Follow up CW-X tight question

In looking through past posts, I thought I saw several comments on compression sleeves being okay to get you through a specific event. I also saw a lot of comments on the other compression tight thread about wearing tights during the race. Perhaps I am reading too much into those comments, but does that mean that these tights aren't recommended for training runs? Would training in CW-X tights result in a weakening of the areas that these tights support?

I train in CW-x consistently. Well, let me be a little clearer... I run long in CW-x the entire year and train in shorts for shorter/harder runs. While these tights help with compression and stabilization they are not tight enough to act as a crutch that keep you in a weakened condition.

Thanks Coach. I used Kt tape for the first time for this race and felt better than I had after any of my other long runs. Since these tights are supposed to have similar effects, I thought they'd be great to wear during long training runs but I didn't want to do anything that was going to make me more injury prone in the long term.

They Are designed to help prevent injury.....
Have you checked out their website? Good info there.

I have a number of tights from CW-X. I actually like the ones from lululemon better- I don't feel like I am struggling to get into a wet suit!

Lululemon does not make compression wear so you are comparing apples and oranges. They are called compression pants for a reason - they have to compress your muscles and keep things in place to work properly. You want them to fit like a glove. If you have an IT band issue, tight calves, etc. you may have a fun time putting the things on because yes, it isn't the easiest of things but you get used to it. The best benefit is really the recovery process. I was back to normal after the WDW Marathon in just a few days whereas with the Princess Half and DL half, it took me nearly a week if not a bit longer to feel 100%.

They aren't for everyone, but they sure make a difference and I won't wear anything but those compression tights for my long runs. Worth $100 a pair!! I am ordering quite a few now.

MarathonMommy I had looked at the website. However, since a company's website is in general a marketing vehicle, I try and check other sources before I make a decision to buy something. Also as a competitive athlete for most of my childhood and young adulthood, all my coaches pushed for training that was harder than what were going to do on race day. Since one of the cw-x benefits is reduced energy expenditure, I was concerned that if I did all my training in them and raced without them that it would inhibit my performance during the race. Granted that's way over thinking it, and Coach's response was sufficient for me to buy a pair. My knees are definitely my week spot so anything that will protect them should enable me to train harder.

GroovyGirls My wife and checked the Lululemon outlet while we were in Florida. They had a lot of nice stuff, but not much for men.

Rupert if you're up for buying them online amazon has ventilators for $60.
