Unsure whether this should have been placed on the 'Camping' board but here goes

If you could book only one of this (and we can) which would you go for - is the quality of food similar at both, or does one stand out for you?

Have read a lot of negative reviews particularly on the BBQ but the fact that characters are present seems like a big plus. Is the HDD really so corny??

As far as the food, it comes from the same kitchen, so the quality should be the same. As for the show, I have only done HDDR(many times). It is "corny" but a very fun show. My understanding of the BBQ is that, yes there are charcters but the interaction can be sort of a free for all. The BBQ is outside so take that into account as well.

The food at the BBQ is hot dog, hamburger ect. Not great food, it's like a picnick. But the characters are great. I don't think you can find a better place to interact with then. The band and entertainment is great too. The kids loved it.

HDD has better food and no charaters, but is fun too. It's a true dinner show.

If your kids love chatacters do BBQ other wise I would say HDD. But really, you should do both at at some point.

Have fun

I have not been to the BBQ, but we did HDDR in April and it was wonderful. Between my sister's family and ours there were 12 of us total - 7 kids ages 13 to 1 1/2 - and every one of us enjoyed it. It really is a lot of fun and the food was very good. I think that there was salad, corn, chicken, ribs...other things that I don't remember - and strawberry shortcake for dessert. We would definitely do it again! :thumbsup2

Hoop de do is fun and enthralling if u have kids who will sit and watch, food is good,( I think the food is very good but I dont want u to think its gourmet or anything so Ill stick with good:rotfl: ) We have been to this more than three times and loved it each time. theyre very accomodating to their patrons IMHO. Its a true dinner show, whereas the Mickey BBq is more interactive

Mickeys BBQ IMHO is a "go only for the experience" event, we do really like it but the food is basic basic basic burgers corn, beans hotdogs basic picnic(think your husbands work family summer picnic style). The first time we tried it DD was 2 and almost got trampled by charac and kids doing line dances, hokey pokey etc.....you have to be really right there with your small child at all times ready to whisk them out from under dancing cluster mobs (which I was ok with but it keeps u away from your family and your food)

We did this again with two 4 yr old girls and an infant girl and we went thru the lukewarm buffet and sat at the picnic tables to eat, then I went with both 4 yr olds while my friend and her infant just sat FAR AWAY at our picnic table and people watched. Not too exciting for her, but our girls LOVED IT.
I like it alot but we know not to expect much from the food and we do alot of bobbin and weaving staying out of harms way:rotfl2: We dressed the girls exactly like minnie dressed in red checked cowgirl sets with boots and hats and got LOADS of extra attention,(hats and boots on an airplane is not pretty:laughing: )

go and he haw it up-our girls loved everybit of it.
