Food at Chef Mickey's vs. H&V

How does the food/menu at H&V compare to Chef Mickey's? We ate at the latter last trip and the food was really not that good. I thought H&V would be fun on Halloween since we are not attending the party that night (our party night is earlier in the trip) and H&V is supposed to be Halloween-themed this time of year. However, it is not a must-do, since we our also doing Garden Grill, which has most of the same characters and delicious food. Have you eaten at both? What did you think?

I've eaten at both but different meals. I had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and I agree it was just OK but they had mickey waffles and characters so I was happy! But Hollywood and Vine we did Fantasmic Dinner and this was before characters and it was great! We're skipping CM this time around but we're hoping to get H&V for Fantasmic again and this time with characters I think it will be awesome!

Trying to compare the food at Chef Mickey to H&V is like trying to compare my favorite team the Cleveland Browns to the San Francisco 49er's; they are both pretty lousy. IF neither one is a must do for you and you don't need to do a buffet I'd pass on both of them. If it's atmosphere, then I give a big nod to H&V. I will admit though, I am not a fan of buffet restaurants at all.

We had lunch at H&V about a month and a half ago. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. Lots of variety. We've also had dinner at CM's a few times. No complaints! We do enjoy buffets.

These are definitely my least favorite buffets overall. However, I have to give the title of absolute worst to H&V. I even thought their breakfast was bad the last time we were there. I had eaten there for lunch years ago and did not enjoy it at all. Last spring I decided to try again for a PPO breakfast in order to sign up for Jedi academy, I mean, how hard is it not to mess up breakfast. I was definitely wrong, it just was not good.

It has been several years but H&V was bleh.

Tough call. For us it comes down to character experiences as the dining at both can be mediocre at best. I think it really depends on the day and the timing of when food is brought out and how long it sits. Go with whatever character meal or theme you think works best for your family.

We did CM brunch and H&V dinner two weeks ago. We enjoyed both (food was always fresh at both... Not gourmet but good). H&V was pretty good. They had a lot of interesting options for more adventurous eaters and basics for the less than adventurous. The desserts were so-so overall. We enjoyed our meal there. Some characters were better than others at H&V. Minnie and Daisy seemed rushed.

Have only done breakfast at CM and have always found it to be okay. Not great, but fine breakfast food. We have only done H&V for lunch, the last time being last month. Never again. We thought it was awful. My husband said the best thing was the corn dog nuggets on the kids buffet. I would imagine breakfast is similar to CM, but haven't had it. Will never do lunch there again.

i just went to CM on 10/2 for breakfast and the food wasnt that bad. wife and i like it better than H&V breakfast.

Thanks for the responses. I decided to cancel after reading that some people though it was as bad as or possibly worse than CM. We were scheduled for dinner, which was another big factor (I'm less picky about breakfast foods). Hopefully we can get back to the resort in time to do some of their Halloween activities instead, and then meet Mickey and the gang at Garden Grill on a different day.

We went to CM last year and this year we were at H&V. I never thought I would say this but I prefer CM and I was not impressed with CM at all. I will not be returning to either of these places in the near future.
