort aprox 25.00 for 2.
And we are more than likely to eat most counter service meals.
We may eat once at Rainforest Cafe and Maybe Planet Hollywood but I will purchase GC for those meals.
Also one night we are planning on doing the Spirt of Aloha at the Poly so we won't use are entire food budget. I always have food money left over. But we don't eat alot of sit downs and for the two breakfest buffets we will do I purchase Vouchers for those.
