Following Dr. Seuss to BCV- a November 2011 TR Updates 6/11

Happy Birthday Ellen!!

Loved the update. That was a lot of fires you son had. Did he eat them all? Great pictures of the kitchen sink. I think we are going to dinner at EOS after a day at Disney Quest and then we will head over for a kitchen sink. We will also be a party of 5, so maybe we can also come close if we just eat sandwiches instead of burgers. Of course then we have to skip sundaes Ghirardelli. Such difficult decisions. Guess I will have to plan another trip.

Looking forward to more updates. A little over two weeks until we leave and I am dying to go!

I will be back to post replies in a bit, just wanted to get a quick update in before I attempt to straighten my "Christmas has thrown up all over the place" house....

And thank-you SO MUCH for all the birthday wishes!! They made me feel so special!! :cutie:

Sean & I walked back to the villa, and on the way we stopped in the Marketplace- I wanted to pick up butter & milk so I could make mac & cheese for Sean over the vacay (I brought a few boxes from home). Took a few pics of what they were offering that Wednesday night-

And one of a shop window-

IMG_3031.jpg

Back in 438, our luggage had arrived :goodvibes so I was able to do some unpacking and bed-making for Sean. Since they allow 5 in a 1BDRM at BCV, but don't provide bedding for #5, we had packed one of our suitcases with an aerobed, his blankets, and a sheet. (Sean likes sleeping in this bed- we bought it last year for Thanksgiving in Tennesee, and I think this bed was the only thing he LIKED about that holiday...:sad2:) Anyway, here is how a single aerobed fits in the villa-

IMG_5459.jpg

IMG_5461.jpg

Of course, we always have to bring his favorite stuffed pals-

IMG_5460.jpg

When he sees everything familiar on that bed, he is VERY happy to sleep there. :cloud9: (and sorry thumper looks like he has seen better days- that is the cleanest he gets, and Sean won't accept ANY of the new ones we've tried.) Sean really wanted to go swimming, he kept asking the whole way back. Which is kind of weird, because he NEVER wants to swim at home. :confused3 No complaints from us- we are THRILLED, of course, when he wants to swim!! So when the rest of the family returned, we decided Pods would go in the pool for a bit with Sean, and I would take T&T over to the BW to see the entertainment and shoot some hoops. So Sean & Pods decided on the quiet pool-

IMG_5465.jpg

IMG_5467.jpg

Which was REALLY quiet, because it was a bit chilly out there, everyone! So they moved over to the hot tub-

IMG_5469.jpg

IMG_5470.jpg

T&T&I headed over to the BW via the BC quiet pool-

IMG_3033.jpg

IMG_3036.jpg

About two steps before we got to the basketball kiosk, I realized I had messed up.

No cash. DUH. :headache:

So back we went to BCV to get some. But on the way, I remembered that a little bird on the DIS had told me to get a Sangria at the window for the walk over to EPCOT from BWV- well, I figured the Sangria would work for a walk to BCV, too, so I got one.

IMG_3038.jpg

IMG_3039.jpg

So....back to BCV via the outside walkway, got the cash, then back to BW-

IMG_3042.jpg

Cont'd next post....

Then back to the basketball-

IMG_3043.jpg

IMG_3044.jpg

Where BOTH boys got one of their shots, so they pooled their winnings and instead of two little balls, got one BIG ball-

IMG_3045.jpg

Yippee. Always fun to bring a basketball home on the plane. Actually, this was the ONE time I was actually a little sad we were staying at BCV- no basketball court like at AKV, SSR & OKW. Oh well- I'm sure they'll figure out some other way to play with it at BCV...:rolleyes1

The magician was JUST beginning his act- I was SUPER excited, because T&T have NEVER seen the entertainment on the BW- really, Pods & I never had before last year, either, I guess we just never hit it right.

IMG_3046.jpg

It was really, really funny (of course!) and so good, in fact, Tyler took those plugs out of his head to listen! Both kids enjoyed this, which speaks VOLUMES as to how wonderful the BW entertainment is- every child, teenager and adult in the audience were equally enthralled. Well, with the exception of that boy who was up there entertaining us, too- I'm pretty sure his family might have been slightly more excited- but only slightly. During the show, Illuminations went off over in EPCOT- here is the terrible awful photo I took-

IMG_3047.jpg

Sorry, but my pics are just not the greatest when I'm on vacation with my family- I'm just too focused on my kids! Silly Mommy!

After the show, we walked back to BCV....via the outside back path that we wore down totally on this vacation. The boys were all going to hang in the villa- Pods had put Sean to bed already (well, honestly, Sean puts himself to bed when he is tired and on this day, WOW, was he ever tired!), and we were going to go back to the BW because I really, really wanted to have that tuna appetizer at FF....even if I wasn't hungry AT ALL...but this was the only night I could figure it in, so off we went! After, of course, strict instructions that there was NO ball bouncing in the villa on floor #4- which both boys understood would be HORRIBLE for the family below us, and they promised not to do. :thumbsup2

We arrived at 9:45 and were seated at the bar, which was where we requested (we did not have an ADR, something to keep in mind if you really want to come here and can't get in)-

IMG_3048.jpg

I wanted to try the pumpkin cocktail that was on the menu- I do love me some pumpkin!!

IMG_3053.jpg

Well....I do love me some pumpkin, but this drink? Umm...not so much. It tasted more like eggnog to me than pumpkin- but the bartender was a DOLL- as she made it for me, she said I could have something else if it wasn't to my liking. SO...onto drink #2, a Grape Martini-

IMG_3054.jpg

See the garnish? Frozen grapes- LOVE THAT!! I am soooo doing that the next time I serve grapetinis!

IMG_3055.jpg

Then it was time for tuna! Yellowfin Tuna Tartare and crispy tempura tuna vegetable Sushi roll - Hijiki and wakame seaweed, yuzu, tobiko, and wasabi foam, with a sweet and spicy sauce - $16.00

IMG_3056.jpg

I don't know if you have ever tried this, but...if you like sushi, you should. It's AWESOME!!

IMG_3057.jpg

IMG_3059.jpg

We asked for the check, and Lorna the lovely bartender at FF advised us we could get a 10% DVC discount at the bar- we explained we were 1 day shy of our TIW, since we were all getting new APs in the morning. Love that Lorna!

On our walk back to BVC, we saw that the magician had just finished his final act of the night (which had begun at 10 right outside of FF). We also saw a huge line of people waiting at Boardwalk Joe's, no doubt because of this menu-

IMG_3061.jpg

On the way, i noticed this HORRID sign at ESPN-

IMG_3062.jpg

which I was NOT a fan of AT ALL since we were leaving on Monday night, and I certainly didn't need any reminders of THAT fact.

At home we watched a little tv before calling it a night- in the morning, we were having breakfast at Kona and breaking in some APs at MK!

Nice quick update, huh? Nothing like stalling cleaning by an hour and a half! :rotfl:

umm yes that was a great way to stall cleaning. I sympathize for the christmas that threw up on your house. I have nutcrackers everywhere. Once upon at time they were all in their assigned place and now the mouse king is doing battle with the legos and fishing tackle. Love that Katie. But I loved looking at the FF app. yummmy. We did scallops last Saturday and they just weren't the same as the Blue Zoo ones. The apps in WDW just can't be beat.

Our server was Brian, and he was wonderful-

IMG_3009.jpg

We had Brian when we went last week. LOVED him !! He really was the best !! We had the Milky Way Sundae and it was sooo good. DH and I shared and I couldn't finish and he couldn't either. Sooo yummy though.

Wonderful update!!!! But it made me a little sad - all of the pictures and stories of the BW, we were living it just back in October. I wish I was there now. :sad1: :rotfl2:

FF always looks so good to me. We did Kouzzina this year, but I would love to try FF - maybe when DD is a little older. As soon as I saw the menu you posted, I thought, "man, I'd like to try that pumpkin martini, but would it be good or gross?" I guess now I know! :rotfl:

So, I forget.....is there a bar at FF? I've eaten there, but I'm drawing a blank. That app and martini look amazing. Yum!

I love Sean's aerobed and how he feels cozy with all his stuff around. I have nights like that too. :thumbsup2 So great that he seems so happy and actually wanted to go swimming.

Oh yeah - I could totally see my boys bouncing that basketball in the room.

I really didn't know that all the 1 BRs sleep 5. That's great!

Never fear.... there's a McSparkleson here!!!! :rotfl2:

Better late than never, right? OK, so here are my two very important observations.....
1) Did you take Sean to see Tinkerbell and the fairies because when you do that, you know you have to SHRINK down to their size. And it appears that Sam I Am shrunk before going to B&C.....
2) Tyler is definitely "wired." :lmao:

Now on to other comments, because we all know I'm not one to keep my yap shut.....

The tuna tartare is to die for!!!! I'm hoping to have it in 8 days....... just sayin.... :rolleyes1

And now I know why your pics are blurry on our DISmoms trips.... because you are just too focused on.... ME!

Wow! I thought you were just joking when you said you were eating a kitchen sink! I didn't realize they had something actually called that! I would do my best, ice cream lover that I am!

You are such a patient mother to deal with all of Sean's quirks. I don't know if I would have that much sanity left! You managed to get him the fries he loves, his books, his friends (hello Blue & Thumper!) and even brought mac & cheese? :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Superwoman!

Also - happy Belated BDAY! :dance3:

How did you have room to eat sushi after the ice cream? Me personally, dinner would have been only ice cream. Forget sushi. If it swims, I don't eat it! :sad2:

Sorry for the double post, but I forgot the most important thing! If you ever come to OH, I know the BEST location for an ice wine martini, made with real Ice Wine, and it too has the frozen grapes. First time I got one though, I thought they had put an olive in it, turns out it was a frozen green grape! :rotfl: Super Delish!

Is it wrong that I know want one of these at 7:30 in the morning? :rotfl:

Enjoying your TR as usual. It's making me very anxious for my next trip end of Jan. into first week of Feb. Can't wait! I'm spending the first 4 days at ASMusic then 2 days in one of my favorites - BC! My brother and nephew from FL are meeting me for the week. I think after reading all your TRs I've finally been inspired to write my own. So I plan on taking tons of pictures.
Oh and next time you're looking for sangria in that Epcot resort area try Hurricane Hannah's. I had time to kill on the last day of my last trip while waiting for the ME so I got one there and sat in a rocker at the YC. Awesome! Then on my way back to BW I got one at the pizza window. The pizza window one was good but I think premixed. The bartender at HH's mixed it right there in front of me.

I just found your new TR today, I had been following your cruise one over on the Community board but somehow I lost track of it. can't wait to hear about this trip...........going back to read.....

Sounds like a great start to your trip! Glad Sean likes Dr Suess enough to follow him anywhere. That's awesome that you ended up getting the same room you had last time.

That Kitchen Sink looked good. Wow! there's a lot in it, did I see brownies and twinkies? Crazy, no wonder nobody can finish it, LOL! My Dh could probaby put a good sized dent in one, though, we'll have to pay B & C a visit next time we are there.

That's good you brought that aerobed and linens for Sean, it probably made him feel more at home. I have that same Thumper! I got him on one of my trips when I was a teenager.

Can't wait to read more! :yay:

Edited to add a Belated Happy Birthday!! :bday::cake:

Is it wrong that I know want one of these at 7:30 in the morning? :rotfl:

No, they taste like grape juice with a kick! :cool1: Forget bloody Mary's or Mimosas, this can be the new brunch drink! I want one now..

Mmm, that Caramel Apple Margarita on the menu at Boardwalk Joe's sounds lovely!

Hi Ellen -- I'm in! Love love love your trip reports! Hope all is well up there in NJ -- it is raining cats and dogs down here in VA!

Beth

Hi Beth!!! How's your cruisin life? :worship: We are ok here in NJ- the weather has actually been so mild so far this fall! I LOVE putting up the Christamas decorations outside in 60 degree weather- it's AWESOME!!! :goodvibes I'm so glad you're here!

party::bday:party::bday:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLEN!!!!

Thank-you Tracy!

OMG That's Right - I Knew Someone I liked Had a B-Day today. I wish FB would send reminders everyday!!!!!!!

So....................................

Happy Birthday Ellen

:cheer2:party::bday:party::cool1:

Hope It's Super Fab!~

Thanks very much MEK!!

Happy Birthday Ellen!!

Sounds like a wonderful start to your vacation! I love all the BC pictures. I really fell in love with the Epcot resort area and I really want to try different DVC resorts (even though I loved the Boardwalk and will happily stay there again). So BCV may well be a place where I end up staying sooner than later. Even though I think top of my list is now VWL!

Unfortunately we won't see each other in November 2012. So far I think 2012 will be a year without WDW, but not without Disney. I am definitely planning on seeing Disneyland Paris for its 20th anniversary festivities. And I am very tempted to plan a trip to California to see Carsland...

And at the moment I think 2013 may be a good year to finally see the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival - I love the pictures of Epcot at that time of year and would love to see it... :goodvibes

Hello Magdalene! I'm so glad you enjoyed your first trip "home"- I'm sure you would like BCV, too, and you are right, that whole Epcot resort area is just wonderful. Love, Love, LOVE it!! It IS fun to try all the resorts with your points, though- I have enjoyed every resort we have tried, the only one left at WDW is WLV for me. It's on my list for someday...

I'm sad to hear you will be skipping 2012, but maybe we will see each other in 2013- May is usually when the DISmoms travel! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday Ellen!:bday:

Thank-you Kristi!

happy birthday! I know the monkeys at WDW are singing a special tune for you. Hope Pods has something neat for you

Thanks Laura! Pods picked up Sean from touch football- that was the BEST gift EVER!!! (IT's during rush hour, it was raining, and there is a TON of traffic- it's a minimum 2 hour trip). Really our weekend in NYC was my gift (but he always gives me a gift certificate to Ann Talor, too). :lovestruc

Oh boy, an Ellen report!! Woohooo!!:cool1::woohoo::dance3: SO very glad I stumbled across it!!

I'm loving the start...so glad that Sean did so well with leaving!

The BCV look so lovely!! I can't wait to stay there someday! Being able to walk to B&C is a big plus, which I hope to do one day! That Kitchen Sink looks so awesome!!

Can't wait for more!:thumbsup2

Hey stranger!! :goodvibes So happy you stumbled across me!! ANd the kitchen sink IS awesome- just go hungry...REALLY hungry!!

kathy1.jpg

Happy Birthday Ellen!

Thank-you Karin!!!

Actually the ONLY DVC resort I EVER wanted to stay at is OKW. And since we never really considered buying DVC we never thought about the other resorts.
But now being DVC members I cannot believe that we are going to stay at BLT in February and the thought of staying at the BWV becomes more and more interesting. I showed Tom your pics and he was really interested ....... so we'll see! :thumbsup2

I really do like every DVC- but I think I enjoy the convenience of BCV/BWV the most- that International gateway- both going and coming out of Epcot - is just soooooo nice!

Have the best HAPPY BIRTHDAY ever!!!!!:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::banana:

Thank-you!!!!!

Happy Birthday Ellen!!

Thank-you!!!!

Yes, he ate all the fries- he can eat a LOT more than that, actually! Good luck on your Kitchen Sink quest!

Looking forward to more updates. A little over two weeks until we leave and I am dying to go!

Have a blast!!! Please come back and tell us about it!!
