:)This may be a dumb question but what exactly is it? Everyone seems to love it, but I'm not sure what it is exactly.
Thanks :wizard:

It's fantastic. Get the little gift card on a wristband and swipe it at the different kiosks to enjoy appetizer portions of great food from different countries. There are also separate demonstrations and tastings you can participate in at an additional cost. Wonderful. Everyone should experience it at least once. :thumbsup2

You can get a gift card on a wristband?!?! That's awesome (not for regular park use, but for the F&WF I can imagine it would be perfect).

It's so great! The best part is that the countries in Epcot expand and there are tons more food and drink options to choose from. Going in October for our 4th fest!!!

Great food, great drinks, great entertainment. Well worth going!

I use my wristband gift card all year round. You can add money to it at any time (even at your local Disney store, although it may take a Mgr). I have even used it to buy merchandise in the resort & park shops. It's great! I've been using the one I bought in 2009 and think I may have to replace it this year. It's looking a bit worn.

One note - you cannot buy regular gift cards and transfer those to a wristband gift card. HOWEVER, you can have funds from a gift card put on your kTTW card and that can be used to buy a wristband gift card.

You all fergot to mention the arm to arm crowds EVERY Weekend from the beginning of the fest to the end.
Oh, and and throw in ALOT of drunk locals and some heat.
Other than that it is a pretty cool time...although in recent years

If you want to get deep into how it really is.
They used to really decorate, stage things, and used to really care about this event, now all they push are the stupid seminars that will cost you an arm and a leg
The merchandise used to be so much better, the signage, etc.
Now they just do plywood cutouts for the staging of everything.

If you asked us this 10 years ago we would tell you its the best festival Disney has going.

Aahhhhh, Food & Wine, or as we like to refer to it, "Nomming Our way Around the World"

Yes, it is great if you love food and wine. We usually take 2-3 days to do it and we do NOT eat a regular meal on the those days. We just start in Canada or Mexico and work our way around stopping and getting any dish that sounds interesting. We add the wine pairings too because they usually do a great job of it. Basically, if you want a way to try a ton of food/wine/beer you might not normally try, do the F&WF. It's a great way to experience new foods and flavours. If you are on the DDP, save your snack credits and use them at the F&W! It can save a ton of money! The past 2 years our mantra was "Save the snack credits!" and we used them all +$$ at F&W. :rotfl2: So worth it though!:cloud9::drinking1

One year during Food & Wine I was on the meal plan and the lobster rolls at the American Pavilon were part of the snack category - this was amazing; they were so good along with a Sam Adams to boot. The Food & Wine really is a lot of fun for adults. Highly recommend it plus October is a wonderful time to visit WDW.

However, if you avoid the F&W festival on weekends, especially late in the day, you probably won't encounter any drunks. Besides, as DH pointed out to me, people have to REALLY have money in order to get drunk, because they give you such small portions. We've never encountered any drunkeness, except on one Saturday evening our first year at the F&W.

What's the best dining plan to be on (or none at all) for visiting F&W?

QSDP for the 2 snacks? DxDP for 2 snacks plus TS credits? No plan at all?

The F&W is the one time when we don't do any dining plan. We live on snacks all week. The first year we went to the F&W, we were doing the regular dining plan, and we ended the week with so many meal credits left over and the snack credits were long gone.

Depends if you are only doing F&W or other parks too. I can pretty much guarantee you won't want to eat a TS meal the days you are at F&W  But, if you are on property for several days, use the DDP or DxDP to do TS meals elsewhere and use your F&W day TS credits to double up and do a 2credit TS meal or a show meal (i.e. HDDR, or Brown Derby). There are many ways to play it. Are you a foodie and enjoy a good sit down meal? Get DxDP to have those extra credits to get a better meal. Are you a light eater/grazer that won't eat a big meal? Then go for the QSDP. What DDP you get really depends on your tastes and habits. We just saved our snack credits for the more expensive dishes at F&W. Some of the offerings are $6-$8 vs. a $2 bottle of water, you do the math.:teacher:

Whatever you decide, it will all be yummy!!

We enjoyed this both years we attended, so much so we talked friends into joining us for the second year. My sisters in laws went last year and ad a blast.

This past year was our 1st one and WON'T be our last! We had an amazing time...We shared an entree at each place so as not to eat to much and fill up and still get to eat our way around the World and YES we drank a little too. We are Adults and were on property so why not...Shawnpirate:
