I think I know what you mean. Unfortunately, there are no such treats for kids when flying with most North American carriers. I always expect NOTHING.
The only exception is Hawaiian Air. I was on a 5-hour flight and they did serve a hot meal, and they gave my kids decks of playing cards. That was nice.
However, if you fly on an Asian carrier such as Cathay, there are so many things for kids, such as:
- A discounted airfare
- A child's meal (a huge one that keeps the child busy eating for most of the flight)
- A bag of goodies that include an activity book, playing cards, coloring pencils, crayons, stickers, etc.
- A girl's toiletry bag containing all kinds of pampering goodies, given to us in Business class.
Cathay spoils you rotten that when you fly with a North American carrier, it's a bit of a letdown.
Thai Air is another good airline. On a 3-hour flight I, I wasn't expecting anything. But all of a sudden, they started serving an amazing hot meal.
