Hi, can anyone reccommend somewhere for dinner and breakfast at Manchester airport? We're staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel in sept, but not sure whether to eat there or in the airport.

Ta :goodvibes

I think wherever there is a choice the airport would always come last on my list, grossly overpriced.

Would have to agree with Mr-D on this one. Hotel all the way for me. Manc Airport food is (in my opinion) edible but not great and over-priced to the max.

Airport food is ok - just basic, and perhaps overpriced. We stayed at the crowne plaza and had an evening meal there, which I am convinced made us ill for the flights!!! So, personally, I wouldn't eat there at all.

The Radisson SAS does a very nice breakfast. Depending on your flightimes, you could check-in and then go for your breakfast.

Gotta agree with you there. The company I work for provides the majority of all catered food options at Manchester.

The pricing is so high partly due to the captive market but mainly to do with the huge rent charges the airport operators take. A figure of 25-30% of TURNOVER is the norm!. Once the catering operator has allowed for this, pricing becomes approx a 30% premium from 'high street locations'.

If the airport operator didnt get revenue through this, they would get it elsewhere through flight charges etc so best to avoid unless of course you have a nice discount card like me ;-)

Thanks for that everyone, maybe we'll stop for dinner on our way over! Breakfast could be fairly quick and basic as our flight is 9.45am and they feed us on the plane.

Aceman88888 your countdown is showing the same as mine - we fly sept 13th with first choice when do you go?

If Acemann is going at the same time as you then meet up and use his discount card :cool1:

we are having breakfast at the sas, after we check in (we are staying there the night too

Sorry, Im flying from Gatwick on 18th September with TCD. Flights from Manchester were more expensive and even though I only live an hour from there, the Gatwick flight is midday on a Sunday and therefore ideal with small kids. We just do an overnighter with the Outlaws near to Gatwick.

Ive got a few places at gatwick to use my discount card anyway, so all's not lost!

Aceman - I wasn't asking that to use your discount card, I was just curious!! HaHa, hope I didn't panic you!!!

Have a great time anyway, and fingers crossed the hurricanes stay away for the weeks we're stateside!

Thanks all for the info.

We always stay at the Crowne Plaza when staying at Manchester and have never found a problem with the food there. I would highly recommend the Asian restaurant - Sampans. It does a variety of food - chinese, japanese, thai, mongolian etc - and we have always found it to be of very good quality.

Just think, this is the start of your holiday so you might as well have a good time.
