I know I am probably worrying myself over nothing, but we have always flown with Virgin, it was only because a family member had money tied up with First Choice that we have gone with them, seemed silly not to.

Now I am worrying myself silly over their long haul flight, we fly out Saturday 17th Jan and I know you have to pay to sit together with FC, which I personally thing is ludicrous. Hubby and I have always gone for the sets of two at the back the plane with Virgin where there is just the two of us to annoy. Being of the "pooh" shaped variety and a nervous flyer I am worried that FC will sandwich me in a set of 4 seats.

Sorry for whining on, I hate flying at the best of times and with a carrier I don't know makes it even worse.

:thumbsup2 We've flown with them before:thumbsup2 they were excellent great cabin crew wonderful food and fantastic flights, don't worry they take good care of their passengers. The seats should be fine just relax once you get on board and enjoy the journey.

We flew with First Choice in September and both flights were great, you'll be fine :)

Have a great time :thumbsup2

hi  we flew with first choice in july. It was the best flight weve been on. Dont no where your flying from but we flew from manchester. The seating was 2-4-2 and there was loads of room.:cool1:

Have a great time

You've got nothing to worry about Lisa. They're great and are our prefered carrier. The legroom is better than Virgin's too ;)

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the reassuring words. I hate flying at the best of times and being a larger lady doesn't help, I know that hubby and I can fit snuggly in the sets of two on Virgin, so when we check in the day before am going to plead with the check in staff to see if we can get a set of two, presuming its a 2-4-2 set up from Gatwick.

It's either 2-3-2 or 2-4-2, I can't remember exactly. Either way you'll definatly get your 2 and don't worry about fitting in there's plenty of room. I'm no skinny minnie myself
We have a 2 and 2 in front of each other and always like to sit at the back of the plane.

I've spoken to First Choice and a nice young chappy went off to find out the configuration of the plane from Gatwick and he said it will be a 3-4-3, and that he could put a request on our booking to ask for an aisle seat, thought that was nice of him, he took my phone number and rang me back with the info too, customer service isn't dead just yet.

We are doing the day before check in and are aiming to be on their doorstep for opening at 12 noon, and he agreed this was the best way to secure a aisle seat, just hope hubby can sit next to me.

One of the best flights we have ever had has been with first choice def recommend them.

Interesting 3-4-3... defo sure? the FC and Thomson 767's are 2-3-2. They dont have 777's but TUI have 747's obviously in a 3-4-3 config in some of their other company fleets.
I am sure it will be a FC or THomson 767 at 2-3-2. We flew FC in June to Sanford, loved it from start to finish, polished product to say the least.

Thats what the chappy said that I phoned at FC, he even went to find out and called me back, will just have to wait and see. We're going to check in early so hopefully we can get an aisle and one next to each other :)

Another shout for FC :thumbsup2 I would fly with them again.

We flew to the Dom. Republic in September '07 and found the seats had plenty of legroom, I was comfy even with DD (a chubby 10 month old at the time) on my knees :)

I would much rather fly with first choice/thomson than Virgin, the seats seem much bigger and more comfy.
It's a shame their flight only prices are so high otherwise we would fly with them all the time.

I'm surprised that the plane is going to be 3-4-3!! I wouldn't be surprised if that's wrong. If it is 3-4-3 then ask if there are any seats in pairs, most planes have a few the same as virgin.

Please don't worry about being seated together as long as your early you wont have any issue with being seated together. (we have never pre booked our seats).

We flew first choice to Puera Vallarta in Mexico (the pacific side) and that was a 12 hour flight, I much prefered it too virgin or ba - much more room and better customer service. Ours was 2-4-2

First choice 767's are 2-3-2.

Look at this link at post number 7 with the economy blue/green leather. The only 2-4-2 i know is the A330 with a scheduled airline configure such as US Airways or BMI, Charter A330's are 3-3-3 such as Thomas Cook

Just to offer you some more reassurance - we have flown First Choice twice in the last couple of years (to Mexico), and they were brilliant. The legroom in economy is better than BA or Virgin (we fly BA fairly regularly), there is a real sense of space. The planes are nicer too imo - and as there are only 2 of you travelling I should imagine there is no problem sitting you together.

Have a great flight - I'm sure you will :goodvibes

Thanks everyone for the reassurance. We've just received our tickets and a final invoice as our flight number has changed from FCA to TOM, so I think we are now going with Thomson Airways, fingers crossed they are ok too

LIsa,

You are very likely still flying on a First Choice 767, they operate those under the new Thomson Holidays flight codes. Thomson have refit craft so they have improved recently. Best way to confirm would be on the Thomson thread on holiday truths. Post a request to Dazbo5, (Darren) the guy knows his stuff and is always happy to help.
