Food and Wine 2015 Changes being made- What is up?

I was there last weekend. The Sat nite crowd was younger and more openly drunk - there was a woman puking like crazy in the bathroom and the crowd was ruder. Came back Sunday nite and the crowd was mellower

My early 20s kids were there on a Saturday night. They saw a group of people wearing "drinking around the world shirts" and many guests were according to my daughter "falling down drunk". This was in the late afternoon.

If you hear from a 21 year old that drinking is a problem there has to be some validity to it.

BTY before I heard this from DD I was one that was upset about them taking out the big beers. I still wonder if getting smaller beers would actually increase drinking. I would think that just having small beers would encourage people to drink more than less.

They did not have any issues when they went on a Wednesday. I think DH and I will go next year regardless of who is performing but skip Saturday.

The reason I feel the "big beers" make you drink more than less - they were a better value.
So I always felt like I should just get the bigger one - even when I would have preferred the smaller one to just try a particular beer.

Also since the lines are so long - you have more time between the smaller beers

This is just a theory on my part...but I can't think of any other good reason to get rid of the larger beers and if you really want them you can still get them in Germany and a few of the permanent locations

Any band you can see at the local County Fair should get the ax....bands like Startship, Dennis DeYoung, Sugar Ray, Air Supply..they all need to go. I think Fuel is a great new addition....I not a huge Fuel fan but there are a lot of bands from the 90s/2000s like Fuel who would bring in big crowds. It might even get me to fly down for a few shows, which is what they want rather than the locals coming out to dance to the oldies.

This statement made me laugh. Do you really think any band who was still viable in the music industry would take the time to play at Disney? They are all, for lack of a better description, has beens. This is the type of circuit these bands play. Some used to be stars :cool2: and some, not so much or one hit wonders.

Disney just added chainsaws to their entertainment lineup, do you think they would pay for top bands?

Mickey Thomas said that Starship is going to only be playing in the spring instead of twice a year because Disney was "making some changes."

Maybe "making some changes" means Disney doesn't want one band playing twice a year?

David Cook is.playing at this year's festival, and while I wouldn't say he is A list in the music.industry, I would say he is still viable. I am quite looking.forward to that concert

I'm betting that bands like Starship are more expensive to bring in than a 90s/00s one-hit-wonder. If we see changes to the line up next year, I'm sure $$$$ is the motivation.

There's a difference between a former American Idol winner and a band that can play small arenas. I think that's the difference PP was speaking of. David Cook isn't exactly burning up the charts or making a huge splash on tour anywhere.

Hey, as long as they keep the Spin Doctors! :thumbsup2

Most of the bands I've never even heard of, and I'm 23. Not sure if that means my tastes in music (however broad they may be) stink, or if they could use a new band overhaul for the concerts. But one thing is for sure, I wouldn't be buying any kind of VIP package unless it came with some M&G bits afterwards for some semi-popular band or up. Like Fun!

I think I heard something about a lumberjack show.....;)

I completed the "Drink around the world challenge" three times and I thought the Lumberjack show was grrrreat!!!! Burp!

The information I received came directly from Starship. Starship has been at Epcot twice year for 15 years. They fill each concert three times night. So to say they are not bringing in money for Disney would be far from correct.

This is the current confirmed bands at Epcot for Flower And Garden 2015 in case anyone is interested.

March 27,28 29 Starship
April 3,4,5 The Orchestra
May 1,2,3 Taylor Dayne
May 15,16,17 Hermans Hermits Starring Peter Noone

There has been no scheduled bands for Food and Wine in 2015. But this may change.

Coming back to this thread I see my response sounds pretty harsh. I didn't intend it that way. I just meant that all the performers are not 'on top' anymore or they wouldn't be playing these type of venue's. Nothing wrong with that. I married a musician. They love to play their music. Doesn't matter if it's for a small group or a world tour. They're doing what they love.

I did some more research and Disney may be getting away from the bands during food and wine entirely. However; I really don't believe this as the bands bring in quite a few people.

Anyone have any additional information they have heard?

This is the first I have heard this. My pass expires in July so at least I will know by then because if there are no concerts, then it won't be worth it for me to renew.

I saw Smash Mouth on Wednesday night, they brought in a crowd. I really enjoyed it.

We were down for 10 days....saw all of Starships show's one per day. I missed this comment? Did he announce that at which show? We book our trip around enjoying seeing this group. He stated at the Saturday night 5:30pm show he would be back next year and thanked the dedicated crowd and Disney. Hmmm We do the Flower Power every year but this is a disappointment.

We also saw Fuel....we were surprised with this selection and moved on after 15 minutes. It is for a different audience than we fall into. Lots of younger patrons.
