So im planning a trip with myself and older daughter (9).....but i have been thinking about bringing my younger daughter 3 1/2 as well but im nervous about the food.....has anyone had experince dinning with food allergies....she is allergic to milk and peanuts....???? she is happy about staying home with daddy and her little brother but would be happier to go to disney....so any advice??

Head for the DISabilities board, where the food allergy gurus are. But Disney is definitely well known for their abilities in that area.

I am allergic to latex and avacado and in every TS restaurant the chef came out to talk to me about my allergies. They would assure me that every disney restaurant does not use latex gloves and then they would point out the dishes to avoid due to my other allergies. With the large amount of visitors that go to Disney each year with allergies they have really come up with an awesome plan A, B and C to cover someone with allergies.

If you do your ddp online there is an option where you can identify any allergies. We have a grandson who has severe milk and nut allergies. So I checked those opitons when making the res. Here is the wonderful part. At each restaurant a chef came to our table and discussed his diet. The chef explained our options and explained how both the entree and desert would be prepared. We ate at Sci Fi, Whispering Canyon, Ohanas, and 1900 Park Fare. Each place made our 10yr. old feel special

While I agree with going to the allergy section of DisBoards, I can tell you that we've made it through a WDW trip free of any allergic reactions. DD5 is peanut and tree nut allergic and I am shellfish allergic- bivalve specific. We did 10 TS meals and 20+ snacks and neither one of us had a single reaction. We made sure all of our allergies were clearly listed on our ADRs and brought this to the host's attention as well as our server's for every meal. Everyone was super accomodating. We even had a custom fancy cake made by the Contemporary bakery and everything was perfect...no reactions. I think you have to have 3 or more allergies to file the form with WDW for advance food prep, but I am friendly with a girl who has so many allergies that every restaurant WDW made her custom meals. Even counter service spots were really good with us. Starring Rolls went out of their way to ensure DD5 got some sweet nut free treats that were not exposed to the items in the case (since there are some nut based products in there). They were also quick to advise us against certain items where they couldn't guarantee safety. Even buffets were a breeze...pretty much every time, the chef came out and gave me a guided tour of what's safe and what's not. The chef at Chef Mickey's even offered to get DD5 some safe donuts since the ones on the buffet were not. The only downside...the chef at CRT didn't understand my allergy and refused to serve me shrimp.

All in all- we felt super safe eating at all of the WDW restaurants.:goodvibes

My 10 yr old daughter has allergies to peanut, tree nuts, and some fruits. She outgrew an allergy to egg. Disney is wonderful in dealing with food allergies. It is one of the many reasons I prefer to vacation at Disney rather than any other place.

If you make online reservations (or on the phone)---Disney will note your allergies (either 1 or 10---doesn't matter how many). The chefs have always come out and spoken to use before preparing our daughter's food. At buffets, the chefs have walked with us and had her point out what she wanted. They then went out back and plated her food with fresh items (not was out at the table). If they have any doubt about the safety---they will err on the side of caution and suggest something else.

Disney truly is the only place I feel very comfortable eating at restaurants.

My fiancee has a pretty bad peanut and treenut allergy. In the 3 or so trips we have taken together, there has never been an issue. I note it on all of our ADR's. In just about all cases a chef has come out and given her a talk about what she can or can't eat or any other options they may have that are not on the menu. In cases of buffets the chef has taken her (I like to tag along) around the buffet and goes over every bread, dish, sauce, dessert, etc. and what is safe for her to eat and what she should stay away from. Usually the chef will come back towards the end of our meal to see how she liked everything or will go over the desserts with her if they didn't already.

We don't usually snack much. We usually stick with ice cream, ices, soft pretzels and popcorn for the most part and she has never had an issue with any of that.

Just make a note of the allergy when you make your ADR's and mention it when you check-in (if they don't mention it first which they usually do). Disney is really impressive when it comes to catering to those with allergies.

Disney is awesome with food allergies! My DD is tree nut/coconut allergic. We usually only eat counter service, so we don't call ahead for anything, just tell the person taking your order and the manager/chef usually comes out and talks to you.

TAKE HER!!

Yes, I'm yelling because Disney is well known as the most accomidating place on Earth for food allergies. It was one of the main reasons I wanted to go to Disney before our first trip.

Milk and peanuts are both top 8, so they deal with those all the time. My oldest had a very long list of complicated allergies (hello, MSG? Really?) and they accomidated us with no issues. Even at counter service restaurants, they were more than happy to share ingredients with me so we could find what was safe.
