Where else can you get good food, music, and wine in one place?

This is why Epcot is our favorite park, year-round! Yes, we go on rides, but our favorite thing to do is buy a glass of wine and go listen to The British Invasion or Off Kilter, have a meal at The Rose and Crown, Mexico, or Chefs de France, sit and watch the fountain that's choreographed to music, visit the tin toy museum in Japan, etc. etc.

The Food and Wine Festival is just a bonus! :sunny:

I'm with you on this one!! We can't wait to get there! We went last year with our ds's(12+14) and they both loved it. My older ds wants to be a chef so this is heaven for him. We'd love to get him in on one of the cooking classes, but he also wants to do the Steam Train Tour with his grandfather. Not sure if we can afford both this trip. Has anyone done the cooking class at the Odyssey? Is it worth it?

For a vegetarian, there is not much to eat at Food and Wine, but I love it anyway (go figure). Of course, you can always buy a meal at one of the counter service or table service restaurants. However, when I went the other day, I made a point of checking with the Chefs to make sure there was food I could eat. Here's what I found....

From Greece: spanikoppita (phyllo pastry shell filled with spinach and parmesan cheese)

From Morocco: hummus with a pita
Last year they had vegetable couscous, I'm dissappointed they got rid of that

From Ireland: Potato and Leek soup with Cheddar Crisp

All were delicious, but it's too bad they don't have more vegetarian offerings. Oh well, I still love it!

I'm vegetarian too. I found out last year (AFTER the festival) that there is a festival brochure that lists all the ingredients in the booth samples. I will definitely be checking that out this year.

Yes, I, too, wish there were more vegetarian samples, plus some vegetarian options for the wine pairings and chefs' dinners. Oh yeah, and Party For The Senses. I want real food, not just desserts, when I eat around the World.

What fun!! I can't imagine a better place for inspiration for your son!

The crabcake was just plain no good. The crabcake that McDonalds used to sell was actually better than this one.

We were there on the first three days of the F&W Festival and we just loved it. We ate at so many of the different booths set up. Some of our favorites were Italy, Greece, Singapore, Australia and Scandanavia. We did the Samual Adams beer and Twinnings tea seminars, they were both fun to do. We had so much fun trying different foods from all the different countrys. The crowds were not bad in the early afternoons.

Tea seminar?? I will definitely have to see if that's on the schedule when DH and I go next weekend (or the weekend we're going in November)! I'm completely hung up on the coconut tea and orange tea from the Twinings shop in England--I've looked up those teas on the internet and they apparently aren't generally available in the USA. Last time I was at Epcot I bought $80 worth of teabags and I'm almost out!! (Of course, some of the tea was given as a gift :earsgirl: ).

PrincessKitty, The Tea siminar was really great. I also buy many teas from the tea caddy when we are there. I bought the Scottish Nog tea last December when we were there and I just loved it. I only bought one box and when I went back the next day they were sold out. I was hopeing they would carry it again this year but was told the are not making it this year. I did buy there new Christmas tea though.

Re: drunks. They were a problem especially Friday night, somewhat less so Saturday night, and I can't recall seeing or smelling one on Sunday or Monday night. I think most of them were were locals.

Re: Kansas and the Commodores. I saw both of them performing to half-full audiences at the USA Pavillion theatre. Sort of reminded me of the scene where Spinal Tap plays for the theme park audience.

I think I kinda resent that comment about most of the locals being the drunks....actually I have been twice and will be returning for a few more day trips and also a 4 night stay. Yes there are drunks but ALOT of them are also visitors who will hop a bus back to the resort whereas a local would not be as likely to head out of the park and jump into their cars.
I have always found the first concert of the night to be less full and that is why I usually go to that one.........have seen Kansas and Edgar Winter so far and enjoyed both of the concerts..........the F&W festival is my favorite time of the year and IMO you get a pretty good sample for the price........but I guess that is all relative. I guess it's all what you make it.

I liked the crab cake.

My favorite items were, the southwestern turkey cobb wrap at the tortilla stand, the chorizo and chicken quesadilla at the Mexico stand, the lamb and pumpkin stew at the South African stand, and the mousakka at the Greek stand.
