Food Budget

I went to the parks yesterday with my 3 year old. We ate breakfast at home and then stayed until 10pm. This is what we ate and the cost. We share snacks so just one of each snack, and I had packed a lot of snacks so my child didn’t eat a full dinner, just a side of tater tots from Pym’s Test Kitchen. We did not purchase any drinks (his kids meal from Docking Bay 7 included a kids size drink). I rounded up and these prices don’t include tax:

Pumpkin-Spiced Mickey Beignets (3-pack): $6
Ronto-less Wrap: $14
Fried Chicken Tip Yip Youngling Meal: $10
Bulgogi Burrito: $14
Potato Bites: $4.50
Churro: $5.75

Total: $54.25

We budget $100 per person per day when we go. This includes coffee in the morning (we tend to skip breakfast), lunch, dinner, and snacks. We are often $10-$30 under budget when we only do quick service. If we do table service we sometimes go slightly over the $200 budget, but things balance out by the end of the trip.

Thanks for all the additional input. I will make an adjustment to my budget to at least $60/person and then when the girls take a look at the menu, adjust it again.

You can look at all the menus online to get a better feel for current prices. I'd say with QS you are looking at $20/pp per meal if you add in a drink.

Yup, this. And, I also factor in "snack breaks" as well, since you never know when a Dole Whip will call out to you out of nowhere. :rotfl: For snack breaks, I usually figure $15 per person, per stop. I usually factor in 2 stops her person, per day. But that's just me. I figure if I don't use the funds on food, I'll use it on other stuff that I just couldn't live without.

Yes, definitely look at the menus. Please Please Please budget for snacks or bring snacks!

I went with a dance team (as a teen) years ago and it was really stressful when a parent gave their kids barely enough money to cover meals.
It was really stressful for them when they couldn’t just buy a snack when they were hungry because they had to budget their meals. This was before menu prices were in an app so we ended up traversing the park a few time to find something in their budget. One of teachers/councilors just decided to get snacks for everyone to put an end to the misery.

That trip was over a decade ago and I still remember that anxiety and stress surrounding choosing a place to have lunch.
