Food allergies at CS restaurants

We are travelling to Disney with my nephew who is 3 years old. He has two very serious food allergies - nuts and eggs.

We are planning to have lunch in Epcot World Showcase on our second day and I was thinking about eating at Liberty Inn at the American Pavillon because it is halfway and I thought that it would be the easiest pavillon for picky eaters.

I just noticed on allears.net that as of May 09 The children's menu consists of the following

chilled chicken on romaine - what three year old is going to eat a salad
chicken nuggets - rolled in egg at Disney (we know from last year)
Peanut butter and Jelly sandwich - an obvious no

My question is will the CS pavillon make a substitute for food allergies, ie give him a burger as they serve that on the regular menu. I know from our previous trip that the TS restaurants are fabulous, but I just wanted to know in advance if we need to study the CS menus carefully before we go.

Thanks

You can find out more information over at the DisAbilities Board.

When I was at WDW with my niece who is lactose intollerant, I just asked to see the binder with the ingredients. The chef would come with the binder and find something that my niece could eat.

Brenda Bennett can send you information on the best CS places in each park. There is now a special diet e-mail, that you can contact. You will find this over on the DisAbilities Board-not sure exactly where otherwise I would post a link for you.

If you're asking "will they give me a hamburger kid's meal for the kid's meal price?" The answer is no. They'll happily let you buy a hamburger for your child, but no mickey plate and two child-sized sides, just the regular adult meal.

If you're on a dining plan, the best way I've found to deal with it is to order the special-diets food separately, and they'll just ring it up as a CS credit. It's pretty inconvenient and irritating, since that's where I'm supposed to get gluten free mac and cheese for my DD at Epcot. It's $7.00 for a 9oz tray of mac and cheese (the same volume as fits in a regular kid's mac and cheese meal) and you don't get a drink or sides with it. On the dining plan she at least gets a drink and a fruit cup with her mac and cheese.

(And yes, for allergy reasons, this is an officially-sanctioned way to handle the dining plan and children, and the manager will override the computer/CM. However, you may need to get a manager involved).
