Hi

Absolutely. Let them know about the allergies when you make your ADRs. When you get there, remind the host/hostess and a chef will walk with you through the buffet to show you safe foods and prepare safe foods, if necessary.

Thanks for the responses. I love the fact that Disney caters to people that have allergies.

We too have a DD with Food Allergies but I have to say we've never encountered any problems when eating at Disney, make sure you inform the CM's once you arrive at the restaurants. I have also contacted brenda.bennett@disney.com and she was very helpful at sending me plenty of information via email regarding ingredient labels etc within the parks :) , I certainly recommend doing this just for your own peace of mind. Hope all goes well, have a great trip :flower3:

My DS is allergic to peanut, egg and shellfish. We have eaten at the buffets with him for the last 6 years w/only 1 incident (non-life threatening). As said above, make sure to mention the allergies when making the ADR, call the number that Disney Dining provides you with and speak with chefs beforehand, and most importantly, IMO. ask that a plate of food be made up for your child IN THE BACK (kitchen) to avoid cross-contamination at the buffets. The chefs are more than happy to prepare approved foods for your allergic child. In most cases, our DS has a better looking plate than we do, LOL.

Enjoy!

Thankfully my dd doesn't have the food allergies. It's actually me that has it. This is my long list: spices, marinades, milk, shellfish, nuts, msg, & sulfites (preservatives)

I would let the CM know when making your ressie and call the resturant about 5-7 days before your ressie so that they have something for you.

I had no prob at the character meals or any TS for that matter. It was at a CS place that I had the prob. They all ensured me nothing was in the food (dairy/eggs) and low and behold my DS was not eating when we went to our TS ressie later in the evening. We picked him up and there was poop leaking all over:scared: ...got on my shoes everything:sad2: . He was ok though, did not have to take him to the hospital as it stopped before he became dehydrated. Milk products/by products use to mess up his digestive tract (he no longer has allergies; out grew them, even though I believe it was a result of lots of prayer) If it were egges it would have been a different story and maybe we would have been in the hospital , so I suggest that you be very very careful and always remember that epi pen and also benadryl if she has milder allergies (had to use this a few time during my trip; the benadryl not epi pen thank God);)

If her allergies are really bad. I would also recommend eating only TS. You can always save leftovers or order two meals and save one for the next day. When you go to the parks or at the resort ask them to heat up the food for you.

No worries, she was very helpful when I contacted her.
  See you in Disney :wave2:

My son is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, corn, fish, and shellfish and we had no problems at all eating at WDW last October. The chef always walked the buffet line with me and pointed out what to stay away from. At Chef Mickeys, he asked my DS what toppings he wanted on his ice cream and personally brought those items out on a separate plate for my son to avoid cross contamination. I wish all restaurants are as wonderful as Disney!

Hi

Not only possible, but terrific! I would suggest noting the allergy on your reservation, then making sure the information is linked with your names when you check in. Normally the host/hostess will say to us, "I see you have a food allergy; the chef will come speak to you after you are seated." I go the extra mile of calling ahead a few days before our meals and ordering special items (such as a dairy-free lingonberry dessert for my husband, a lactose-intolerant Swede!:thumbsup2 ) or a meat dish made with tofu instead (for myself). They are happy to accommodate your special dietary needs, but the key is flexibility and/or advance planning so you will know for sure what you can and can't eat! Also, the chefs will typically walk a buffet with you to let you know what you can have. Enjoy!:wizard:

Thanks everyone! I got the email from Disney about how they accommodate people with allergies. I wish more places were as great as Disney! One less thing to worry about as we plan for our trip. Now we have to decide where to make reservations. :) Any suggestions?

I liked boma, the chef came out and spoke to me then made something special for my DS (it was not on the buffet). She was so great about everything. She even came out with the meal herself and they did not charge us for him as he was under two, I was however willing to pay. Even though all the chefs came out (except for one) I think I had the best experience at Boma. I was amazed when she told me she would make whatever he liked!!

I would avoid Captin Jacks in DTD as they told me they could do nothing for my DS! They did not even try to help!!

We were just at WDW. Our dd12 was diagnosed with multiple food allergies (soy, sesame, peanut, some treenut) 30 days before our trip. Brenda Bennett was a godsend :)

We ate at Marrakesh, Prime Time Cafe, Raglan Road, Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch), Kona, PSLunch, Boma and Crystal Palace (b'fast). The only TS restauant I wasn't pleased with was Raglan Road---our server was not helpful and the chef didn't come out. I was uncomfortable with the server's verbal information----I'd prefer to talk to the chef in person OR read labels. Our dd's major problem is with the soy, which is in everything. The only thing she could eat was the mac and cheese appy and the bangers and mash (and the sausages were GROSS). But all the other restaurants were great, the chefs talked directly to dd12 and made her feel normal again after a really hard month :)

For counter service, we ate at Cosmic Ray's twice, Pecos Bill, Sunshine Seasons twice, Studio Catering/Flatbread Grill, Tusker House. and the Mexico cs place in Epcot. We had no problems at all with finding the ingredients binder at each location. We deliberately ate on the early side for every meal in case it would take extra time to talk with a manager or chef or if prep would take longer. I knew from Brenda Bennett what would be safe for our daughter to eat the MK locations and that all the wraps/tortillas and regular salad dressings all over WDW would be fine, though of course I double-checked at every location. The chef at Sunshine Seasons was FABULOUS and spent extra time finding a dessert dd could eat (the fruit tulip---she was beyond thrilled :) ). Cosmic Ray's was also very helpful. We needed the cooked carrots intercepted before they were tossed with the ginger-sesame dressing and both times the manager scooped a container of carrots, walked over to where our food was being prepped (I could see this from the waiting area), held the carrots while watching the progress, then put the carrots onto the tray and carried the tray over to me. So reassuring to this still-freaked-out mom.

Funny/sad story on the way home. We needed to grab something at the airport (flight delayed) so dd12 said "Well, just ask for the ingredients binder and we'll figure it out." I was sorry to inform her that we were back in the real world without ingredients binders at every foodservice location!
