Food aplenty? Or one per person?

Generally, it's been said that you can have as much as you want in the MDRs for food, but it is structured for each course at a time, not for seconds.

However, my 6'3" 17 year old DS, whose as skinny as a rail, is hoping the cruise, with all their wonderful food will be the place he can finally add a few pounds. He's looking forward to seconds and multiples of courses. And he will eat them, not waste them. He loves food (just not the food I cook ☹ ). Will there be any problem if he orders multiples at each meal? Do they still do that?

No problems at all. Order away. The wait staff is awesome and will accommodate pretty much any requests at time of order or requests for seconds. Just be mindful of the time really. Early seating is under the gun to serve everyone and reset for the second seating. And second seating staff have night time responsibilities. Other than that though they will serve you as much as you can eat. We don’t eat much, but have strict dietary requirements (Vegan) and they often bring us multiple entrees just to make sure we get something we like. Outside of main dining service, Cabanas for breakfast and lunch is buffet, and the quick service for burgers and dogs is open most of the day for as much as you want. Have a great time!!

Agree that the dining staff is awesome. But to make their lives easier, have your son order whatever he wants all at one time when the orders are taken. An "end of course" request means the server has to switch gears, run to the kitchen and hope it is still available. This leaves the other server to handle the next course alone for all their tables.

There is also pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc by the pool deck. Also, bring $ for room service tips.

My DS loved to get pizza at night and order room service. (He still does not like what I cook either.)

My teen son ordered multiple items for each course and they were happy to feed him. No prob at all. Just don’t be shy when ordering and keep in mind the portions aren’t as big as most restaurants serve

One couple at our table on one cruise ordered multiple entrees and appetizers and then shared them so that they could try many different things. They did order all at the same time. My 17-year old nephew, who is 6'7" and an athlete is a non-stop eating machine so I'm sure they will not be in the least surprised by him ordering multiples and may take it as a challenge to try and fill him up.

Not a problem! I have been known to order ALL of the appetizers, but no salad or soup. I have also ordered 3 main courses. Enjoyed every bite, too!

DS 16 is a bottomless pit and the dining staff is happy to accommodate! We ask him to order multiples instead of seconds, though, to make life easier on our servers.

My son in law is a crazy meat/fish eater, he would order each protein selection on the menu, minus the sides.
It was strange, but they brought it out to him without issue.

That was our problem ("problem") this past fall. Our server saw we liked certain dishes and as the week proceeded he decided upon himself to bring out those earlier meals as a "return of past wonderful" dishes. We finally told him to stop!. And he wouldn't. Now since he didn't stop I know I should have told our Head Room Server but it wasn't that big of a deal.

What we experienced I got 4, 4 deserts one night! The last night everyone at our table of 8 got a previous night's dish. Our table was jammed with food. And we didn't ask for it, he just did it. I think he just wanted to show-off by grabbing dinners from different restaurants and showing that he had this great ability to reproduce these previous meals.

So yes you can get multiple courses and even get previous meals if you want. Just be careful what you ask for!

Although, that's only if it's being made. My DS had a wonderful tomato soup (his favorite) one night and asked for it the second night, but was told they actually weren't making it at any restaurant that night. So if your server was producing dishes from the night before, it may have been a bigger miracle than you knew.

I just got off my first Disney Cruise and if I debated between anything on the menu I got both brought to me no problems. I was a bit hesitant about it but I’m glad my server ensured I got to try everything I was interested in. He also gave excellent recommendations and was almost always spot on. I heard about it before going but until I actually experienced it I didn’t understand just how awesome the MDR experience can be.
