Fog/weather driving conditions

Hi,
Has anyone experienced bad weather or heavy fog near the grapevine this time of year? We are driving down from the Bay Area in a couple weeks. A friend of mine said fog is really bad in that area. Just wondering what we can expect. I've only ever driven down in Spring and Summer. Thanks.

We have hit heavy fog in Central California and snow over the Grapevine. You never know for sure this time of year. Could be sunny all the way or nasty.
