Has anyone done the Wishes Dessert Party with food allergies? Would love to hear your experiences.

Who do you contact about the allergies? I assume that is the type of place you would have to alert in advance.

Thanks so much!

No, we have not done that particular experience, but we have had many great experiences with food allergies at Disney. In general Disney is very accomidating.

There is contact info in the disabilities faq thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=595713

The person that has been most helpful to me is Brenda Bennett. Her email is brenda.bennett@disney.com

Disney's website also has a page on dietary concerns.

Hope this helps!

I went to the dessert party this past Feb with my son who has a peanut allergy.. When i called to make the reservation I let them know he was allergic to peanuts so they made a note.. when I arrived and they seated us the manager came over and said"I know you have a peanut allergy we have made a separate tray of desserts for him" :thumbsup2 A few minutes later they came over with a try that had a few different cakes, some choc covered strawberries 2 different types of a sorbet, some fresh berries and I am sure there is a few things i missed.. There was plenty on there for him to have.. We had a very good experience and the view was awesome

Thanks so much! I have been to restaurants at WDW and had the chef come out to discuss my food allergies but since these selections are all pre-made I wanted to contact someone in advance.

Good to hear! We are too excited. :) Looking at the photos of the desserts, it seems like there is a pretty big selection so I am hopeful there are several I can enjoy.

I will say though they do not serve soda ( we are soda drinkers). They serve coffee, tea, and maybe juice. We did buy soda and bring it in.. Have a great time :goodvibes

We also attended the Wishes dessert party last year. My son and I suffer from severe nut and peanut allergy. We alerted them at every step; reservation, change in reservation and check in. They prepared a yummy selection of nut free desserts for us that was pre-plated. I believe had we wanted more they could have managed that as well. It was a dessert buffet so I was glad our food was prepared separately. They originally only had a plate for one of us though, so I had to wait (and nibble off my son's) Make sure you check multiple times to confirm it is actually in your reservation. Also, while their was no soda, my recollection is that they had lemonade.

Brenda's no longer with Special Diets unfortunately. There is a noticible difference in communication and support since her departure. You'll still be taken care of but it's just not the same.

I've read great nut (peanut and tree nut) reviews. I think I may have read one milk free review. I don't recall any reviews involving any other allergies. That's why I have yet to book the dessert party. There are so few desserts that my DD13 can eat around WDW that I'm just uncertain that there would be much beyond what she gets everywhere else. I'm not about to pay those kinds of prices to get the same Tofutti ice cream and Enjoy Life cookies and maybe Bob's Red Mill brownies (chefs at resorts have made these for her) we get everywhere else. Her allergy list is complicated.

My DS has many food allergies, including milk, milk products, soy products, corn products, and chocolate, to name a few. So, what does he eat for dessert at home? Usually fruit or sorbet. Maybe a piece of fruit pie on a graham cracker crust. So, I am not inclined to pay $30.00 or whatever it is now to have him eat some fruit or sorbet. If we ever go without him, then I will consider the dessert party. Othwewise, we will watch Wishes from other areas of the park. Sorry, just MHO.

We did the dessert party in April with DD, who is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. I made sure her allergies were noted when I made the ADR. I also emailed Special Diets.

When we arrived at the party, the CM who seated us said that a special allergy plate was being prepared for DD and it would be brought to our table. A few minutes later, the manager brought her plate out. It had brownies, cookies, fruit, and a huge bowl of vanilla ice cream. He told us to let him know if she would like more, but she wasn't even able to finish what was on her plate.

Having nut allergies usually means not having a lot of options for dessert, so we went to this party with low expectations (I even brought some nut-free candy for her, just in case). We were pleasantly surprised with what they offered her to eat. Also, we loved the view and having an uncrowded place to relax and watch the fireworks. I thought it was worth the price just to have a nice place to watch Wishes.
