We will be flying to WDW in November with a 10.5 month old. We are planning to bring our City Mini GT rather than rent. We love the adjustable handle and how easily it pushes. We don't see much reason to pay to rent something we already have and already have at least 1 other trip to WDW being planned for the following year. For those of you who have flown with similar strollers, did you buy the Baby Jogger travel bag to gate check? What were your experiences?

We have a city mini and have flown with it several times, always gate checked in the baby jogger bag. The bag is nicely padded so it protects it from dings, scuffs, and dirt/grease. It can be a pain to get to the gate with the bag, but we just roll it and stick it in the basket until we get to our gate. You need to take the wheels off the stroller in order to put it in the bag, so you'd have to pack up the stroller in the terminal before you get to the gangway. Carrying the stroller in the bag hasn't been an issue for us since my DH usually carries it and I wheel the luggage with the car seat attached it it.

I think the GT is over American Airline's gate check limit--20 pounds. Just in case you are flying aa.

We gate check ours in a generic stroller bag that is big enough so we don't have to take the wheels off. No one has ever suggested it is too heavy but it's definitely over 20 lbs - I think 26. We have never had damage.

We've gate checked ours many times without issue. I just pop it in the stroller bag at the gate.

We have a Britax B Agile (I think similar to the city mini) and have gate checked without a bag. No issues. It is also black though so even if there was a scuff or mark I probably wouldn't notice

I have also been wondering about gate checking our G, and saw this about AA on another site. I noticed the GT is just baaaarely over 20 lbs. I wondered about rolling it to the gate then removing the front tire (just requires pushing a little button) and dropping it in my carry on bag just before gate checking. I wonder if that will take it below the limit. Would definitely want to pack any extras in the check in luggage too, like trays or parent consoles. Though the latter is a good idea even if you do regular check it, bc that tray sticks out so much and could easily be damaged, and the parent console lost.
