Hi,

For all of you ladies who subscribe to flylady.com, how do you keep up with her emails? I don't even have time to read her emails, much less, follow the instructions on them.

I must admit she has great ideas, tho.

you just pick and choose! LOL
Most of the time I just delete them because all the info I need is in the subject line (where is your laundry, spend 5 minutes in you zone, etc.)
As far as the testimonials and essays, if I have time, I may read them if not I delete or save in a folder to read later.

Have you been flying long?

I delete most of them. You get the same basic ones everyday. So, if I know I'm not going to be able to follow them that day, I just delete them all. I occasionally look at some of the testamonials, but I mostly just delete those too. Right now with my two little ones and having work done on the house, I just don't have time for "flying". My email is on constantly and if I'm home I'm checking the computer frequently. Sometimes I'll see something that reminds me to get some work done.

About a month.

My DH asked the other night who the heck is flylady and what's with all the emails?

He doesn't think I need "cleaning help" since I've been cleaning longer than flylady, LOL

I just order her two cookbooks, but they are b.o. till end of year. She must be really popular.

I did it for awhile, then I "fell off the wagon". I still get & delete the e-mails. If I actually did every e-mail, I don't think I would have any time for myself or my family. She does offer great ideas & with the holidays coming I need to pick myself back up & start doing some of them.

You can also try changing to digest or even no mail, until you get your routines going. I was overwhelmed by the emails at first, too. Then I learned to delete all the "where are your shoes" and "spend 15 minutes in your aone" ones, as the above poster said, the info you need is there in the subjest. I find them to be helpful reminders :)

I also delete the testimonials if I don't have time to read them then. She (flylady) doesn't want you sitting in front of the compputer all day - speaking of which, I'd better set my timer for 15 minutes or I'll be doing exactly that! ;)

When I started flying a few years ago it was great! I fell off the wagon for a long time and my DH always reminds me how much he loved flylady :p
He even talks to other people about it. I have started getting back on track and it already has made a big difference.

I introduced my sis to her and she is incredible with it! She sticks to it and is so clean and organized. Her Dh still thanks me!

I really miss it, I'm glad I'm starting back in.

Hang in there....you (and your DH) will notice a huge difference!

Here's an example: I just got an email for a "clean car boogie". I know I'm not cleaning my car today----DELETE. :teeth:

Exactly!

Here's another one....Where's your laundry?

Oh yeah....thanks, gotta go throw a load in. DELETE

See....simple! ;) :teeth:

I delete them....I'm not "flying" or even "fluttering" but the emails remind me that it's not hopeless. I read the testimonials if I have time and delete every reminder. Of course it doesn't help that I get the reminders at work. And right now I probably have 20 testimonial or holiday cruising emails in my inbox. But I think her principle is great and in my own time I will make it.

Maybe we should start a flylady need to get back on the wagon support group! I need to get back to it too. Especially that 27 fling boogie! Man, why do I have all this STUFF around my house??

I'll be two years with her in January. I do alot of what the other posters do. By now I know where my laundry is, to put shoes on my feet, to check my journal... so I delete what I don't need and leave up what reminders I still need to do.

If you've only been flying for a month maybe you are trying to do too much at once. Just do Kelly's mission and spend your 15 minutes decluttering. Throw in a Hotspot or two and maybe a Fling once a week. Your weekly blessing will take longer than 15 though.

I know at first it seems like you have a lot to do in a little time, but it really works and it doesn't take all day like you probably think it will. For me it has been great. A clean house and plenty of time for my kids. You'll hit your groove. And you'll still have some messy house days -- we all do. Just don't get discouraged and beat yourself up about it.

There is hope for me yet!

Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

I've been deleting her e-mails for quite sometime and finally unsubscribed. It just didn't work for me. I follow some of the basic principles such as using a timer and doing things in small doses.

I was tired of hearing about the Saving Dinner success stories and about how people were saving money and losing weight. We tried the e-mail subscription and I had to modify the menus so much b/c we don't eat red meat or their were prohibited ingredients in the meals, it cost me more time. We didn't save money one iota--cost us more money. One week they had the nerve to have shrimp and salmon in the same week...talk about a budget buster!).

I was tired of hearing how people implemented their systems so easily.

It didn't work for me--but it does work for a lot of other people.

I have started reading a Christian book on organization. I haven't finished--but it is good reading...much more basic. Flylady, I felt I was in a contest all of the time.

One day I may try her again--but for now, I am officially off the wagon :wave2:

That wouldn't happen to be to love, honor and vaccum is it?

I finally unsubscribed. The number of emails seemed to be increasing exponentially per year. She has good ideas, but sometimes too much of a good thing is a problem, too.

LisaluvsPooh,

What is the title of your book on organizaton your're reading, please.

No--I got it at the Women of Faith Conference--it is:
"Simplify your life" Get organized and Stay that way

(At least that is what I think it is--I have a sleeping baby on me at the moment and had to look it up on-line :) )

One more thing--you'll need a notebook while you read it--I started reading it and then got the notebook and it's hard to read through it again--but she actually asks questions and such that you can answer to help you in your organizational hoopla. (I don't like to write in my books, so that is the reason for the notebook).
