Food at Disney

The rest rooms are not nearly as clean as they used to be. Years ago they were spotless all the time. Now, they get pretty gnarly at times.

As far as food, what do you want for counter service? It's fast food.

But there are several award winning 4-5 star/diamond restaurants at WDW. California Grill, Jiko, V&A's. There are another dozen or so restaurants, ranging from the moderately priced Kona Cafe to the expensive but so worth every penny Citrico's that are top notch.

It depends on what you are looking for. When I eat counter service, I expect it to be OK. Sustanence. By no means a great meal.

We have always found WDW to be very clean considering the number of users per day.

what you are kidding right? I thought the whole entire time that we were at Disney we were in heaven!!!!!!! The whole absolute area of disney world resorts were spotless. The food was awesome also as we ate like KINGS!!!!!!!
It was kind of disheartening as we got back to Buffalo and drove home seeing the dirtiness, run down houses and dilipation everywhere.

Next time you come to WDW, let me know. I can show you areas resembling Buffalo within a miles of the maingate.

We just came back (Oct. 7-11), and as always, I found the bathrooms to be extremely clean. In fact, there is almost always a cleaning person in the bathroom while we're in there. That is something I've noticed.

As for food, we base our vacation around where we're eating, so I guess you could say we love it! I think it depends on where you eat. If we only ate counter service, I would not be that impressed. I think the table service restaurants are top notch! We paid around $40 for burgers and fries at Pecos Bills (kids have to order burgers off the adult menu because there are none on the kids menu -- sneaky!). DH and I were talking over dinner and said WHY DIDN'T WE GO TO A TS RESTAURANT AND USE OUR DDE CARD?! The burgers were great as always, but for a little bit more, we could have had a really nice meal. Ya live and learn.

I would NEVER sit down on a curb in NYC to watch ANYTHING. I'd SLEEP on the sidewalk at Disney.

as a NYC born and raised i couldnt agree with this statement more.

but as to the original post. i have never really had a bad meal anywhere on WDW property. i have 2 picky eaters in my family,DW & DS#2, so that can make mealtime stressful for me but we have never had a problem with food in WDW. everything hasnt been great and never regretted eating in any resturant.

we usually travel at peak peak times and even in these times i have never been in a bathroom anywhere on WDW property that isnt clean.

honestly i am always amazed at how clean they can keep an area like MK during times like july 4th. maybe things arent as clean as they used to be but maybe its because people are more sloppy then they used to be

The last two times I was at Disney I never noticed a cleanliness problem at all....everything was neat and tidy, even the restrooms.

I did however notice a little bit of wear and tear here and there. Nothing major, just some spots that needed a paint touch up or something like that.
I also noticed a few left over Christmas decorations that were still out in MAY! I thought that was odd? For anyone who has been there recently.....
is the Mickey and Pluto statues with the Christmas tree and the Merry Christmas banner still out in DTD to the right of the enterance that's by the Art of Disney and the scrapbook store?

As for food. I can't complain about Disney food, their counter service is no more expensive than any other amusement park and the food, while not upscale, is definitely better than other amusement concession stand food.
Plus you get the great condiment bar. I've never seen one of those at any other amusement park. Really, I thought their burgers and sandwhiches were actually good and way better than I was expecting.

Regarding cleaniness in Disney's bathrooms. I think if the guests were a little more considerate and dispose of their trash, etc. properly.

If you dropped toilet paper/papertowel on the floor in your bathroom, wouldn't you pick it up??

I'm glad it was just an isolated few that had problems. I loved it all last visit, thought everywhere was spotless, fast food ok, restuarants great. Got a little worried about some of the negative stuff. Disney is for dreams and that feeling of wonder. Only 5 weeks and I get to feel that child like wonder again!!

I can assure you the food quality and cleanliness of the resorts, parks, and restaurants is top shelf.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is on another planet.

or lean on the garbage can as i do when i'm watching the parade...
have you ever seen them cleaning them?....they clean the outside of them all the time with disinfectant spray...

For the number of people that go through the parks and eat at Disney I feel it is very clean. It is the visitors that make this mess. If they were a little bit cleaner by putting trash in the trash cans then Disney wouldn't have to spend so much money to have people cleaning up.

we went MK, AK, MGM and epcot, and DTD. by far the best food was at rainforest cafe in DTD.

the worst food was at the mexican restaraunt in EPCOT. the food was horrible. Juan Carlos could not get an order right. he messed up my order along with the two parties in front of me. How hard is it to mess up 2 combo plates, 2 child plates and 4 drinks. There was a hair in my margarita. totally disgusting. i didnt notice it until we had already started eating. they did give me another drink, but needless to say i lost my appetite after that. there also was a distinct odor (like a sewer) when we sat at one of the tables in the courtyard.

the food court close to buzz lightyear (cant remember the name) where they have 3 different bays to order. Very few selections, and the food was less than average.

the food at MGM was ok.

the food at POR was average at best.

the bathrooms, at all parks, in general were dirty. not unlike you would find at any gas station across the US. i never saw any that were filthy, but i expected they would be kept cleaner than they were. generally dirty is the best way to describe them. with two 6 six year olds, we took a lot of bathroom breaks.

overall i very disappointed with the whole disney experience. DW, twin DS (almost six yrs old) and myself witnessed very rude people (guests) at each park. i never saw so many people pushing us to get into bugs life, or little mermaid, or who wants to be a millionaire, like the show was going to start without them.

we were expecting Disney to be a much friendlier place. (when you have to wait 45 min for a bus from MK to POR, and waited almost 40 minutes for the bus from POR to EPCOT) the least they could do is smile.
i didnt see too many smiling faces from the workers at disney. very disappointing. we tried to make the best of it, but we won't be going back anytime soon. for the money we spent, we expected a lot more. better food, better service, and a better overall experience.
