Can anyone out there tell me what type of aircraft we will be flying to Orlando on? Also does anyone have any experiences; good or bad flying with this company?

thanks

Avro Lancaster. On approach to Orlando International Airport the bomb bay doors open and you are all parachuted in. :rotfl2:

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Yes, left myself wide open there Richard. My kids want to know if we are going on a jumbo or not personally I dont think so but any ideas?

I don't think anyone can say for sure what type of aircraft you will be flying on because airlines can change their aircraft at any time.

I have travelled with them in 2000 on an A330. It was a smashing plane with seat back tvs for everyone, you could pick what you wanted to watch. I would see what you get when you get on the plane saves getting your kids' hopes up if they don't get the seatback tvs.

I don't think Mytravel have Jumbo's anymore. Not 100% certain but I think it will be a Airbus 330

Our first holiday to Orlando was with Airtours (now My Travel) and im afarid I would never go anywhere with them again.

It was 2 years ago, but it was a normal size plane not a jumbo, unfortunately the entertainment system was out of order, can you imagine 9 hours or so with no entertainment, it was the longest flight of my life, no compensation or anything, not even a free drink.

The air hostess were pleasant though and very helpful as the seats we booked I couldn't use so they managed to get us swapped with someone else.

I have heard good experiences with My Travel so don't be put off by this.

We had a lovely flight with My Travel in 2002. It was a brand new Airbus 330 (which I prefer to the jumbos). Plenty of legroom, seat back TVs and entertainment that worked. Lots of new films, plus a kids channel. There were also exterior cameras fitted round the plane, so you could see take off and landing from the pilots point of view - tres scary - only do this if you are a good flier!!

Oh and it had a downstairs toilet area which made a change from the mad scramble behind the seats!! All in all, one of the very best transatlantic flights we have done (and we have used all the big carriers). Wouldnt hesitate to use them again.

The only grievance we had with My Travel was at check in on the way home. They had 4 flights leaving within 2 hours of each other (LGW, Cardiff, Prestwick and Manchester I think). The line to check in was about 700 people strong and the plane was boarding whilst we were still in the line (nearly 3 hours :( ). Either get there early or leave it till the last minute as they will call you forward if you flight is about to leave. Wish we had known that!

Hiya

My daughter and I flew with My Travel last year. I was really impressed. The entertainment was good and the crew were amazing. My dh stayed home with the twin boys, whilst Casey and I went.

Going Places didnt order us any dinner on our flight only package, which we didnt realise till we checked in. They advised us to buy sandwhiches just incase the cabin crew could not sell us a meal at £9.00 each both ways. I decided to stock up in case, having Casey with me who was 4 then wouldnt be able to go without for 9 hours. When we boarded the plane I asked the hostess if there were any spare dinners we could buy and explained our circumstances. They said she wasnt sure as it was a full flight. Later on she came back and said yes there is dinners available. I asked how much does she want and she replied no charge! This happened both ways. Technically they should of charged me. The cabin crew were excellent. The toilet being situated down stairs was a great idea. It stopped all the congestion in isle way. Whilst I went to the toilet the cabin crew watched her while she waited for outside the toilets. They were great. 100% recommended.

We are flying with Virgin this year, this is only because surprisingly the flights were cheaper!

Dont panic you will be in Florida in 9 hours once you take off. That always gets me excited enough!

Have a great time!

Absolutely! :)

Nope. Previous to that, I had flown on Virgin's creaky old fleet of jumbos that may have been new in 1973. I have had an awful experience on a jumbo leased by TCD (never again). Ive flown on several Airbuses and they have always been smoother, quieter and more comfortable (for me personally). Have since flown on one of BA's 777 which wasnt too bad and more recently, Virgin's slightly newer 747-400's which I found cramped due to the seating plan.

I paid less than £200 to fly with MyTravel, this years flight with Virgin is pushing £700 -Im quite happy on the smaller plane!

Not sure why you think its so hilarious????? Even my DH who is a "plane anorak" is a big fan of the Airbus.

I hate the airbus range
Small uncomfortable, like sitting in a cigar tube, the Virgin UCS are closer together and cramped compared to the gorgeous 747, and when the abomination of an A380 gets going, with the amount of passengers on board, it will take you 2 hours just to get on the damn thing!
Finally, its FRENCH! what more needs to be said? :earboy2:

PJ

Where are you flying from, the reason I ask is because we are booked with My Travel this year but the flight is actually a Monarch Aircraft.

We are flying from Cardiff.

On that point only, I will grant you one of these :rotfl: :D .

The UC suite isnt a high priority in my family ;) and we found the Airbus to have more legroom in Economy. I find a lot of the seats on jumbos feel claustraphobic as they are squashed next to the toilets or galleys. Just find the Airbus has a more open feel to it.

:hourglass Sue we are flying from Manchester. I checked out MY Travels web site and found that they use many other air-carriers one of them being Astraeus who we had the misfortune of flying with last Oct to the Canaries. We only went for one week but were delayed 12 hrs, apparantly the plane had broke down and they struggled to find parts!!!??? I am the eternal optimist though and am sure whatever we fly on we will be ok ......I hope

Astraeus only has only has 737s and 757s, so doubt if you would get on of these for a long haul flight :)

That's what iPods are for... ;)

TBH I often don't use the "Entertainment" anyway. A book and an iPod is sufficient for me.
