Our last trip in March went swimmingly. My uber-planning paid off to the point that almost everything came together. Almost.

Our last day at Hollywood Studios I decided last minute to cancel our Sci-Fi Dine-in lunch. Why? The day prior I had a sit down lunch at Epcot that sucked up so much time that I figured it would be the same deal. I also had a LL for Slinky Dog that clashed, and I didn't want to deal with the logistics.

While I had my reasons, I still wonder what if. I read about how neat the experience is and how hard it is to get in that I feel regret. I'm already scheming about how to plan park days and ADRs to increase likelihood of scoring another res for the next trip...in 2025. Lol.😂

We had such a fabulous trip and ate at CRT, Ohana, Space 220, Topolino's breakfast, Cali Grill, Check Mickey's, BOG. Any tips on getting over my Sci-Fi FOMO?

We did it once and thought it was neat, but it was a one and done for us. If I hadn't, I would still want to try it, bc that's how you find your favorites. Also, it's unique and not something you will find elsewhere. Those are the places we like to try.
I may not be any help because I'm an enabler 😂

Getting over your FOMO:

1. You can still look forward to going to SciFi on your next visit.
2. You made the right choice! Slinky Dog > SciFi
3. SciFi food is not fabulous (to me), you ate at much better places
4. It’s dark inside SciFi and hard to see what you’re eating.
5. Cars aren’t very comfortable to sit in.

Enjoy plotting your next visit!

I agree with everything that Disneydawg74 said except for #1 you are not missing anything. I would do 50’s PTC or Hollywood Brown Derby instead they are so much better.

Just know that its freezing cold inside that place! You might have shivered through your entire meal like I did.

The temperature is supposed to feel like you are outside on a cool evening, but its too much.

True!

I had never been until our last trip and I was disappointed. It’s a very cute concept but that’s all. Sadly

Its nice but its not THAT nice to be that concerned with missing out. Look up a real drive in around you, make or pickup food on your way, and enjoy the real thing instead.

Honestly I personally think its suggested because everywhere else is not very good inside of HS so when people ask you have to suggest something.

If that place was in Epcot it likely wouldn't make a top 10 list for where to eat.

Agree with all of the above. I went to Sci Fi once with my kids when they were about 8 and 12. I thought it was a cool concept, but uncomfortable seating and too dark to see what you're eating. Kids didn't appreciate the concept at all - they are too young to have ever eaten in a car at a real drive-in movie. On our last trip, they wanted to try it again, they're now 18 and 22. I said fine, we booked it for lunch same day (it's not difficult to get day before or day of) and then we ended up canceling once we realized we'd be paying something in the vicinity of $25/per person for a burger and drink, and spending too much time there. I was glad. I knew my "kids" would feel as lost with the concept as they had the first go around. I was a drive-in movie kid, and I remain a huge movie fan. That said, I agree with poster above, if I have time to sit and eat at DHS, I'd prefer Hollywood Brown Derby or 50's Prime Time.

We ate lunch there a few years ago since the place next door (can't recall the name) was closed for refurbishment. In that area of the park, most of the other food choices were walk-up 'fast food'. Didn't want to walk to the other side of the park just to eat lunch. We didn't have reservations and signed up for the wait list. Didn't have to wait too long and requested one of the regular style tables around the back of the restaurant. Food was very average and the brief movie clips won't mean much to anyone under 50 since they probably would have no idea what movie/TV show those clips are from.

The inside seemed dingy to us and in need of a redo. Not a place we would choose for our next time at Disney.

"Aggressively mediocre" is what I would call my lunch there. Not terrible, but not great. Just meh. The A/C was the best part about it besides the theming, the cool and the dark were fantastic during a scorcher at HS. But it's really nothing to feel FOMO over. We did have it booked for our trip because my partner's never eaten there and wanted to try it for the theming even though I warned her the food was just okay. But then Roundup Rodeo popped up and we decided to do that for lunch instead. Just feel like there are better options even at HS. Though it was pretty hilarious to recognize some of the bad movie clips because I love Mystery Science Theater 3000.
