Seems Air Canada is back to their old tricks of changing up flights after selling us the tickets and with no intent of passing that information on to us!

Our kids are all flying out of Pearson late January on a flight that was originally scheduled to depart at 8:15 am. Now it's departing at 10:55 am. It looks like they had 4 separate direct flights until last week and now there's 2 ... the plane they've put in for this flight is now HUGE! Their return flight has also been changed.

2 separate reservations -- one thru PC Travel and the other thru Aeroplan redemption and neither have been notified of the change -- only found out when i was trying to work our schedule around the kids since we'll already be in Disney!

I guess it's up to us to keep a constant eye on our itineraries right up till the day of our departure >:(

That happened to me back on Labour Day. Was expecting to come back to Toronto from YVR on a narrow body Airbus... and we ended up on a wide body 767. Strange thing was that during check in it still indicated that we were getting on an airbus.

All in all I'm ok with the flight times and planes being changed. But some heads up would be nice.

I am also flying late January and noticed my flight had been changed! Leaving earlier now so bit of a bonus if that stays ha ha! I guess I will randomly keep checking, I hope that if it changes closer to departure day I will receive notification.

Booked AC flights through Aeroplan for November and they changed ours as well without notice. Instead of leaving in morning were now leaving in afternoon. I called and got morning flights back. And then 2 weeks ago we got notice that our flight had changed. Looked at it - the change was we arrive 4 minutes earlier than previously posted!! Nothing for the major change but notice for 4 minutes - lol

I have booked our flight through our RBC rewards with WestJet. They have changed them 4 times. I was notified each time through the bank. I do have what they are calling my finalized itinerary. So far, nothing has changed since then. But I am checking weekly just because of threads I had read before this one of airlines changing flights at the last minute. It would be just my luck that it would change, with no notice for me.

For my flight to the UK with Westjet this past summer they also changed the schedule 4 times. They changed my YYZ-LGW by an hour, then changed LGW-YYZ by an hour, then changed YYZ-LGW by about 10 minutes, then changed YYZ-LGW back to the original time.

Since the flight to Gatwick was an overnight one, 1 hour was somewhat insignificant, but I did get an email each time it changed. I'm always appreciative of little things like that.

AC (Rouge) return from Orlando changed up my plane a few weeks ago. I had pre-selected & paid for an aisle seat near exit doors so I would have more leg room. This went out the window with the wide-body plane & my seat was changed. Orlando ticket agent could not assist. When I got home, I called AC & was told they could not refund my fee & could not assist either as I had to make a complaint through their online portal. What a PITA. AC did ultimately refund my $ but never again will I pre-pay for my seat selection since they swap out planes like dirty underwear and don't honour seats.

I am on three of those flights this winter. Pretty sure they would have notified you at some point. I knew of the change but not sure if I was notified or I was a little pro-active and checked on my own. For me, I like the change as now I can sleep at home versus at an airport hotel.

Me too - booked our January flights last summer and they changed our nice AM direct flights to getting in at 11pm. They never notified me of any change and then tried to charge me $200 to change plans!

If they changed your flights by more than a couple of hours, you can call them and request a time better suited to your original departure time.

We're flying with Air Transat out of YYZ this weekend. Each flight changed by 45 mins or so, which I only noticed when going to check on the flight myself.. no notice. It's not a huge change, but could mean missing your flight if you were running tight on time so a heads up would be nice.

In fairness, I've learned this lesson with American carriers out of Buffalo. They've all scheduled a change on me at some point without adequate notice. It's ridiculous that industry standard is to do whatever you want to people's schedules and then make them discover it. Some airlines are much worse than others though.

When I book flights on AC through AM, I get notifications every time there is a change. Even when it's a 2 minute change LOL

Yes, I did that, in fact changed our plans entirely to fly out of Montreal instead of Ottawa - more options and better flight times.

You know, I don't think I've NOT had a time or flight number change on any flight I've been on in the last 10 years or so. Multiple airlines, too, so do your due diligence, folks! I usually check weekly, but as the departure day comes closer I'll check daily to be sure there hasn't been some sort of change.

I checked my flights based on this thread and my 3:15 flight from MCO to YYZ with Air Canada had been cancelled and we had been put on a 1:50 instead. No notification whatsoever.
