Anyone have any good Fondue recipes? I think we are going to do fondue at my family Christmas party this year. Thanks for your help!! :teeth:

The first one is a cheese fondue

1/12 cups white grape juice
2 lbs. Velveeta - cubed
3/4 cup green onion cheese
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup butter

Place grape juice in a crockpot and bring to a boil (or get it hot). Add cheeses and stir occasionally until melted. Add sour cream and butter. Cook, stirring occasionally until smooth.

Serve with: cubed French bread, steamed broccoli and cauliflower, or boiled new potatoes.

This is so good my kids ask me to make it for their vegetables.

Cheesy Pizza Fondue
1 jar meatless spaghetti sauce
2 cups shredded Mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
2 tsp. dried oregano
1 tsp. dried, minced onion
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 unsliced loaf Italian bread, cubed

In a 1 1/2 quart crockpot, combine the spaghetti sauce, cheeses, oregano, onion and garlic powder. Cook for 4-6 hours or until cheese is melting and sauce is hot. Serve with bread cubes.

We have also done hot oil fondue. This is one you really have to watch, we only do it on the stovetop. You basically heat up oil, and when it's really hot, let everyone spear their favorite things (breaded shrimp, jalapeno poppers, clam strips, mozzarella sticks, etc.). Dip them in oil until cooked. Be careful, they get EXTREMELY hot.

Hope this helps you some. I know I've got a chocolate fondue recipe somewhere. I'll see if I can find it if you want it.

In case you aren't able to find green onion cheese for the cheese fondue, here are a couple of substitutions you can use. You can use pepper jack cheese, but it will make it a bit spicier, not bad, just different. Or you can use plain Monterey Jack with some cut up green onion. Both options will work. The only green onion cheese I've ever found was from Cache Valley Cheese, and it's usually only done around this time of year. I don't know if your stores carry that brand, but if not, here are a couple of options. I really hope you like this one. We've done it for parties, and people rave about it!

Basic fondue:
* 1 cup dry white wine
* 1/2 pound shredded Swiss cheese
* 1/2 pound shredded Gruyere cheese
* 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut into 1 inch cubes

DIRECTIONS:

1. Simmer wine in fondue pot. Add Swiss cheese, Gruyere cheese, 1/4 pound at a time. Stir after each addition of cheese until melted. Stir in flour. When all the cheese has melted, stir in salt and nutmeg. Serve with cut-up French bread.

Usually I toss the cheese in the flour first (shred it into a ziploc and toss with flour).. if you do it that way you don't have to add in extra. Also good is putting in some crushed garlic with the wine. You can make similar but instead of wine use beer, subsitute chilis for garlic and instead of ementhaler and grueyre use different chedder cheeses. yum!

You can also have your main course for fondue.. use either canola oil or a vegetable broth and cook different meats and veggies - you will need to heat the oil first on the stove, or get an electric fondue pot as you will want consistent, even heat.

There are a variety of dessert fondues you can make as well- use really good chocolate, thin with a little milk, add in different liquers- dippers such as pound cake, bannana, strawberry, brownies, marhmallow, pretzels, and graham crackers..

Look online for some recipes (try allrecipes.com) not sure where you live - but look and see if you have a fondue restaurant nearby meltingpot.com or the colorado fondue company - for some more ideas.
