Food Allergies Question

My girls both have a large number of things they're allergic to (dairy, soy, corn, eggs, grains besides rice, nuts, some fruits). Can WDW accomodate us in their restaurants?

We never eat out, ever. I always cook at home, can't even buy processed foods. I'd need to find a chef who could grill some chicken or fish with nothing on it, steam some veggies and cook some rice. Can they do this?

Thanks so much!

Hi and :welcome: to both DisBoards and disABILITIES!

If you click on where it says "disABILTIES" at the top of this page it will take you to the Index. One of the top items is the "disABILTIES FAQ" which will gives lots of useful information. Go to Post #3, look under dietary restrictions. You will find a lot of information and links there.

Or, if you want an easier route, click on the link in my signature.

Also, on the first two pages of this forum are several reports from people who have recently been to WDW with children with severe multiple food allergies and how happy they were; you might want to read several of them.

My son is allergic to milk, soy, corn, rice and tomatoes. We have found that going to the buffets at WDW have been our best choice. My son is basically and fruit and vegetables person, so there is usually a large variety of these foods on the buffets. The chef will come out and explain what are safe foods taking into account the allergies. They have also made him special dishes that he has loved to try. Good luck!

My son has multiple life-threatening food allergies, and we rarely eat out except at Disneyworld. We have vacationed there for the past 2 years and are going back next year simply because it is a "true vacation" for all of us because I do not have to cook every meal on vacation. As the moderator posted, there is lots of information that you can read, but rest assured that with a little planning ahead and communication with the Disney staff, you can have a wonderful visit with memorable meals!

If you can catch Chef TJ at O"Hana's - he is the best chef on the property to deal with allergies.

I would contact that "special diets" office and see what they say. Usually if you can give them an idea of what foods you would like to eat they can work it out.

I've also found Le Cellier to be excellent in dealing with food allergies.

I agree with what previous posters said! You can definately go and enjoy yourself completely.

My daughter has food allergies to milk, egg, wheat, peanuts, and tree nuts. They made her all kinds of yummy food at Disney. We've gone twice now because it is such a nice vacation for me from constant cooking. IMO It can typically be even more difficult to go on vacation and pack all the special foods, find condos with cooking facilities etc... that's why we've loved Disney.

Chef TJ made my daughter the most amazing meal at Ohana. Definately try to reserve dinner there. The only bad experiences we've had were at Wolfgang Puck Express in Downtown Disney and Chef's de France inside Epcot.

If you ever have specific questions, just pm me. Good luck!

Hi! As the other posters have mentioned, Disney is GREAT with food allergies! Any chef on property will be able to cook what you mentioned (plain chicken, fish, veggies, rice, etc). There are also a bunch of chef's that do go out of their way to make extra special meals that are completely safe for allergies. Make sure to contact WDW before your trip and have them send you a list of the CS restaurants and snack carts - they will tell you what allergy friendly products they have so that you will know in advance and be able to prepare. Also most of the TS and CS have tapioca ener-g buns (which should be free of all the allergans you mentioned). For me there's something about being able to eat a burger (w/ a bun) and fries (a lot of places use dedicated fryers - just check which ones before you go) on vacation that just makes me feel so "normal" - like I can eat what others are having without worrying about getting sick. Also I have to mention that Chef Ron at the Turf Club (Saratoga Springs) has always gone above and beyond to make me safe meals that are so delicious - so if you're headed over to DTD, you might wanna check that place out. Hope you have a wonderful and safe trip!!! :goodvibes

My dd7 is allergic to wheat, eggs, milk, tree nuts, peanuts, shell fish, and sesame... Are there any safe SNACK options for her at the parks?
Anyone have a list of what's safe for their FA kids?
Thanks!

Ingredients and suppliers can change at any time so it really is dangerous to use lists posted online. Brenda can give you the most up to date lists, though you'll receive a bunch of different lists for each allergy and you'll have to cross reference them yourself into a single list. I'm a list maker and build a spreadsheet broken down by park including locations at each park where I can find each safe item. You really do unfortunately need to do this sort of thing each and every time you travel to WDW (or anywhere for that matter). It's time consuming but it's SOOOOO worth the peace of mind knowing that every bit of information is up to date and that you don't need to worry while on vacation.

ETA: We were able to build a list of snack options all over the place so rest assured that you will find things that will be safe.
