Would it be better to book 2 adjoining Cat 6 rooms for the cruise so that we can have TWO rooms on the Land Portion (that's what we usually get anyway)? Thinking this might end up saving money in the end as we wouldn't have to pay for an extra room out of pocket (it's just a personal preference that we get 2 adjoining rooms when traveling).

Which resort(s) do you choose from with Cat 6?

Thanks to all!

I odn't have an answer to your question as I don't have my planning guide with me, but i thought I would suggest that you check out the disney website. You can also order the free planning guide and video there too.

And you can check out prices for land/sea for 2 cat 6 versus 1 cat 3, but be sure to check with your TA before booking as they sometimes have discounted room rates.

Good luck deciding.

When we booked the land/sea, we stayed at the Poly. I believe that the options are the deluxes, except for the Grand Floridian, but I could be wrong.

I haven't seen a Cat 3, so I have no experience with them. It would be easier to schedule your trip if you went with Cat 6, since there are many of those, and only a few Cat 3s.

If you book 2 cat 6 rooms, vs one cat 3 rooms the difference is that you don't get the GF as a choice of your hotel. You can choose from any other deluxe hotel, and since you'd have two rooms on the ship, you'd get two rooms at the resort. You would have to book each adult separately, and then two of the kids would be charged as adults(the first two people in any stateroom are charged the adult rate regardless of age). I've looked into this, and usualy 2 cat 6 rooms are cheaper than a cat 3. You won't have concierge service, or a HUGE balcony, but you'll have two bathrooms and your privacy.

Many people suggest booking land/sea yourself, not as a package from DCL. This allows you to stay at any property you wish & usually saves you some $$.

Most people would go with the 2 staterooms for the extra space & additional bathroom, plus it is also less expensive as well.

Good luck!!

I have two cat 6 cabins on the June 25th LA cruise. When I tried to book just one room at the Grand Californian Regina at DU said I had to book 2 hotel rooms because I had 2 cabins on the ship. I only wanted one hotel room so I booked the hotel separate from the cruise. I would really check into how much everything cost booking as a package vs. booking land & sea separate. I am getting a AAA rate on my room at the GCA and I don't know if I could have gotten it if I booked through DCL (FYI - AAA rate is same as AP rate - 15% discount - don't get me started!!)

On DCL's website, the hotels offered with cat 6 are the Swan, Dolphin, Beach Club, AKL and the Poly.

Don't do the "package." Book whatever 2 rooms you want on the land days. Then get your category 3 on the ship.
