thanks for all the replies for info on good i-drive restaurants. the next question which affects my packing is are there any dress codes ?? can you turn up in shorts and t shirt, are jeans frowned upon and is it necesary for any of the restaurants mentioned (especially the butcher shop type up market steak house variety) to pack a shirt and tie. don't know about anyone else, but i like to make an effort when i go out even if it is only trousers and a smart t- shirt so i don't want to end up over dressed either !!!!
thanks, rick

No you dont need to dress up, shorts and T-shirts are the norm, no item of clothing is frowned upon(going without a shirt-bare chested is!).

The only place i know that you have to dress up for(shirt and tie/jacket), is victoria and alberts on the WDW resort(grand floridian).

Some places request no vests/tanks/singlets for dinner , but for all but the "poshest" places poloshirts and shorts are accepted.

If you're going to places like Fulton's Crab House and Charley's Steak House you will find smart casual is the norm. I wouldn't go as far as wearing a tie but smart casual top/shorts/trousers are what most diners wear in these style of restaurants.

We've eaten at Charleys etc everytime we go and Nic puts on some nice jeans and casual shirt and we find we are the better dressed.

Muppet - That's what I was trying to say - wear smart casual, and although we have seen some singlets etc most of the diners when we have been there have worn nicer clothes and seem to have come from the convention centres nearby.

Best wishes

i took some jeans and some full length combat trousers with me last year so that on a few nights i could dress up a little but never wore them at all in 2 weeks

it was so warm still in the evenings, plus we didn't really go anywhere to eat that you needed to dress smarter, so we didn't worry

Just goes to show I'm a slob!!!

I went to Charleys on 192 in shorts and Tee shirt for my birthday last year and nobody was at all bothered.
